Cops have to GET to you and that takes time you may not have. Even in the best area you are looking at 5-10 minutes before help gets there. . . Bad guy can do a lot of damage in that time and be gone with you dead on the floor. . .
The point of a restraining order is to help defend your actions in court if you have to defend yourself because the object of that order ignored it. It is only Plan A, you need a Plan B just in case.
This is sad, and could have been avoided
