Socialism is Bad um’k?

I was reading how bad socialized medicine is on one of the blogs I read, TOTWTYTR. He has it right – it is a dream that don’t work in the real world. You want socialized medicine then you should be forced to live under it in Canada or the UK for a year before you try to bring it here.

Beyond that though Obama will be pushing a number of Socialist programs on all of us. I hope that Congress will stop him like they did/do our good Governor here in MA but we will see.

All of this leads me to ask the question “Why would any American want to push Socialism on us?” I don’t get it. Socialism does not work, look at Europe and the issues they are having.

More importantly look at US, the good old USA. . . . We are the last and only Super Power in the world today. We have the country everyone seems to want to get into by legal means or otherwise. . . We have a great standard of living (if not the best) and we have always been able to expect our kids to have a better life than we do. We have the highest level of technology around. How did we get these things? Not through Socialism.

This country got to be the great country it is by good OLD values. Not socialism, not “Christian” values, not anything but good old AMERICAN VALUES. We built this country by allowing people to take risks, work hard and sometimes even invent things - and dealing with the results. If you did well they you may make some money or even become filth rich – if you fail then you get to start over. People kept what they earned and only gave a bit to the government to run our defense and needed services. Key word here is NEEDED. The government did not deal with what you wanted – only what was really NEEDED to live such as roads and basic laws. People decided how much they could afford to give to charity not the government and these private charities took care of the poor and sick that could not care for themselves. People were responsible for themselves and their families and their actions. You broke the law you paid the price, no matter what your childhood was like. . .

Look at it from the other side - No socialist country has made it. The USSR was the biggest and best attempt at this ever and it still failed. It could not compete with us and fail trying to. Corruption is a natural part of life and Socialism seems to thrive on it. The USA had risk and reward and became a super power. The USSR has Socialism and “social security for all” and failed with the people only able to dream about things we took for common every day while many went hungry. Socialism leads to corruption, power grabs, police states, food shortages and lower standards of living. Prove me wrong if you can – I would love to know where it has worked past the first optimistic generation at best. . .

Our Founding Fathers built this country on the ideal that the best government was one that governed least. (Yes that means a small government that is not into everything) The more we move away from that model the more problems we have. The move problems we have the more we move away from the model. It is time to wake up. We are well along on the past to Socialism but we are not there yet. We can turn this around but we need to do it now. Stand Up, Speak Up! We need to make sure the government knows that we don’t want to go down that path. Will it hurt? Yes, but far less than it will if we stay on this path.

It is time to exercise our patriotic duty to dissent with our leaders and let them know what we think. It is time to go back to the old tried and true ways that built this country. We need to go back to speaking English, holding people responsible for their actions and letting them rise or fall based on their own abilities. We need to stop wasting our future and our kids future by spending like drunken sailors on things like bail outs of private companies, and nation building. Stop sending huge amounts of cash overseas to Africa or the UN or any one else just so we can feel good about ourselves. We can’t spend enough to fix the world. We need this cash at home to fix our own house first. We need to fix our own schools and roads and so many other things. Only when we have our own house in order should we even consider the charity work we are paying for in other countries today. This is a big world - we should not have to shoulder the load on our own. We should help when asked but only to the extent we can afford and we should never be running things in another country. If you ask for help then you need to put your own people on the line to do the work - we will work with you - but we will not do it for you. We will help you up but you have to do the work yourself.

We need to go back study the writings of our Founding Fathers who built this great land and learn from them. They did not want us involved in so many things our government has gotten into. The idea of a government this involved in our every day lives would be beyond belief for them. They did not want us sending troops and money all over the world to try to control things. They were outright against nation building and said so. They wanted us to have open trade with other countries but other than that leave them alone to fend for themselves unless they are a threat to us. They did not want us interfering in other countries except in self defense! (And in self defense we need to stop caring what the world thinks. You threaten us we will destroy you – end of discussion) When has it ever helped us to get involved in another nations affairs that didn’t involve us directly?

They had a reason for this. Lets go back to living by our Constitution and governing by it. We should be an example for the world for sure, but not by forcing it on them with our cash or military. We need to go back to being the country everyone wants to be like because we are successful, live in peace, and enjoy a good life with our children. We do this by keeping to ourselves and live by our own Constitution.
