Another Mass Moment

Boston city councilors are mulling a scheme to keep their business secret from the taxpayers who elected them, creating a cone of silence that would make the Hub the only city in the commonwealth exempt from the state’s Open Meeting Law.

An 80-page report the council takes up today recommends asking the Legislature for an exemption from the law that requires all cities and towns to conduct their business in public. An exemption would mean citizens have no legally guaranteed right to attend council meetings, or even receive meeting minutes.

Isn’t that nice. . . They want a government that is not answerable to the people and that the people have no right to participate in beyond the one vote. In MA, once these hacks get in they are practically there for life, and now they want to be able to do everything in secret so they don’t have to take credit for their actions.

This should scare the heck out of folks. The basics of this country is the government is by the people and for the people. When they have to start hiding what they are doing we should fear what they are doing. We are not talking about National Security here how we will defend our nation from XYZ. . . This is the Boston City Council. What could they be doing that the citizens of Boston should not have a legal reason to know about it?

In a proper America they would be laughed at for even suggesting they need this secrecy. . . but Boston and MA are the home of the back room deal and life long political Hacks (mainly Dems, surprise surprise) who have too much power now and ignore the will of the voters every day. At least for now we know who it is that is ignoring us. . . If they can close these meetings and even the minutes to them we will never know who is fighting for us and who is against us in our government. That is a danger no mater what party you are part of. . . .
