Kid Fun

Well just got the youngest to bed.  I kept saying bed?  and he would say bed and move closer to the stairs.  Once I said OK, bed.  Well, that was not good enough. . . he wanted a ride to bed so he climbed up on the couch and gets on my back with his arms around my neck.  He then proudly announces "backpack on" and sits there waiting for me to move.

And yes, he got his ride up to bed. . . .

What can I say, he is 3 and knows what he wants. . . .

I weep for our young

I went to my daughters 8th grade class research presentation. They worked in teams of 4 and had to put up a display on their research on a topic they picked.

The good news - my daughter did Pearl Harbor - they called it "How the Japanese committed suicide in WWII". Did a good bit of research and could tell you all about it.

Next to them was a group for gun control. I was told to be good so only asked a few questions -
"Do you think taking away gun will make us safer? - answer - YES"
"What about the Second Amendment? Is that a problem? - Answer - yes, we need to get rid of guns, they are only for war"
"You think criminals won't have guns if we outlaw them? - Answer - Yes, it would be much safer"
I was told we needed to ban all the guns since they are only for war. . . . I wished them well and mentioned that it would be completely Un-Constitutional. . . . They didn't get it. . . .

They also thought the AWB was the best law we had and that most support it although it can't get renewed.

Talk about research, I am betting on maybe a half hour on the Brady web page and maybe an hour to make the display. . .

And I use to think we had a good school system here. Total failure to understand the subject or the Constitution.

ON the bright side there were many good presentations, two on Navy SeALs, one on Green Berets. They also had good ones on computer, ads, soda, the 60's and many others.

Overall it was fun, but there are some real fools out there. I thought we had better

Kids. . .

Can't afford them (well, I could before all the nice taxes went up/market went down), can't well, you know. . .

It is official - the oldest needs braces. . . - OUCH

and the joke my company calls dental insurance will cover $1500 lifetime max. . . . better than nothing but only 20% or so of what this will cost. . . never mind anything else that comes up like if any teeth need to be pulled.

What a racket. . . .

Well, just another happy day as a parent. . . . Sure, like I have money left after the government and the mortgage. . . now if I can just get the kids to stop eating everything will be fine. Food - it is an addiction really. . . .

Payback

I don't know what I ever did to my parents but now that I have a son the parent curse is taking effect. That boy gets into everything, can figure out ways around, over, under or through most if not all road blocks we have put up, and to top it off won't let us sleep. . . .

Last night he decided about 4 AM it was time to get up. Kept moaning and making noise in his room. OK, picked him up to bring in with us. . . ya right. . . worked for a bit then he decided he did not want to sleep with us but did like smacking me in the head. . . back to his own bed with him. . . . back to his moaning and making noise because no one else is up to play with. . . .

Top it of with he goes to sleep after we are all up and getting the older two ready for school. As of 8:30 he was sleeping in. . .

I don't know what I did but payback sucks. . . .

Halloween

Well, Jack had a good second Halloween:

His sisters had a good time too. . .

I did OK with my cloak and a long poll and an oil lamp. I even had a car stop and tell me it was a cool costume. . . not bad for something I came up with at 2 in the afternoon. . . . we had a long night walking around but every one had fun.

Hope you all had a safe and happy Samhain or Halloween. . .

Parents anyone?

I think we have gone F'in nutters up here to put it nicely. . . .

From local TV news:
GLOUCESTER (WBZ) ― There's a stunning twist to the sudden rise in teen pregnancies at Gloucester High School. 17 students there are expecting and, according to a published report, most of them became that way on purpose.

Time Magazine is reporting that nearly half of the girls confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. None of the girls is older than 16.

And the fools in this state brag about our socialist wonderland. . . Ya, I wonder about it all right. We are so busy being liberals around here that we forgot about any kind of family values or caring for our kids. I get weird looks for not having my kids in 5 million different things all the time and actually like spending time with them at home. . . .

Sounds like more folks need to slow down and start to figure out that we work and play sports and such for fun but the important thing is being there for the kids you have. You had them, you know how you got them. . . . if you have kids it was by choice, now raise them right and give them the time and energy they need and stop sending them off to be baby sat so you can do what you want to. You gave up that right when you had kids get over it. . . . .

Fun with your Kids

Had a bit of fun last night driving the oldest daughter crazy. . . she was doing a school project and need to make a flamingo. Sooooo she asked what the color of the legs of a Chilean Flamingo was. . .

This began with “what color are flamingos to start with and if they can fly why would they stay someplace that was chilly. . . . now if you assume that they stay and get chilly then the legs would turn blue. . . of course if they are pink to start with then they probably start to look more purple than blue depending on the temperature. If you let them get too chilly then they become flamigcicles and all bets are off. . . but if they freeze you can still use them for lawn ornaments. . . . ”

At this point I was hit by a flying flip flop thrown by the same child I was trying to help. . . . I tell you I get no respect. . .

Yes, I did eventually push her to google it and get the right answer. . . . Of course the first thing I asked today was if she gave her chilly flamingos scarves to keep warm when she made them for her project . . . .

Heard in the house last night

My oldest has once again proven she is my child. . . .

Last night while watching Weaponology on TV they were covering the development of the Sniper Rifle and Snipers. . . . During the show the following exchange was heard –

TV – “ the longest sniper kill was 2600+ yards, over 1.5 miles”

Daugher – “ over a mile and a half, COOL”

Later that night on Future Weapons, the show had on it a new gun from Israel that let you look and shoot around corners. Daughter again stopped in the TV room, saw the new gun and I quote “ that’s neat!”

Yep, she is definitely my kid. . . .
