North Korea

Well according to CNN they are at it again. . . .

The North Koreans need a wall built around them that we can seal like any other nut house.  What is with those crazies?

I suspect that things have taken a turn for the worst in NK and now to distract the masses from the fool in charge they are going to try to start a war with the south.

Where the HELL is China to reign in their nut case friend??? They should be all over this fool putting him back in line.

And remember we have a bunch of troops sitting over there that will be a speed bump should Dear Nutcase invade the south.  That and we will have a third war on our hands with Obama the Helpless in the White House.

Not a good way to start the Holiday Season.  Now we get to wait and see how this effects the world economy. . . . .

The Stimulus is over?

CNN tells us the big bang from the stimulus has passes, read it HERE

Not sure why we are surprised that this ran out of steam.  The government dumped tones of cash it did not have into things like new car and new home credits then wondered why the markets didn't stay up. . . .

I am no economist but it does not take a rocket scientist to know that you have a limited number of folks looking for a new house or new car at any time.  Now the stimulus was great for getting them moving to buy, but it did not make MORE people able to buy.  What it did do is compress the sales that would have been made over say the next year into a six month run.

Looks good on the books, but like a drug user who gets high the market crashed when the money and buyers runs out.  It don't just crash, it goes lower than it was at the start.  Now you still have folks that want to sell their homes, or dealers with cars on the lot, but all the buyers have bought, it is over until a new bunch of folks need the product.

The Fed knew this, I can't see how they didn't.  This was a ton of cash blown for temporary good numbers to make them look good.

Folks there is not good quick fix for this mess.  We need to deal with the pain, learn what works in the new economy, and rebuild ourselves.  The Fed can't do it for us.  We will need to learn new trades, new skills, and take the time for new companies and new markets to get going.  In the mean time we need to deal with the pain, and avoid foolish fixes that will just make this last longer. . . .

Something to Think About

Folks, as they try to blame this economic mess on Bush please remember it started with Carter and got worse with Clinton as they tried to make it affordable for everyone to buy a home. They made the banks ease up on what was needed to make a loan, and then the government with Fanny and Freddy bought up the bad loans. Now we are dealing with issues from the Enron fix that has killed the banks so the money is not flowing.

This is not the time you want to raise taxes on people or businesses. Obama and a Dem led congress will try to tax and spend their way out of this. That is the exact wrong move if you listen to the economists. Raising taxes will just make this recession turn into a depression or worse.

McCain admits he doesn’t know the economy, but at least he admits it. He will bring in advisers that can help. Obama thinks he can fix it… He does not know what he does not know as they say in business school.

Neither candidate is a good choice for this election with the economy as the big issue. We need a Warren Buffet or other money wiz as President to try to fix this but that is not going to happen . . . we have the choices that we have.

With the market only open for about 10 minute and down 700 points we need to think only one thing here for this election. Who will fix the economy. I don’t think McCain can but at least he knows he can’t so he knows enough to get good advisers. Every time I hear Obama talk he is taxing and socializing things. Obama’s plan won’t work. We just blew a trillion dollars on a bail out (socialist idea) and since then the market has LOST 2000 points.

Someone please get an expert to take control of this PLEASE!!!! Get Congress and the government out and lets get some of our greatest economic minds involved and do what they say. . . and I doubt raising taxes will come up. . . . we need the government to stop taking money (taxes) out of our economy and let it get back on it’s feet. . . .

Economy

Obama - worst since the depression, maybe we are in a depression
McCain - economy is fundamentally sound

lets see, unemployment is 6% now, was 18% or more in depression. Wages are flat, but we have had only one quarter of shrinking, most have been growth quarters, even if it is slow. . .

Now things are tight, no question about that. We have cut back on a lot of stuff around my house but I don't think we are in a depression. I am very scared that if Obama gets in that his policy's of tax and spend will send us into a deep recession or depression if he gets in.

We need to change some polices in Washington and I think McCain and Palin are the ones to do this. I think we also need to face reality and stop handing out home loans to folks that can't afford them by having the government/tax payers (you and me) pay for them when they default. This don't work as the failure of Fanny May and Freddy Mac have shown.

I think things will hurt for a while as we learn our lesson about easy credit and get things back in order. There is no good way to do this that won't hurt. We should have sucked it up in the early 2000's when the tech bubble burst but we didn't so now we have to. We need to stop putting things off and pay the bills now so that we can get things back on track.

People that bought houses and boats and stuff they can't afford will get hurt, they will loose the house or the boat or will have to sell that extra stuff but that is what happens when you buy all they stuff on credit. It will hurt, no way around it.

If Obama gets in things will get worst. The more money the government hands out to try to fix this the worse it will get. . . . Remember folks, that money is not free, it is coming from you and me, out of our taxes. For every bail out they pass we will have higher taxes, more debt on our kids, and less money in our own pockets today and tomorrow to pay for it.

I want someone who knows how to say NO in the White House, someone who knows how to cut taxes, cut pay outs, and live in their means. . . Too bad the best we have is McCain because I don't think any current politician will really do what has to be done, they don't want to tell folks to suck it up and deal so we can fix things right. They also don't want to tell the welfare folks to get a job if you want a house, we won't pay for it or you any more. . . .

Ya, I know, that person will never get elected because folks' don't want to face facts but I can dream. . . Until then I will pray that Obama doesn't get in and finish us off. . .

And going by the folks calling into the radio station most say the economy is doing well and their companies are doing well this year or even gowning. The recession seems to be housing and banks only. . . at least those are the folks saying things are down. . .

What do you think? How is your company doing?
