New England Teachers

Funny how mass gets a D for our teachers from the National Council on Teacher Quality - says we give tenure too easy and keep bad teachers while not retaining young good ones.

I find this really funny after reading in the Boston Globe yesterday how MA is one of the least Religious states in the nation. If you read the comments to that article all the self important fools were shouting about how great we were not religious and how that was because of our high level of education here. Some even went as far as saying that our (New England) great education let us avoid religion since we were too smart for it. . . . and how the south was a bunch of dumb Red Necks and that is why they are religious down there. . .. Before you get too excited know this – the South did as good as or better on these scores than we did. New England got either D or F on the scores (three of each covering all NE states). The south got Ds, two Cs and a B. . .

Guess that doesn’t really hold since we don’t have that good a school system here any more does it? What I do think holds is that we have poor teachers, can’t keep most of our good teachers because we give tenure to easy and protect poor performance. We also seem to have lots of Liberals that want a socialist state, high taxes, and chase away business and jobs. We also have lots of gun control in the cities like Boston so we have high crime rates. It is funny what passes for smarts around here. . . .

Every day I am here I just get more and more determined to move south when the economy turns enough that I can sell my house. Oh ya, another thing about MA – you are stuck here. . . . People are leaving faster than moving in so you can’t sell. . . .

I love this state. . . .
