Gun Facts

GOAL here in MA was nice enough to put together a facts sheet. . .

Give it a look HERE

Feb 8 Pro Gun Protest in Boston MA

More info HERE

Folks we need a good turn out so they know we are serious.  If we don't get a good crowed the news will be all over it. .  . PLEASE HELP!  BE THERE!

MSNBC Stay classy!

Hey MSNBC, way to go.  Love to see that you are now covering every shooting in the country.  Even better to see that you are now concerned with the 40 people killed in gun free Chicago so far this year.  Nice to see you still blame guns bought in other states and outside the city for the problem. . .

I agree on that one. . . you see the Fed is even admitting that Mexican drug gangs are active in every city in the country and a major source of violent crime as they fight turf wars.  They are running military grade guns into our cities to do this. . . not guns bought in the USA by legal means, but the kind of guns we gave the Mexican Government that troops are stealing and selling to the drug lords. . . then you also have the guns that  Obama ran to them with Fast and Furious. . . oh, but you still won't investigate that will you. . . .

Gun control has failed and we all know it.  Gun control is unconstitutional and we all know that too. .  . nice to see you are doing your job and running cover for Obama instead of pushing for a real fix.

If you were doing your job we would be seeing you pushing for the end to gun control, the end to gun free zones, calling for action against the drug war and gangs and closing our borders. . . but no, you don't really want to fix things, you want to play politics.

Thanks a lot.  Thank GOD for the Internet or we would never know the real facts.

Great News out of DC

GO READ IT ALL

Keep up the pressure folks!

Dear Gabby Gifford -

Your being shot was a tragedy, it does not make you a gun expert.

It disgusts me to watch you testify in front of Congress to take away our civil rights because you think you are an expert.  Stop playing on your injury to make up for lack of facts or knowledge about gun control and it's failure.

No, Mag limits would not have changed the outcome, no, he would still have gotten the guns with background checks because we need them NOW to buy a gun from an FFL.  Anyone that sold him a gun as a prohibited person broke the law as they stand TODAY!. . .

Stop lying to people and telling them things would be different when you don't know that and you can't prove anything they are trying to pass would do a DAMN thing to have prevented your shooting,

What might have stopped it would have been better mental health care, but that is not what they are asking us for, they want our rights with no proof or facts to show anything they are taking from us would have prevented any of these shootings.

In fact you can show that what they are asking for would NOT have changed a think. . . They already have an assault weapons ban in CT.  Shooting people is already illegal, stealing guns is already illegal.  Selling a gun to a known prohibited person is illegal.  Buying a gun for someone so they can avoid the background check is illegal. . . .. taking a gun to a school is ILLEGAL. . .

YOU DON'T GET IT DO YOU?  You don't even know what laws are on the books!  ENOUGH!

You want to fix this then get behind the folks that want to end gun free (Victim Disarmament) zones where all but one of the shootings has occurred in the last 50  years. . .

Go after your fellow DEMOCRATS that run the cities where most of kids (GANG MEMBERS) are being killed by violent crime and have them fix the economy, get these kids jobs, end the drug war and end gangs. . . .

You can not have my rights as punishment for something I did not do.  Suck it up and either help us fix it or get out of the damn way!

Gun Licenses up in MA

Patriot Ledger is reporting that gun licenses are up in MA . . . a 27% increase since 2008. . . .

Now if these folks would be active we may actually keep our rights in this state.

They report the class A or concealed carry permit is the one on the way up.  More and more folks in this blue state are realizing they need to exercise their rights or lose them. . .

This increase has been state wide and for mace and FID cards also.  But more and more folks want their carry permit.

This is good.  Now we need them to let their reps know that they expect their rights to be protected and that they will not tolerate any new gun laws in this already insainly restrictive state.

We have the toughest gun laws in the nation and their answer to the failure of gun control is always do it again only harder. . .

Gun control is a failure, and we need to make sure every politician knows we know that.  We don't want more gun control we want them to FIX THE PROBLEM - they need to attack gangs, drugs, and inner city poverty if they really want to do something to fix the violent crime issue.

Parent of Shooting Victim Heckled?

No, it is media bias. . .

Don't believe me then go see the film for yourself HERE

This parent has every right in the world to speak his mind to the commission on the shooting.  When he turns and asks the audience a question they now have the right to answer him. . . .

And they did and they tried to be respectful of him.

My experience with gun owners is they are well educated, respectful of all if shown respect, and they will support your rights to not own a gun as long as you don't try to take their right to own one away.   The ones I know are very pro Constitution, pro civil rights, pro personal rights, most are pro gay rights. . . any right that does not impose your will on anyone else they tend to support. . .

Thank God we have the internet to check on the Media with.  Our main stream media lost it's way long ago. They are no longer the watchdog of the government but now actively take sides. . .  this is too bad, and it is why they are losing credibility.

If you live in Nevada

It is time to drop a note to Harry Reid and let him know you expect him to support our civil rights.

Why he is even letting this insane bill come to a vote is beyond me!  Tell Sen Reid he took an oath to uphold our Constitution and you expect him to honor it.

Feinstein is a traitor to her oath and now she thinks she can pass this mess?

Time to call and send those emails folks. . . Make sure Reid knows this will cost him the next election. . . .

Electoral College change?

Hey GOP

You want to mess with the Electoral Colleges to rig things your way????

NO.

How about you start acting like conservatives instead of Democrat Lite for a change. . . May get you a win for once. . . .

Mass Gun Permit Procedure. . .

Thanks to GOAL here is a basic outline of what it takes to get a handgun in MA. . .  Now on top of these 33 steps please know that we have four levels of permit here.

The top three (A, B , FID)  are all $100, not sure about the bottom one (FID Restricted) but I think that is only $25:  Need to renew every 6 years.

Class A - All handguns, all rifles/shotguns, Ammunition, mace, pepper spray and ability carry concealed.  - MAY ISSUE
Class B - Non large capacity hand guns, all rifles and shotguns, Ammunition,  mace, pepper spray NO ability carry concealed.  - MAY ISSUE

FID - non large capacity rifles and shotguns, Ammunition,  mace, pepper spray NO ability carry concealed. - Shall Issue
FID Restriced - Mace and Pepper spray only

May Issue = up to the police chief.  I live in a great town that respects our rights, we get permits. . . Boston not so much, no permits without connections. . .

We also have an assault weapons ban in place and 10 rd limit in any new mags. . . Thanks to the two pistol rosters noted below we can not buy many new handguns, but the cops are exempt. . .

And they think we need more laws on top of all this. . . and they wonder why we say NO?  FYI in the last 15 years gun crime has gone UP 200% on top of this. . . ya, real success story in MA folks .. . .

For the record, the following is the procedure for a resident to lawfully
purchase a handgun through a licensed firearm dealer in Massachusetts. (From GOAL)

1) A citizen must first take firearm safety course that has been approved by the state police – Chapter140, Section 131P.

2) The citizen must file an application with their local licensing authority together with a course
certificate. The application includes the applicants personal information and asks the following
questions under penalty of law:

a) Are you a citizen of the United States?
b) Have you ever used or been known by another name?
c) What is your age?
d) Have you ever been convicted of a felony?
e) Have you ever been convicted of the unlawful use, possession, or sale of a narcotic or harmfuldrugs as defined in M.G.L. c. 94C sec.1?
f) Have you ever been convicted of a crime punishable by incarceration by more than 1 year?
g) In any state or federal jurisdiction have you ever been convicted as an adult or adjudicated a youthful offender or delinquent child for the commission of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable for more than 2 years, a violent crime as defined in MGL C140.s121, a violation of any law regulating the use, possession, ownership, sale, transfer, rental, receipt or transportation of weapons or ammunition for which a term of imprisonment may be imposed or a violation of any law regulations the use, possession or sale of controlled substances as defined in section 1 of MGL 94C?
h) Have you ever been confined to any hospital or institution for mental illness?
i) Are you or have you ever been under treatment for or confinement for drug addiction or habitual drunkenness?
j) Have you ever appeared in any court as a defendant for any criminal offense (excluding
non-criminal traffic offense)?
k) Are you now or have you ever been the subject of MGL C209A restraining order or involved in a domestic violence charge?
l) Has any License to Carry Firearms, Permit to Purchase Firearms or Firearms Identification Card issued under the laws of any state or territory ever been suspended, revoked or denied?
m) Are you currently the subject of any outstanding arrest warrants in any state or federal
jurisdiction?
n) Other than Massachusetts, in what state, territory or jurisdiction have you resided?
o) Have you ever held a License to Carry in any other state, territory or jurisdiction?

3) The applicant is required to pay a $100 application fee. The fee is nonrefundable in the case of a denial or the issuance of a restricted license.

4) During the application process, the applicant will be fingerprinted and photographed.

5) In many cases the applicant will be subject to an interview with the local licensing authority.

6) Many local authorities add provisions to the state’s application process. These include supplying letters of reference, doctor’s letters, mandatory club memberships, etc.

7) Once an application has been submitted, the local licensing authority will forward one copy of the application and one copy of the applicant's fingerprints to the colonel of state police.

8) The colonel shall conduct a background check on the applicant utilizing files maintained by the department of probation and statewide and nationwide criminal justice, warrant and protection order information systems and files including, but not limited to, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and the department of mental health.

9) The colonel shall notify the licensing authority of any automatic disqualifications. Those include:

a) has, in any state or federal jurisdiction, been convicted or adjudicated a youthful offender or delinquent child for the commission of (a) a felony; (b) a misdemeanor punishable by
imprisonment for more than two years; (c) a violent crime as defined in section 121; (d) a violation of any law regulating the use, possession, ownership, transfer, purchase, sale, lease, rental, receipt or transportation of weapons or ammunition for which a term of imprisonment may be imposed; or (e) a violation of any law regulating the use, possession or sale of controlled substances as defined in section 1 of chapter 94C;
b) has been confined to any hospital or institution for mental illness, unless the applicant submits with his application an affidavit of a registered physician attesting that such physician is familiar with the applicant's mental illness and that in such physician's opinion the applicant is not disabled by such an illness in a manner that should prevent such applicant from possessing a firearm;
c) is or has been under treatment for or confinement for drug addiction or habitual drunkenness, unless such applicant is deemed to be cured of such condition by a licensed physician, and such applicant may make application for such license after the expiration of five years from the date of such confinement or treatment and upon presentment of an affidavit issued by such physician stating that such physician knows the applicant's history of treatment and that in such physician's opinion the applicant is deemed cured;
d) is at the time of the application less than 21 years of age;
e) is an alien;
f) is currently subject to: (A) an order for suspension or surrender issued pursuant to section 3B or 3C of chapter 209A or a similar order issued by another jurisdiction; or (B) a permanent or temporary protection order issued pursuant to chapter 209A or a similar order issued by another jurisdiction; or
g) is currently the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant in any state or federal jurisdiction.

10) Regardless of the lack of any disqualifiers, the local authority may deny a license if they deem the applicant to be “unsuitable”. There is no statutory standard for this term.

11) The local licensing authority may also arbitrarily downgrade the license to a Class B that prohibits the possession of large capacity handguns and prohibits concealed carry.

12) The local licensing authority may also add arbitrary restrictions that are not defined in statute or regulations such as “Target and Hunting Only”.

13) If a license is issued it shall be revoked or suspended upon the occurrence of any event that would have disqualified the holder from being issued such license.

14) The licensing process can take anywhere from a month to a year. (Statute requires 40 days, but is seldom complied with.)

15) If a license is issued, the license holder may then seek out a handgun that meet the restrictions, if any, placed on their license.

16) The handgun that is to be purchased must meet the manufacturing requirements of Massachusetts Attorney General Regulations 940 CMR 16.00. The office of the Attorney General does not certify any handgun as meeting the regulations. Manufacturers and licensed dealers must make that determination at their own risk. The Office also does not recognize the “Approved Firearms Roster”.

17) The handgun that is to be purchased must also meet the manufacturing requirements of MGL Chapter 140, Section 123. The Secretary of Public Safety publishes the “Approved Firearms Roster” for handguns that have passed the manufacturing standards tests. (These regulations and laws greatly restrict the makes and models of handguns that can legally be sold in Massachusetts. Massachusetts remains the only state in the nation where a lawfully licensed citizen cannot purchase a single shot Olympic target pistol.)

18) The handgun must also meet the requirements of MGL Chapter 140, Section 131M which bans the possession, sale or transfer of certain large capacity magazines not lawfully owned prior to September 13, 1994.

19) If the handgun to be purchased is owned by a private citizen or a federally licensed dealer (18 U.S. Code 923) in another state, the handgun must be transferred to a licensed dealer in the state of Massachusetts.

20) The Massachusetts dealer must be licensed under federal law (18 U.S. Code 923) and state law (Chapter 140, Section 122).

21) Once in possession of the handgun the Massachusetts licensed dealer must record the information about the gun in their permanent Bound Book (Bound Book - 27 CFR 178.125).

22) The proposed Massachusetts buyer must then appear in person to the Massachusetts Dealer and present their valid License to Carry a firearm together with other personal identification.

23) The buyer must complete a federal form ATF 4473. This form asks for the personal information of the potential buyer. The potential buyer must also answer and sign under penalty of law the following questions:

a) Are you the actual transferee/buyer of the firearm listed on the form?
b) Are you under indictment or information in any court for a felony, or any other crime, for which the judge could imprison you for more than one year?
c) Have you ever been convicted in any court of a felony, or any other crime, for which the judge could have imprisoned you for more than one year, even if you received a shorter sentence including probation?
d) Are you a fugitive of justice?
e) Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?
f) Have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective or have you ever been committed to a mental institution?
g) Have you ever been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions?
h) Are you subject to a court order restraining you from harassing, stalking, or threatening your child or an intimate partner or child of such partner?
i) Have you ever been convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence?
j) Have you ever renounced your United States citizenship?
k) Are you a nonimmigrant alien?

24) The dealer must also fill out a state form FA-10 which contains the information of the seller/dealer, the buyer and a description of the firearm. The form must then be signed by the purchaser.

25) If more than one handgun is being purchased within a five day period, the dealer is required to fill out BATFE Form 3310.4 and submit a copy to the BATFE and the state agency in charge of licensing before the close of business on the day of the second sale.

26) The dealer must then conduct a background check on the proposed buyer through the National Instant Checks System.

27) The National Instant Check System can delay, deny, or approve a sale/transfer. If a sale/transfer is delayed or denied the licensed dealer is not informed as to why.

28) If the dealer is equipped with the new Massachusetts Instant Records Checks System (MIRCS), the buyer must submit to a digital scan and recognition of their fingerprint.

29) If all the checks have passed, the dealer must instruct the buyer on the safe use and operation of the firearm.

30) The dealer must also provide a tamper resistant mechanical locking device that has been approved by the Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police when selling/transferring handguns or large capacity long guns.

31) If all of the above steps are met, the transaction may take place.

32) Once the license holder leaves with the firearm it must be transported home in accordance with the state laws regarding the transportation of firearms Chapter 140, Section 131C. The firearm must be under the direct control of the license holder or the firearm must be unloaded and contained within the locked trunk or in a locked case or other secure container.

33) Once the license holder has the firearm in their home they must store firearm in accordance with Chapter 140, 131L. A firearm that is not under the direct control of the license holder must be stored in a locked container or equipped with a tamper-resistant mechanical lock or other safety device.

Anti Gun Failure?

HERE is a great article on how the Anti Gun folks may be reaching too far. . . we can all hope as their failure will mean more freedom for us all.

American Thinker is a great blog, book mark time folks. . . .

New Assault Weapons Ban?

So when the gun grabbers tell us tomorrow how we are all evil and they need to take our guns remember two things. . .

It is our RIGHT to own them, not a gift from the Government

And this VIDEO

Which admits that there was NO ASSAULT WEAPONS USED in the school shooting, there were 4 pistols.  This story also tells that the nut tried to buy a gun and was denied, so the law worked. . . he then started breaking the law by killing mom to get guns he could not legally have that he illegally transported and used to illegally go on school property and illegally kill 26 people. . . .

Proof that the law is ignored by these nuts and more laws would not stop it.

Tell congress to let it go, and get back to work on fixing our country.

You really want to stop violent crime then get people back to work, teach the inner city kids to stay in school and not get into gangs.  Get kids out of gangs and back in to school or a job. . . .

New laws will do nothing and we all know it.

Update - Another link saying no rifle used. . . Still digging on this

This link says he had pistols and the AR in the school and a shotgun in the trunk. . . .

So why is it so hard to find the real data on this?

Meeting with my state Rep in Mass.

Had a sit down with my state Rep to go over the new laws they want to put through in MA. . . Went VERY well.

I have to say she supports gun owners and understands what is going on.  I had a good half hour or more to talk with her and do a bit of education on what a real assault rifle is, gun free zone issues, and some of the crazy ideas that we are hearing from Beacon Hill. . .

We discussed the issue of seven round mags, Civilian vs Cops and guns, the crazy approved lists for guns, the permits system and how we do background checks now.  I also had a chance to go over the permits and how we are finger printed, checked for mental health issues and such right on the application I have to fill out every six years.

I went over the cosmetics that they use to define an assault weapon these days and how they are not automatic weapons and how a civilian can not get a new automatic weapons since the law they passed in 1986. . . and the costs for an old one including special permit in MA and the extra tax paid.

They took lots of notes and did seem to learn a bit about our laws as seen from the gun owners side of things.  Since she is a supporter but not a gun owner I don't think she understood the magazine issue and how that would make so many modern and not modern gun illegal. . . .

I also heard from GOAL tonight that according to two separate articles from the State House News Service the House voted to send the Governor's gun bill to the Judiciary Committee, but the Senate voted to send it to the Public Safety Committee.  This is great news as things will stay in limbo until they sort this out. . . maybe all those emails and calls are working.

Overall a good start I think.  We need to keep the pressure up but it is working folks!

Taxachusetts Wants it's name back. . .

As if taking our gun rights is not enough now that Patrick is a lame duck he wants to finish off our state.

He wants to up the income tax 2%, talks of another $.30 on the gas tax and more. . .

How is it they don't get it?  Folks are out of work, folks have not had raises in years, many have taken pay cuts just to keep working and not gotten the cut back. . . . BUT NOOOOOO they want more money out of us. . . .

Someone please tell me why the Mass voters are so slow to learn. . . when will they wake up and make this a two party state so we can start making the system work for the tax payer again instead of the illegals and welfare cases. .. .

I can't begin to tell you how badly I want out of this state. . . . unfortunately I can't move at the moment and my family wants to go warm, so NH is out. . . . but I will get out some day. . . .

Boston Pro Gun Right Rally report and photos

OK folks I spent the better part of the day in Boston with a thousand or more of my closest friends at the State House to protest the insane new gun laws they want like Mags that only hold 7 rounds, Mandatory insurance, Guns can't be stored at home. . . .

HERE is the link to GOAL and their info on the rally

I did not see any counter protest or hear any.  One woman was there before we started and was arguing as a teacher that they don't need guns in schools and did not want armed teachers.  She did not seem to want guard either and liked to think they were not needed.  She also was stuck on the Constitution was all about muskets . . .  oh well. . . .

Lots of passing cars and trucks were honking and waving and showing support.  Many who walked by stopped to talk and seemed to be neutral if not supporters of us and gun rights.  I talked to one or two and they did not know what the new laws were and seemed to agree they were a bit nuts when I explained the insurance and such to price our rights out of reach. . .  I think we can win many folks over to our side if we can just get the word out as to what they want to push through on us. . . .

Anyway here are some photos from today. . . phone is not the best for this but here they are. . . .

Here is the statehouse. . . our crowd filled the front of it,  down both sides of the street, and they had one side of the street blocked for overflow that we needed. . . so the road was one way only for the event.  The Boston PD did a great job keeping everyone safe and cars moving! Thanks to the BPD!

This was across the street from the State House looking at the common before things got started

Here is the crowd as things get going before the speakers started

This is while the speakers were starting. . . we did not have a sound system at first since they would not give the permit for one but eventually got a megaphone to work with

More of the crowd.  I was on the edge so I could hold my sign for passing folks and cars. . . down by Fox News

More Crowd

This is the crowd from across the street.  We filled the sidewalk and two lanes of road all the way down the  front of the State House. . . a good turn out which is probably why we got little TV time on the news.

More from across the street.  You can see the yellow line in the road.

Looking toward the Common and the crowd on the the other side of the street

One of the signs there. . . lots of good signs

And a few more photos of the mass of protesters. . .

An Open Letter to the Mass Legislature

Here is a copy of what I just sent to my reps on Beacon Hill

I am sorry, it feels like I am filling your inbox with email but I don’t know how else to express my frustration with how gun control is being handled and it just grows with each new news report.

I am a law abiding gun owner with a home, wife and three kids.  I have lived in this state all my live but I feel like I am a second class citizen.   I hold a Masters degree and am employed.  I have to pass a background check every six years to renew my permit.  I have to pass a check every time I purchase a gun.  My permit requires that I state if I have been hospitalized for any mental illness.  I am fingerprinted and that is sent to the state and Fed. . .

Yet after all this I am treated like a criminal for wanting to exercise my right to own a gun and I feel like Beacon Hill will keep piling it on until I have the right but can’t use it because of the cost.  I pay $100 for my permit every six years now they want me to buy insurance?  Why?  I have never hurt anyone.  How does this stop crime?  Buy one gun a month to stop folks from buying guns for the bad guys. . .  Why?  If I buy a gun with my clean record so I can see it to someone else that is a straw purchase and already illegal on the Federal Level – can’t we just enforce that law?

We currently can only get low capacity 10 round magazines in our state but now they want us to go to seven round?  Why?  Do you really think criminals will go to seven round mags?  Neither do I.  The most basic and most popular standard .22 rifle the Remington 10-22 is a 10 round mag/10 shot will that now be illegal in the state?

Please – we need to look at passing mental health laws, dealing with gang violence, and increasing the penalties for using ANY weapon (not just guns) in a crime if we want to fix things.  We need to fix our economy so kids have jobs and don’t get into gangs – they need a future that they can see. . .  Fixing these issues is a huge undertaking I agree, and we all need to work on it.  More restrictions on lawful gun owners won’t do any of that.

We need to admit we already have some of the strictest gun laws in the country and if we would just enforce them we would be fine.  We do not need new laws.  The good guys follow the laws, the criminals don’t.  Why are we treated as criminals when we follow the law?

I look forward to hearing from you and where you stand on these new gun laws being proposed.

Thank you for your time

Think About it

I was emailed this quote

I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said, 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said, "Of course it is loaded, it can't work without bullets!" She then asked, "Are you that afraid of someone evil coming into your house?" My reply was, "No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too."

Gun Control

You like your rights?

You want to keep them?

You written to your state and fed reps today?

New York took 20 min to ram through a BS bill to say they F gun owners . . . I hope they lose big in court and I hope they get sued soon!

I also want to point you to a blog that has a great comment on the shooting. . .

Go read, it is short and good. . .

Well off to write my reps again. . . don't want them to think I forgot. . .

And let them know you are sick of the smoke screen . . . Time for them to get back to fixing our economy, jobs, shrink the budget. . . . drop the gun BS

Write Congress

And here is a nice page that lets you do that real easy

Executive Order?

Good article on what Obama can do with Executive Orders HERE

Go read it.

I think most of what he can do is minor, and a lot of it is actually what gun owners have been saying since day one here - ENFORCE EXISTING LAW and look at how we deal with mental health issues.

He may ban a few imports but to me that may be a plus as it will not change or limit what is made in the USA and I would love to see American workers pick up the slack.

We will see, keep you eye on the ball folks

Filibuster Questions. . . . . .

Can someone please tell me why the Democrats now think getting rid of the Filibuster rule in the Senate is such a great idea?

When the Republicans wanted to do it they called it the Nuclear option and it was going to be a bad thing. . . end of the world and all that. . .

How quickly they forget.

I wonder how well this has been thought through . . . and what will they say when the Republicans are back in charge some day and they start overturning all those programs like Obamacare, or wipeout the gun laws they are trying to put in place. . . . How about privatize Social Security or pushing for a stronger Patriot Act?  Wipe out immigration reform or pass who knows what to deal with illegals and our open boarders. . . Recognize gay rights or wipe them out?  This is not good no matter how you look a it

Folks this is still a bad idea no matter who comes up with it.  The Filibuster is critical in making the parties work together on laws so one side does not ram through all it wants.  We are a republic and they represent us.  We are not all Rep or Dem or Ind. . . we all need a say in what is going on in DC.

So please, no matter what side you support in DC look at the facts and tell them not to touch the filibuster rule.  What helps you now will be used against you later in DC and it is about time we all learned that.  Before any law is passed think about how the other side will use it before you get too excited because some day they will get the chance to do just that. . . .

Some Gun Rights Info

And some links:

HERE are some good points for writing your Politicians to try to prevent what is coming. . .

HERE is a graph on what weapons are used in most murders in the US. . .Not Assault Rifles by the way

And here is a link on mass shootings and how they were stopped by armed citizens not police

To add insult to injury the anti-gun folks now are using threats to try to silence us. .  HERE is a letter from a Marine that is now getting threats from them

But the Marine HERE tries to teach CNN what the Second Amendment says. . .

And as always Marko's great piece on guns and civilization here

And something to think on:

"I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon - if I can. I seek opportunity - not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.
I refuse to barter incentive for a dole; I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of Utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficience nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat.
It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, to enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say: 'This, with God's help, I have done.'
All of this is what it means to be an entrepreneur."

Growth of Gun Rights and Civil Rights

There is a great graphic HERE showing how gun rights have spread across this country since 1986

In a nutshell there were 16 states that would not even issue a carry permit in 86, now there is one and it is on court order to fix that.

There was one state in 86 that used no permits at all to own or buy guns now there are four. . .

In 1986 only 8 states were shall issue. . . you asked you got a permit if you had a clean record. . . in 2011 only 7 states are NOT shall issue. . . .

Over the last 20 years the FBI has recorded a 50% drop in violent crime in the USA. . .  wonder why?

This is why the gun grabbers are dancing in the blood of little kids. . . they are thrilled and will use this to try to reverse the growth of civil rights across our country.  Don't let them.

Open Letter to the Mass Legislature

Dear Legislator;

I am writing you as a law abiding gun owner in Massachusetts.  We already have to go through background checks and sign off that we have not been hospitalized for any mental illness before we pay $100 for our six year permit.  We have background checks run when we purchase a gun and all guns must be stored in locked containers or in such a way as to prevent unauthorized use.  We have two different lists for handguns that are confusing and prevent us from buying many new models of handgun even though they are sold to the rest of the country.  We have an Assault Weapon band and are prevented from buying new standard capacity magazines we can only buy low capacity 10 rd or less.

Before you pass any more laws I ask that you truthfully ask yourself if another law will make any difference in our safety.  I also ask that you be ready to explain how it does to me and other gun owners.

The ideas I am hearing from Beacon Hill are great sound bites but they will do nothing but put more burden on the law abiding and do nothing to stop the criminal.

Let’s face the facts here.    Mass shootings are very rare or they would not make the news like they do.  The shooters are already breaking multiple gun laws and committing assault and murder.  Will one more law stop that?  Most criminals do not get their guns legally, nor do they have permits so they are not subject to the background checks and exams that I am as a legal gun owner.  The criminals will not have or apply for the gun insurance I am hearing talked about and they won’t limit how many guns they get illegally per month.

Please stop punishing law abiding citizens for the criminals and their acts.  Adding the requirement for insurance will only price self defense out of reach of many law abiding citizen that may need a gun for self defense from criminals, stalker or a violent Ex.  A right that cannot be exercised due to cost is a right denied.  How would this be any different?

Please look at the facts first.  Over the past twenty years violent crime has dropped 50% while gun laws have become more lax and gun ownership has grown all over this country.  All but one state now allows concealed carry of a gun and many require no permits yet the FBI data shows crime is down.  The AR-15 rifle may look like the military gun but it is looks only.  It is a semi-automatic gun less powerful than most hunting rifles.  It is also one of the most popular guns around since it is easy to use easy to shoot and easy to care for.  My daughter lover it for the lack of kick and enjoys it at the range.  How can you outlaw one of the most common guns in America?  The Heller case says you can’t if I read it right. . . .

Please stand up for the law abiding people of this state and say no to new gun laws.  I can go on and on with facts and figures showing that they don’t prevent crime, gun free zones don’t work and all that but I won’t.  If you want that data please let me know and I will pass it on to you.

All I can do is ask you to follow your oath to protect our rights and our Constitution by not voting for any new gun control.  Gun laws only affect the law abiding and we are not the problem to begin with.

Thanks

I hope this is true. . .

COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !!!

Guess our national leaders didn't expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the
Columbine High School shootings in LittletonColorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national
leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.

They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript:

"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in
America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!
My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"
- Darrell Scott

The End?

And so this may be the end of freedom in our country folks. .

Not with a bang or a fight, but with the bleating of sheep crying to be protected from the bogyman.

The sheep won't face the facts that they will be in more danger without arms, from both the criminal and the government but the sheep don't care. . . they don't get it.

We now get to wait and see if state and federal governments will disarm or try to disarm us.  I don't want to think of where that will lead but one thing is certain, free people are not bared from the use of arms, we will be slaves if we are disarmed . . . .

Senator Dianne Feinstein what will you tell the victims?

You own guns, you have armed guards and a carry permit. . . .

Why do you deserve this and the average citizen does not?

Are you better than us?

You also have all the data and facts that gun control and gun free zones don't work but you ignore them. . . why?

Why do you want the people of our country helpless in the face of criminals, their evil and the government?

What will you tell the women who is raped because you took away her ability to own a gun and defend herself?

What will you tell the mother who is beaten or killed by the stalker ex that abused her and she could not defend herself because you took the gun away from her. . . what will you tell her kids?

What will you tell the parent who is the only survivor of a home invasion that has taken the lives of his/her wife and kids because the criminal had weapons you denied him/her?

What will you tell the Gay Rights Activist that gets beaten or killed because they could not defend themselves or their loved ones?  Their family?

What will you tell all the minorities in the country when you turn us over to mob rule and might is right?  Guns make people safer, guns take away the advantage of the stronger, the gang or more vicious criminal over the smaller person or person who can't run because they are disabled or have other they are responsible for - such as KIDS. . .

Why do you want to turn our country over to the criminals and madmen who mean us harm?

Why do you fear the good law abiding citizens of our country?

Please tell me because I just don't get it. . . . .

News Paper list legal gun owners addresses

I find it funny that the news paper in NY that has shown little thought about releasing the names of all the legal law abiding gun permit owners in the area now fears they may have pissed off someone and has hired armed guards.

I guess they can have armed guards but we should not be allowed to protect ourselves?  Women, heck all of us should just give in if attacked and hope they are OK with beating or raping us but won't kill us?  That is wrong folks.

Think about this for a moment.  How many of those permit holders may have gotten the permit and gun to protect themselves from a stalker or abusive Ex?  Are they supposed to hire a guard 24/7?

What if they had to move to hide from the stalker or abusive Ex and now the paper just gave away the new address?  Is the paper now legally liable for telling the bad guy where they live?  Put yourself in their shoes for a moment.  You thought you got away from the ex that beat you and the kids and now he know where you live. . .

Just because it is legal to publish does not mean it is right to do.  I hope if any one comes to harm over this they sue the paper and win big.

And to help drive their agenda CNN is all over this story trying to make the LEGAL LICENSED GUN OWNERS look bad for exercising their rights.  Talk about mixed up.

The Police carry these guns for a reason.  They deal with this every day and know what tool works best.  Shouldn't law abiding citizens have the same tools?  Then think about this. . . when the cops go into danger they most often know they are going into harms way and they can and do call for back up.  The average person on the street does not go looking for trouble, does not knowingly go into danger, and does not have back up. . .  the attacker is not going to give you the time to call the cops first. . . . So don't we need at a minimum the same tools the cops have to keep us and our families safe?

Then add to this that CNN is pushing a reunion meeting that the theater was trying to do for the shooting victims of the theater mass shooting a while back.  You know the one that the guy went out of his way to because it was the only gun free zone around and he drove past a number of other theaters to get to because of that?  All the families had to say was the idea of a free ticket was disgusting to them and they would not help the theater drive up sales. . . good for them!

This is getting disgusting.  The news folks are driving a political agenda not based on facts.  Facts show that gun control does not work.  Didn't work in the UK, didn't work Down Under, and does not work here.  Time to move on and deal with the real issues facing our county like the economy and out of control spending not to mention all the people out of work. . .

Data on Gun Control fail from the gun grabbers

Got a bunch of stats HERE on how gun control has failed. . .

Funny how there own data should be telling the gun control folks that it is safer in states and areas where folks have access to guns and right to carry.

The better the grade they get from the Brady gun grabbers the more crime they have. . .

Go read the whole thing!

And to finish it off here is a FORBES article on how "Assault Weapons" is just use to fool folks that don't know guns into thinking the folks in DC are doing something.  DC knows these laws don't work, they were in place when Columbine happen and CT still has an Assault Weapon Ban but it did no good.

2013 - the Year of the Trials

While sitting here watching Season of the Witch things make much more sense.  This movie is about two Crusaders who realize the killing of women and children in the crusade is wrong and leave only to be captured and forced to help take a witch to trial for causing the black death.

This makes me think of the insanity we are dealing with today.  We have a culture that has many problems yet wants an easy answer instead of facing reality.  We have politicians who want the easy answer and ignore the facts presented to them.  Yes we have a violence problem in this country, but it is still less than in many European countries with their gun control.  The UK is constantly held up to us as a success  but it is not.  Look at the facts.  We have 400+ violent crimes per 100,000 people, the UK has 600+ and that is down from over 2K+ violent crimes per 100K

But like the folks of old who knew no better and blamed the witch for the black death, we blame the gun.  Of course folks are killed every day by knives, bats, clubs, fists. . ..  Mass murder has been done with bombs, gasoline, and guns but only the gun is viewed as bad. . ..

Why?

I have to wonder if our leaders have gone insane or just cannot face the facts.  Sen Dianne Feinstein is 79 years old.  And she who should know better, who has her own armed security and gun permit is the one calling the loudest to disarm the law abiding citizens while completely ignoring the facts and data that show this won’t work.  Has she lost it?  I wonder if she is becoming senile.  Why else would you have such hate for your fellow man that you would disarm them in the face of such facts?  They want to ban assault weapons when they account for about 1% or less of crime.

Gun control is not about guns, it is not about safety.  We have the proof that it neither makes you safer or take the guns out of the hands of criminals.  All that is left is that it is about control.

What do they want to do so badly that they need to disarm America to do it?   Why are they working so hard to drive a wedge between our people to splinter this country?  Who gains from this action?

As a Dad with kids I am responsible for I must admit I am scared.  I see many dark clouds on the horizon for our country.  We have a fiscal mess, welfare and government dependency grows.  Morals are in decline and we teach people that all is well if they feel good.  That their right to feel good overrides others rights.   We are falling apart as we put ourselves before others and our country.  Our leaders forget their oaths and some call to be rid of our Constitution.  They seek only power and more power over us.

Where will this take us?  When will this end? . . . . . this year will be a trial.  Our country is heading into another recession thanks to our leaders on both sides.  They forget the will of the people they are supposed to be serving.

Folks it is time to call, time to write, time to contact your reps for the alternative is not thinkable.  Remind them who they work for and demand they fix things.  The fiscal cliff was only the start.  We need to stop fighting among ourselves and start fixing this country.  We need to cut spending and rebuild our economy.  We need to tell them we don’t want gun control.  We demand our rights be respected.  We want a strong country with a strong economy.   We need to take pride in our country again and what we can do.  We need to tell DC that we want our rights back and smaller government with less spending.  We can not spend our way out of this with other peoples money.

We can do it.  IF we don’t then this country is done.  All that is left is another civil war and we will all lose if it comes to that.  As others have already discussed we will probably not come out of a civil war with a free country.  Most likely we would have fragments of the US run by dictators and darkness.

2013 will be a great test for the USA. . . .

Our founders set up a system that works, we can make it work again that is our only chance, for us and our kids.  Make it work, make them respect the Constitution and hold them accountable in DC for what they do.  Vote out the ones that won’t follow our Constitution, impeach if needed but work in the system.  It may not be perfect but it is the best that we have come up with yet.
