20/20 if I only had a gun

Going to watch, but I have to say from the opening credits it looks more like an ad for the Brady group and gun control. No attempt to give an unbiased facts based report. We will see. It looks like this is an attempt to convince us that we need gun control and the government and cops to protect us and that you will never be able to protect yourself. Guns just put you in more danger. . .

You can't protect yourself. . . . .

More later as the show goes on

Update

Nice set up for the first one. Guy with NO concealed training shown how he can't get his gun out quick and use it in a drill for an attack. . . DUH. What a set up to make gun owners look bad. the civilians had at most 100 hours on a range, most had less. . . all newbies. One claims to be a gun expert with 100s of hours. None claim any training. Other two students also fail the test. Somehow I doubt anyone that did well would have gotten air time.

Show pushes how much training cops have that you don't. . . . Too bad most cops get to the range for qualification once a year and that is it. . . . more lies. Most cops do not train the way they talk about it on the show, at least non that I have talked to.

Facts are that most civilians that are in a shooting is that they are more accurate than the cops, and less likely to hit the wrong person. . . no mention of that so far.

Update

Dad takes kid to gun range. . .
shows dad taking kid to the range to shoot automatic Uzi and AK. No .22 or semis. Also goes over how the kid in MA killed himself with the Uzi.

Then quickly goes on to show kids that shoot their friends and kids playing with guns left out for them to play with. Showed the kids playing with guns after the Eddy Eagle program like one class will change them. I doubt any of these kids have been trained before. Parents are shocked. . . don't know why if they never discussed it with them.

Then move on to high school kids finding again that probably never trained but they did a bit better. Still did not do well. Then they set it up to make them look bad with a producer acting as a kid to do peer pressure. Wow. Who would have thought that untrained folks are dangerous with guns. . . again DUH. No info on if any of these kids grew up around guns or had any experience or training with them. I would bet no the way they acted. More proof that hiding guns and lack of training on them is more dangerous than training.

More examples of kids shooting other kids with guns, no kids hunting, no kids at the range with dad or mom like normal folks. No kids learning to shoot, no comments on the four rules, no safety info. . . Just the one side. More propaganda. . .

Update

Guns in Florida. Follow this little black kid who lives in the wrong side of town as he talks about gun fights in his neighborhood. Too much shooting at night. Kid interviews other kids who lost parents to guns in the area. There is a cop who says we know who killed your friends dad but we can't prove it in court since no one will go to court or tell the cops. They talk about the gangs and how easy it is to get a gun from the gangs here.

Another big surprise here. . live in the ghetto and there are gangs and guns. . .. DUH. More pushing how folks get killed by guns, no further mention that this is a big gang area. Most are probably gang bangers. . . .

Update

Next, how many guns can you buy in a hour at a gun show with $5 grand. . . wonder if this is a straw purchase? Are they breaking the law on this? should be interesting to see. No mention on if he has a licence or not and what checks were done for that.

Buyer is in VA at a gun show. Lost his sister in Virgina Tech shooting. Pushing the gun show loop hole angle. . . Buys a gun in line to the show, a Glock like the one used at VT. Push no background check. Don't know the laws in VA, anyone know what the rules are for person to person sales in VA. Pushing that ANYONE can buy in a gun show. . . Got an AK clone, again no background check. He was asked for a licence for two shot guns but did not have to show it for an extra $100. Ends up after an hour and a "trunk load of guns". Story says this is the loophole. Private sellers are the problem for crime guns and anyone can get one at a show. No mention if any of the sellers he bought from had a store or were private sellers. Talked about the NRA and VA legislature not answering calls. Had a Fed cop there to say all the sales were legal with no questions asked. Ends with him missing his sister and how she would want him to keep pushing for closing the loophole. All the guns he got were tuned over to the cops.

Next - the danger of shooting a friend.
Quick recap of all the shootings recently and the experts say the best thing to do is run. . . Other expert says call for help on cell phone, hide or play dead. Cops saying think about your friends that you are putting in danger by defending yourself. Oh, one kid has a martial arts black belt - what does this have to do with guns? no idea. . . . None of these folks have done any training with guns to defend. No one thinks of bystanders. Then they get into folks that have killed family members and cops hit civilians so you will too. . . no comments on actually training to defend yourself.

Ends with comment that 60,000 folks die from guns. . .

Also push that the "trained" person in the shooting test did not do well and said he was not trained for this

What was missing -

No mention or talk with anyone who has successfully defended themselves with a gun.
No mention of the VA Law school shooting a year or two before the VT shooting that was stopped by armed students.
Pushed all the training cops get but kept showing SWAT teams. . . Most cops I have talked to only shoot once or twice a year to qualify. Some do more if they like shooting, many don't.

Overall a sales pitch for the gun control crowd. Very one sided "reporting"

Update - Another look at the show HERE (thanks Tam) and HERE from Snowflakes in Hell, And HERE for a Gun Rights look at it

Nice Quote on the lead reporter from the show :
“You know, I wanted to sit on a jury once and I was taken off the jury. And the judge said to me, ‘Can, you know, can you tell the truth and be fair?’ And I said, ‘That’s what journalists do.’ And everybody in the courtroom laughed. It was the most hurtful moment I think I’ve ever had.” – Diane Sawyer, Good Morning America, 7/12/07

She still does not get it

You forgot where they quoted some unnamed BATFU wonk as saying gun shows are a huge source of crime guns.

Funny, that's not what the FBI says.
