Obama Forever?

For the last eight years I have listened to the left as they yelled, screamed and feared that George W. would not leave office at the end of his second term as prescribed by law. . . I know the left does not believe it but he will leave office today. Had he tried to stay in power he would have been removed by force if needed by the citizens of this great land, both on the left and right. The two term limit was set down as law in the 22 Amendment although almost all Presidents followed the two term limit since it was “set” by George Washington.

The 22 Amendment reads:
Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

Section 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

Now there is a congressman trying to stir up trouble by removing this Amendment now that his guy is in office:
109th CONGRESS
1st Session
H. J. RES. 24
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
February 17, 2005
Mr. HOYER (for himself, Mr. BERMAN, Mr. SENSENBRENNER, Mr. SABO, and Mr. PALLONE) introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

Can I say this is a bad idea? If Obama has any of the brains I have been hearing about and really does want to unify the country he will help to squash this quick. This kind of partisanship has been going on for 8 to 16 years now depending on who you talk to. It has not helped one bit. The term limit for the President is a good idea, good enough that it has passed all the hurdles to be an Amendment.

Now we have had bad Amendments before (see Prohibition of alcohol – 18th Amendment) but most have stood the test of time for a reason. And for all those pro Obama folks that want him in for life remember what you do will go for the next guy too. . . . How would you like George W. in for life?

Obama needs to unit this country; we can not stand long if we stay divided this way. He won’t be able to do that with idiots in Congress trying to pass crap like this while our economy and our way of life crumbles around the voters heads. . . . And the jokers that proposed this bill should be thrown out by the voters next time around. They forget who they work for. . .
