Memorial Day Mass Moment
Go read the whole story and see how far we have fallen in this country. This should be a non-issue except the nanny state wants us to fear guns and anything to do with them. What they really want is us to fear self defense and personal responsibility and let the nanny state run our lives. . . . Welcome to MA, resistance is futile, you will be assimilated. . .
From the

I don’t know about you but this is a bit scary to me as a parent. No one, including a principal should have this kind of unchecked authority. Sure, let them do what they need to run the school, especially in an emergency (Which this clearly was not) but the idea that anything they do is beyond review by the school board is a bit much. The Mass schools are far from perfect and to not have them under some kind of oversight by the town is ridiculous. Even the President of the
The other sick part of this is that legally the kid broke the law. In the
Another Mass Moment
Add this to the only in MA list. . . we are going to track down the illegal Immigrants and when found what will we do? Give them free health insurance. Great, nice way to spend my tax money. . . . and they are doing this when the state is short of funds, loosing population, jobs and going down the shi#er too.
From MetroWest Daily News:
The Department of Public Health is introducing a pilot program to subsidize health insurance for illegal immigrants, Commissioner John Auerbach announced yesterday during a MetroWest-focused meeting.
Starting this summer, the department plans to enroll 50 uninsured people from a group of patients currently relying on the state's Safety Net Pool to cover their medical costs, Auerbach said. Given the recent health insurance mandate tracked through income tax returns, Auerbach said that group is now largely made up of illegal immigrants.
To recruit the 50 test cases, Auerbach's department will send letters to some of the most frequent users of the Safety Net Pool. The department will then subsidize insurance coverage from private providers, tracking the volunteers to see if their health improves and if an expanded program could save the state money. (edit - added due to email to explain things better)
And to top it off they are finding these folks by income tax. So the folks are working illegally, not paying taxes, have broken the law a few different ways and we will reward them will free health insurance that the rest of us get to pay for. This state is sick and getting sicker. And they wonder why anyone that can is leaving this hell hole. This state is going to crash eventually with the way it is run, it should be a spectacular failure worthy of the liberal BS that got it there. I just hope it holds off long enough for me to be able to move out first. . . .
On a different note, I understand the current budget we are trying to pass is already a billion in the red so this will just add to it. . . .Wednesday, May 28, 2008
A Sign
Another Only in MASS Moment. . .
I swear I am not making this up – Folks are getting bent out of shape in
Medical Director Dr. Brian Orr and chief nurse practitioner Kim Daly support confidentially giving contraceptives to students. They were outraged about resistance from
Can someone tell me who gives them the right to medicate a child without the OK of the parent? What is next, ADD meds for kids they feel are out of control? What would you say if I told you school policy in
This is where the liberals are going in this country. They think they know our kids better than we do and they should raise them not the parents. When will we wake up and push these nut cases back to the fringe where they belong and stop letting them set policy (or even try to set it)? All I can say is if I ever heard of them giving my kids meds without my OK the town better be ready to spend lots of $$ on the lawyers since that is what will hurt them. God I wish I could move out of the state. . . . .
Jack's big adventure
Jack is again proving that girls are easier to raise than boys, at least at this age. . . than and the fact that he is too smart for my own good.
We have a rather nice stair way up to the second floor that we don’t want him playing on for obvious reasons so we have a gate/fence in front of it blocking off the steps. Well I was informed that Jack has now figured out how to move the gate aside so that he can squeeze through and go up stairs. My wife found this out when she heard him playing in the upstairs hall. . . when she went up to see if it was him or one of the cats he made a break for it to go hid in my oldest daughters room. Quickly realizing that he could not crawl fast enough to avoid getting caught he went to plan B – Turn around, look at mom and give her the best “cute” look he could come up with. Hard to get mad at that big smiling face that screams "Play with me I'm cute!"
For a kid that is just a year old, he is learning too fast for me, he already walks a bit, obviously plans out what he is doing, and even has a plan B for when he gets caught. Thank God he has not figured out sound travels yet or we would really be in trouble. . . Once he comes up with the concept of stealth I think my wife and I will quickly loose the few nerves we have left worrying about him. . .

From the Gunslinger
Thank the Liberals for Gas Prices
Who Is Really Responsible For The High Prices You Pay For Gasoline?By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Monday, May 12, 2008 4:20 PM PT
For the last 28 years, Democrats in Congress and a few Republicans have again and again opposed our drilling for oil in Alaska's ANWR area when we knew it contained at least 10 billion barrels of oil we could be using now.
* For the past 31 years, Congress repeatedly prevented us from building any new oil refineries that we now badly need.
* More recently, congressional Democrats defeated and discouraged any bill that would let us drill in the deep sea 100 miles out. However, it's somehow OK for China to drill there.
* As a further indictment of our Congress, since the 1980s it has continually stopped all building of nuclear power plants while France, Germany and, yes, Japan, plus 12 other major nations, did build plants and now get 20% to 80% of their energy from their wise and safe nuclear plant investments.
* From 1990 to 2000, U.S. crude oil demand rapidly accelerated by 7.41 quadrillion BTUs, according to Department of Energy data. And our rate of foreign oil dependency dramatically increased while our domestic oil production steadily declined.
Under the eight Clinton years alone, U.S. oil production declined 1,349,000 barrels per day, or 19%, while our foreign imports increased 3,574,000 barrels per day, or 45%.
During this time, President Clinton vetoed ANWR drilling bills that would have clearly made Alaska our No. 1 state in the production of our own vitally needed oil supply, not only for all Americans but also for national defense emergencies.
So were Democrats and members of Congress together merely short-sighted, with only a few having any real business experience?
Or were they just ignorant about economics - the fact that the law of supply and demand determines the price of all commodities such as oil, steel, copper and lumber?
Or were they simply and utterly irresponsible and incompetent in their actions that led us to become dangerously dependent on increasing oil imports from foreign countries?
We think it was "all of the above."
The unintended consequence of the Congress members' poor judgment and meddling micromanagement of U.S. energy policy is that they actually hurt most the very people they always profess to be able to help - the average American consumer, lower-income workers and those in the inner city who can't afford an extra $100 a month to drive to and from their jobs.
Democrats kowtowed to the wishes of their environmental supporters over the basic needs of 300 million American citizens.
It is a national disgrace that all they now know how to do is relentlessly criticize, complain and condemn. They always attempt to blame, investigate and scapegoat someone else, in this case U.S. oil companies, when Congress is the true villain of ineptness for constantly blocking and obstructing every effort for us to become more productive and less dependent on foreign oil.
Do those now in Congress really think Middle America's voters are so gullible that they will believe that its latest best and brightest answer to increasing our supply of oil and gas is to slap a 25% windfall penalty tax on oil companies and remove all other incentives for oil companies to drill and explore for oil?
The right time to release oil from, or stop adding to, our Strategic Petroleum Reserve is not now. That will do nothing to increase our ongoing oil supply needs and will have limited affect on oil prices while increasing our national security risks.
Only after we first announce to the world a bold new change in our policy by proclaiming that we intend to begin drilling in ANWR and selected outer sea areas, plus adopt new conservation programs, will the release of oil from our reserves have a major impact on breaking the price of oil.
If our congressional leadership can't muster the courage to begin reversing past mistakes now and allow our companies to drill in ANWR and off-limits offshore areas, and build essential refineries and safe nuclear power plants, what will an even-more-discredited Congress do in 2009, 2010 and 2011, when millions of new city dwellers in China and India will be driving the cars their countries are now producing, thereby materially increasing their already huge demand for oil and gas?
It's wake-up time for America. Maybe we should investigate the blame-throwing investigators in Congress.
Take away the guns and folks will use. . .
The slaying of Mr. Knox, who portrayed Harry Potter’s schoolmate Marcus Belby in the popular wizard movies, was the year’s 28th fatal stabbing in Britain and the 14th in London, which has seen more than 100 stabbings in the first five months of the year. Almost all these crimes were committed by young men in their teens or 20s.
In the decade since 1997, during which the numbers for almost all other violent and non-violent crimes have fallen dramatically, the number of British teenagers convicted of knife-related crimes has nearly tripled, from 482 to 1,256 in 2006. Surveys suggest that about 20 per cent of London teenagers carry a knife, despite increasingly tough laws.
Now there is a surprise. . . Take away all the guns and folks just find a new weapon that they can get their hands on. . . . . Don't know about you but I have been saying this for years, too bad someone felt the need to prove it.
Obama Re-Writes History
...Obama also spoke about his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz...
Sorry, the Russians liberated that one. . . maybe his uncle was a Russian? could be with his liberal views. . . .
They say those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. God help us all if he gets in because it will not only be him repeating the failures of history, he will take the US and possibly the world on the trip with him. . .
Back to Work
I’m BACK. . .
First day back at the office and I came in to find a clean desk. . . totally clean of all my stuff except a few photos I had. In place of my phone, monitor etc were photos of the items. . .
It took a few moments for it to sink in what was wrong with the cube but then it hit. I went to find my guys in QC to see where my stuff was and got to spend a few moments putting my cube back together.
All I can say is I know who did it and one of them already has his vacation planned so I can start working on payback = )
Other than that I have almost caught up on my backlog from being out paperwork wise and it is back to normal.
I did get the shed down. It took all week instead of the few days I expected but it is down. I have a few before, during and after photos to post tonight. What a week it was, I think I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. On the plus side I did get some range time in yesterday in the good weather so things did end on a high note. Now if I can just get the house put back together. . . I pull a bunch of stuff out of the shed, lots went into the dumpster but a bunch of stuff needs new homes too.

Moonlight RIP
Well it looks like another good show bites the dust. Nice of them to kill another show that required a bit of thought. I have had it with the TV networks. I will be doing my best to avoid getting into any new shows next year. As they kill off the ones I am watching I will get more and more free time to do something useful with myself or to watch the good shows they are now putting on the cable channels. Way to go guys! And you wonder why you are loosing viewers. . . .
To be honest it scares me to see how much they are dumbing down our entertainment. It seems that each season the shows that make it are getting what I call dumber and dumber and by that I mean they require little thought on the viewer’s part. It seems the days of shows that make you think are slowly coming to an end as the masses just don’t want to think any more, they want to be spoon fed everything. This is horrid for our country but I guess it is good for the government as the sheep will be easy to control. . .
Well Mr. Network TV guy if you are looking for me in the future check the cable channels or the book store. . . not that I think you will miss me. . .
Jack is One
The cake went over well, and he was good and suggard up for the evening so he got to stay up a bit later than normal to run it off and boy did he ever. All around the living room lap after lap to see everyone and talk to them. May have worked better if we understood him but he gets points for the effort.
Can't believe it has been a year already. . . Time goes by fast and boy has he gotten big over that year. Third kid and it still amazes me.

Jack Is One!
Now I have at least one kid on my side. . . . to the two daughters on the wifes side but hey, you take what you get. At one year he has just gotten his seventh tooth and he is starting to feel good walking around. See the walking video a few spots down the blog. . . . He loves to go out side and play in the good weather when we have it, and seems to think the swing set is heaven on earth.
Going to have a quick party for him tonight with the family. I am sure he won't understand it a bit but will love the cake so all will be well.
The only down side is I wish my dad was around to see the grandson he always wanted. . . . I am sure he is watching. . . .

Mass Health Care
You want a preview of what national health care would do to this country take a look what it is doing to Mass:
From the
Critics say the $400 million in higher-than-expected health care costs on top of the $400 million the plan already draws from the rainy day fund and other, smaller cost increases could force the state to draw as much as $1 billion from the rainy day fund.
Knapik also said he was concerned with the spiraling cost of the health care law, saying it's siphoning money away from other pressing needs.
He said the Senate should consider restricting parts of the law, designed to mandate health care to virtually all
“We ought to have that debate," he said. "We've got to put the entire discussion of the scope of the law on the table."
Isn’t that great? They forced everyone to buy health care and they are spending money the state does not have to run it. More Tax and Spend from the liberals running this state. The best thing the government can do is to get the hell out of the health care business. The next best thing they can do is get most of the lawyers out of it. . . .
tomorrow will be one year

Muslim student threatens teacher
The student claims the dog is unclean based on his religion so he wants it gone. DEAL WITH IT YOU SI&*T This is America, you don't like it go home. You came here, we didn't make you so learn to live like us.
Crap like this is a big problem and we need to stop it NOW. Immigration is fine and a great thing as long as they want to become AMERICAN and not try to make us Somali. I know a number of immigrants, some family and some friends and we are a better country because they are here - but they are or are working on being AMERICAN.
It is immigrants with this attatude that they will change US that is the problem. All I can say to this guy is GO HOME TO SOMALIA if you don' t like it here. And after they stir up trouble it will be blamed on us for being intolerant of them. . . Just who is being intolerant here anyway??
From the paper:
A Muslim high school student's intolerance for a service dog needed by a student teacher with a disability has reportedly prompted the student teacher to abandon the last 10 hours of his scheduled assignment at
He's a student at
Hurd, however, reported a student threatened to kill his dog. He said the threat came from a Somali student who is Muslim.
Hurd earlier spent some time student teaching at
But at Tech, Hurd reported, students taunted his dog, and he left when he was told a student threatened the animal.

Obama's 57th State
From the Net
And they want him to be PoUS???
A few days ago we reported that Barack Obama was ever so proud to have visited all "57 states" on his campaign swing. But, we noticed that he still avoids wearing that
Dump the Mass Income Tax
Looks like they are going to try again to get rid of the Mass Income tax. I would love to see it pass. Hell, I would love to just see it make it to the ballot in the fall, it will drive the liberals absolutely barking mad.
More money in my pocket means more money in the economy of the state which can only be a good thing. Too bad we don’t live in a free state and even if it passes the state house will just kill it or put a new one in place and all we will have done is showed that we are PO’d and our masters don’t care a bit about it. Our state is bloated now on what it spends, and this may be the wake up call they need to start looking at cutting back on the budget.
I am sorry but this state funds way too many programs that it has no business being involved in. Fix my roads, push our interests at the national and international level, attract new business to the state. For just about everything else they do, pull the plug and let us pay for it at the town level where we have a say in how much we pay and what we pay for. Give me schools, Police, Fire, and local roads, for the rest, get out of my wallet. It is way past time for this state to start cutting back on everything it buys just like us poor sods living here have had to do so we can pay for our homes and taxes. Times are tough, why shouldn’t the state feel the pain too and have to cut back.
I know it won’t but it is a nice dream. Some day it may happen. . . . .
Iron Man
OK, quick review of Iron Man – GO SEE IT!
It is a great action hero movie. As good as Spider Man if not better, but then I am a geek and like the tech side of the character. And Gwyneth Paltrow as a strawberry blond does not hurt either.
The movie was nice and fast paced even with the build up needed to explain the character. The main character is well done and plays quite the sleaze ball at the start and it works for him. There is actually has a bit of depth to the character, well done on Rober Downey Jr. – he made a great character and I hope he stays with it.
The suit was cool and I loved all the neat stuff built into it. It was also nice to see that they set up for a sequel already, since it has done so well I am sure they will be one.
GO, See the movie, you will love it. A great two hour escape!

Criminal Minds – More Women and TV
OK, must be the week for weak women on TV and guys with no guts. I usually like Criminal Minds but last night just pissed me off. It was a stalker case, and the woman was living with her fiancée. I was OK for most of it but two things really pissed me off.
First was one of the cops tells her “you have done all you can” then goes on to say how they will catch this guy. Well she and the hubby to be had not. First of all they were not packing heat of any kind, gun or otherwise. You have a stalker and you don’t get a weapon of some kind to defend yourself????
Second is the fiancée also was not doing anything to protect this woman. Maybe I am just an old fashioned gun nut but if my wife was dealing with a stalker you would not catch her away from me and I would have a pistol on me outside of the house and a rifle within reach inside the house. How can you just sit there and be a target letting the cops keep you safe??? But that is what the show wants to you do – you are helpless with out the cops, typical Hollywood BS. OF course she gets kidnapped by the bad guy and save by the cops but the whole time she was captured all I could see were the numerous places where she could have fought back, either with a gun or bare hands if she only knew how to take care of herself.
This is a sickening lesson to try to teach our kids. It scares me to think how many people go along with this image that they are not responsible for their own safety, it is up to someone else (the government) to keep them safe. My how far we have fallen. . .
Courthouse Shooting
From CNN:
The gunfight unfolded as court staffers and a handful of others were in the lobby of the courthouse, which has about 70 employees.
Pinellas County Clerk of Court Ken Burke said one of his office windows was shattered by a bullet. None of the clerk's staff was hurt.
The courthouse was closed after the shooting and is expected to resume normal business Thursday.
Court officials credited the bailiffs with averting a tragedy.
I guess it does pay to have a person with a gun in the area when a nut gets loose. . . Too bad we still don't want to accept that fact. But once again here is the proof. Gunman goes nuts, lawful gun in the area stops the rampage with only one person hurt, no one but the gunman dead. Big difference from when someone gets loose at a school. . .

Darwin
Third Place
After stepping around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door, a man walked into H&J Leather & Firearms intent on robbing the store. The shop was full of customers and a uniformed officer was standing at the counter. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up! and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, and several customers also drew their guns and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt.
Women on TV - NCIS
What is it about the main stream media that they can’t seem to handle a strong female character that can take care of herself? While watching NCIS last night I was horrified by what they did to Ziva. This is a character that killed her own half brother when he tried to kill Gibbs, (he was a terrorist). She also has been in a knife fight in another episode where I am not sure if she killed the attacker.
So why all of a sudden after she shoots a known killer while under cover would she suddenly crack and be all choked up about it? She is supposed to be a trained assassin. She has killed other folks on the show, and lost folks close to her without this issue.
My wife thinks it was to make her more human, but I don’t buy it. She has been acting fine all along. She shows feeling for her friends, and seems to be interested in Tony on the show but neither character admits they like each other. I think they are turning her into a wuss. I would much rather my kids see the strong character that takes care of herself and her friends instead of this thing that falls apart and needs to lean on a guy to get through it. They could have handled it so much better than making her start to look like the typical
I hope they go back to the old Ziva in the next show. She was one of the great parts of the show and I hate to see them mess it up. Note to
More "Common Sense" Laws
VANCOUVER, July 5 /CNW/ - Canada's homicide rate and number of gang-related murders has increased since the federal government's firearms registry and licensing program was implemented, an indication that the program has failed to improve public safety, according to Hubris in the North, The Canadian Firearms Registry, a new report from independent research organization The Fraser Institute.
[...]
Despite its estimated $2 billion cost to date, the firearms registry remains notably incomplete and has an error rate that remains embarrassingly high. As a result of its many failures, particularly its failure to reduce gang violence or stop senseless killings such as the recent occurrences at Dawson College and Mayerthorpe, Alberta, the firearms registry has not been able to win the trust of either the public or the police.
Massive investment in CCTV cameras to prevent crime in the UK has failed to have a significant impact, despite billions of pounds spent on the new technology, a senior police officer piloting a new database has warned. Only 3% of street robberies in London were solved using CCTV images, despite the fact that Britain has more security cameras than any other country in Europe.
And this is what the Dems want to do here to stop crime. . . read raise our taxes for no return on the money. . . . possibly a loss on it in fact. . .

I Love Calf.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Authorities have arrested nearly 100 people and seized guns and drugs in a sting operation at San Diego State University in California, the Drug Enforcement Administration said Tuesday.
Among those arrested were 75 students, some of them working toward criminal justice or homeland security degrees. One criminal justice major was charged with possession of guns and cocaine, authorities said.
Useless Gun Laws
LONDON (AFP) - Police sealed off an area of west London on Tuesday after armed officers were called to reports of gunshots and were fired at, Scotland Yard said.
Sky News television reported that a siege situation was underway, and a police spokeswoman confirmed that no arrests were immediately made after the incident off King's Road in west London.
Ya, sounds like disarming everyone is working out fine. . . .Crossing Guards

Can someone tell me why this town is paying her to do this? The kids can not push the walk button like everyone else and wait for the walk sign? Cars don’t stop for the red light?
I have never seen anyone run this light at other times of the day, why would they do it in the morning? Just because kids are there they are going to run the light????
More government waste . . . glad I don’t live in this town, it would bug me to think my taxes are paying for this
Voting today
With any luck the party will self destruct over this and rebuild itself into something that actually does represent the people then it can win the next time around because the Republicans sure as hell don't listen to the voters either. I think whichever side gets back to listening to mainstream America will start to win elections by landslides but that would mean they have to give up their extreme views on either side and stop messing with our rights. . .
Someday it may happen. . . .

Moonlight
Is Moonlight a goner?
This weeks episode ended with the comment that there are only two shows left. . . Do they mean for the season or forever? Has anyone heard if it got renewed for next year? This is a great show that has some nice twists in it. I hope it has not become the latest victim of dumbing down the TV. I swear with each show they kill I get more free time because the replacements are not worth my time. I figure in a few years I won’t really need a TV for much other than a few cable channels.

Fear of Acting?
Is there such a thing as a acting phobia? While doing some more research on the Masons to see if I made the right choice not joining I came across one of their web sites that talks about how they teach with plays and for each degree you earn on your way to becoming a Master Mason you do a play. That about finished things for me right there – I hate acting in any way shape or form. I don’t even like to do the role playing we use to do in Karate class for self defense scenarios.
I find this weird as I don’t have a problem getting up in front of the class to do a kata for Karate, or teach something. I also have no problems at work getting up to teach or run a meeting. Meet customers and run a training class – no problems. . . . .
But for as long as I can remember I never wanted to act. I avoided it in Boy Scouts around the campfire, I avoided it at school. . . . weird. . . maybe it is something to do with not interacting with the audience like you do when teaching or having a meeting. . . I don’t know but the shrink side of me finds it interesting . . .

Michelle Obama just don't know when to shut up. . . .
Michel Obama wants us to forget about Reverend Wright. Seems she is upset we are all taking about this racist piece of SH*( and wants us to stop. I don’t suppose that has anything to do with the fact that it is politically killing him. . . .
Now if the good Reverend was hurting him I don’t think she is the one I would put out front to fix it. She has made her own racist remarks and done damage of her own. Putting her out there to fix this is not much better than giving a drowning man a glass of water. . . . I just hope she does not finish him off before he gets the nomination – He will be much easier to beat than Hillary in November.
Deep Thoughts
It has been an interesting few days for me as I try to work through whether or not I want to try to join the Masons with a friend of mine. He is really hot on this and we went to a few open houses to meet them and see what they had to say. He is going to do it but I think after much debate with myself that it is not for me. I just don’t know enough about them and I am not a trusting soul by nature. This has bugged me a lot as it sounds like a great bunch of guys and all but I just don’t think I have the time to invest in it and with my uncertainty about them my gut says I have better things to do with my time.
As it is now I don’t seem to be able to get enough time in the day to even work on my models which I love to do. Add to that the family and kids that I want to be around and my time on the Martial arts from Karate to shooting and I just can’t bring myself to do it.
I am not sure if this is one of those things that I am going to look back on and regret since my grandfather was a Mason, but he never said anything about it to me and he died when I was 13 so I didn’t really know to ask him either.
I don’t know, I guess I am just rather conflicted about it as I have a lot on my mind at the moment and this has been a hard one to pick a side on. On the good side now that I have made a choice on this I have started to see where I need to go on a few other issues that have been bugging me so I guess that is a good thing. Now to get on to the next issue, finding a job nearer to home where I can actually do some good. Anyone know of a company that needs a good Quality/New Product Introduction Engineer please let me know. . . I like where I am at but the raises this year after we grew by 22% showed me that there is no future here especially with everything else in the world costing more money and my raise barely covered the increase in gas spending just to get to work. . . On the good side I do like the folks I work with so I am in no rush, I have time to find something good, but I need to get started. Now if I could just get a few of the things around the house done on my to do list I would actually feel like I was making some progress. . . .
Immigration Day
To celebrate I think we should all do two things -
1 - Thank an immigrant that came here legally for helping to grow our country
2 - drop a dime on an illegal and help run them out of here. . .
Folks immigration is what has made this country great, but we need to get rid of the illegals for many reasons but the biggest is if the boarders are that open that an uneducated illegal can get in, imagin how easy it is for someone planning to hurt us like Al Qaida wants to. . .
