WOW, Mad Max Time?

From Say Uncle and View from the Porch:

(Mayor Michal ) Brown said that as more people abandon homes, eating away at the city’s tax base and creating more blight, the city might need to examine “shutting down quadrants of the city where we (wouldn’t) provide services.”

This is Flint Michigan, not some third world country or Iraq. . . Who ever thought we would see the day in America? This is what happens when the socialists and the welfare state run wild . . . Socialism does not work and never will. Taking from the haves by force to give to the have not's does not work. It only drives the Haves to leave the area or stop working since they gain nothing from it.

I guess we will have our next Mad Max movie set all ready in Flint where we are going to tell folks - Sorry, you live in the wrong neighborhood so we will no longer even try to provide police, or fire protection to you. Good luck out there. . .

Am I the only one that thinks this will hurt Flint more than help them? Ya, you are going to attract new people and investors to Flint by turning chunks of it into no mans land where there is no law. . . you know those areas are going to fill up with crime, thugs, and drug dealers.

Good luck out there Flint, you will need it.

Run a Google search for some of the pictographies of all of the decay and degradation in downtown Detroit. Entire sections of that city have been abandoned to the elements, and damned if Mother Nature is not taking them back.

This Mad-Maxian situation is certainly not new in America, but at least now it is receiving the publicity it deserves. Some city residents would as soon turn their metropolis into a rotting wasteland than do something about policing themselves and keeping their society running. Kind of goes to show, I suppose...

Which Socialists are running wild in Flint? GM, a capitalist corporation, ran out of Flint – then the decay began. What welfare state are you talking about? There have been stringent work-first requirements in place for over 10 years in this country – and they are modeled after what the former Governor of Michigan, John Engler, first enacted here. Why the myth that those receiving assistance are somehow gaming the system is still perpetuated says more about motivations of the lie spreaders than about the fictional evil welfare queens it feels the need to lambaste. Personally, I think the stereotype continues because it is politically advantageous to paint poor people as the cause of their own poverty. A strawman figure all the way. They are made out to be lazy, depraved, stupid, etc. Nothing fact based about wage stagnation, access to higher education, outsourcing, the systematic weakening of unions, the cost of healthcare. Flint is a poster child for global hyper libertarianism – leaving in its wake much greater need and many more minds open to alternatives.

Unions should be weakened. When I worked in the field I could tell a union plant from non as soon as I walked in. Union plants were dirty, messy, and the folks did as little as they could and anyone that did more was in trouble. Non union plants were clean, well lit, the people were busy and the product was a higher quality. I didn't read it I saw it. In a Packard Electric plant I saw the union guy sleeping behind some crates instead of working. was told they could not fire him - he is union.

As for socialist, Obama just all but took over GM, we are screwed and the socialist movement to take over private companies goes on.

Welfare don't work, it keeps folks down but now we have more of it than ever thanks to Obama rolling back the Clinton changes to it.

Sorry Public, but the Dems are wreaking this place one town at a time.
