Well it has been a hard few days to commute around here. . .
Friday some poor bugger got hit with a 250 lbs drain cover while driving on rt 128 near rt 95. they say a truck picked it up. . . anyway it went through his front windshield and got him a nice helicopters ride to a hospital in Boston where his is still sitting four days later. No news on him but I guess they think he will pull through. This sht down rt 128 for something like 8 hours or so. It took me almost 4 hours to get from the Braintree split to rt 95 south, at which point I bailed out and went home. . . figured I could work better from there.
So Monday I head into work and I get up to rt 128 and my car alternator goes out. . . . I managed to get off the highway before it died totally but this makes day two of unsuccessful commute for me. I did manage to make it in by noon after ordering a replacement part. Thank God for warranties as I had replaced the alternator back in FEB!
And now my company is looking to go even further north as they consolidate divisions into one location. . . this is getting to be fun. . . . .
On the home front Jack is doing well and getting bigger. He must be up to 12 lbs by now. I will get more photos posted soon.
Nana's apartment is moving along. they started to get windows put in yesterday and I have a driveway full of sand, bags of cement and bricks for them to do the first floor walls with. All in all the addition has gone very well so far, I hope my luck holds on this. . .

suprise
OK, found another quiz on a blog I read. . . . .No real surprises here if you know me. . .
You are an Anti-government Gunslinger, also known as a libertarian conservative. You believe in smaller government, states’ rights, gun rights, and that, as Reagan once said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”

Bricks?
Well, I just got an email from T and we now have bricks to go with the pile of sand in the driveway!! I guess we will soon see a mason to start putting in the bricks on the first floor of the addition. When that gets started I will post more pics of the construction. I put some photos up yesterday showing the inside of Nana's apartment.. . . they have the studs for the walls in place. . .

Jack's moving forward. . . . and other stuff
Well, it has been three nights in a row now that Jack has slept though the night . . . . . Let me just say YA HOOO!! and I hope he keeps it up. We are finally starting to catch up on sleep, now I need to get some stuff done like sending out the thank you cards to folks that sent Jack stuff. . . People probably think we forgot or that Mom didn't raise us well by now but I will get the cards out.
Been busy around the old homestead with the construction and all too. Nana has walls up in here apartment now and she is very happy at how it is turning out. Now I have to start to clean up my area of the house where all my models and books are so they can pop a hole in the wall. . . . I have company coming over tonight to help start to move the shelving I will need to relocate. Going to have to get it all done so they can join the old and new house in the next few weeks. Need to get the windows and doors into the addition first.
I have some new pictures of Jack and the house that I have to get posted. . . should have that done in the next few days. I also started to go looking for all my old photos on film from way back when and I am starting to scan some of them into the computer too to keep them safe. Let me just say that the high school years are a bit scary. . . I may pass on some of those photos to folks in emails just scare them - boy did they get old. . . I of course look fine ; )
Been reading a bunch of blogs and I have come to the conclusion that I have to branch out here. Not sure what to write about but I think we may need to go past just the family stuff so people will come by and read my rantings. . . . . . we will see what I can come up with.

weekend update
Well, it was a busy weekend here! Spent most of Saturday and Sunday working on de-packrating myself. . . this was weekend two of cleaning out the greenhouse and throwing away all the junk we had been building up. On the plus side we did find a large number of baby things that just need a good washing so that was good. We had Nana over to help and Grandma and Papa came over for a bit too so Jack was psyched to get all the attention !!!
Jack is growing quick. He is up to 10+ pounds now at his two month checkup - all is well. the Doc knew my dad for years (I only met him once or twice) and was surprised at the size of Jack and his build. . . My wife had a good laugh and told him that he takes after me and I don't have my dad's build. . . . . God knows I am in trouble if the kid follows my footsteps. . . should be fun trying to keep him out of trouble as he gets older = )

Moving Forward
Well, if nothing else then the new addition for Nana is getting me to start to de-packrat my house. If you know me then you know this is a good thing!! We started to clean out one of the sheds this weekend and came up with bags and bags of junk and we are only about a third of the way through it. I have been finding lots of baby stuff that we are going to need, and just as much junk that got tossed in the shed and forgotten since it was out of sight.
I am looking to get the junk level down, then fix up the shed so we have room for us and Nana to put in our yard care stuff. I need to do some repair to it but since it is already up I don't have to deal with building permits to fix an existing structure. . . . . .
they are doing more work on the addition but all on the roof at this point so I have not taken any more photos to add to the web page. You can't see what they are doing yet so I figured why bother. . . I will post more as things go on.
On the fun side, saw the latests Harry Potter movie over the weekend with the oldest. We had a great time and it was a good flick, kept to the book rather well for a movie all things considered. . . Now I can't wait for the last book and my lovely wife has already ordered it and claimed first shot to read it. Since I have to sleep at some point I guess I can wait = ) I did make her promise not to say anything till I finish it though.

Update
Hey
Been a few days since I put anything up so I figure it is time for an update. Been real busy at home so I have fallen behind on a number of things like posting to here, the web page and getting the thank you cards sent out that I owe a few folks. Sorry for the delay.
We have a roof on Nana's apartment, well at least the plywood anyway. I am going to put a page together on the Dalco web page showing the house progress. It has been going very well. We have a great contractor this time around and he keeps things moving forward.
Jack is doing well and will be two moths old on the 15th. . . . boy does time fly by! He does not look like a new born again as he is starting to pack on some weight. He can hold up his head now and is enjoying all the attention he is getting. I am trying to get a good photo of his big toothless smile but not much luck so far. I have to see how the photos we took last night came out and I will try to get some posted in the next day or so.
well, more later, gotta run

Happy 4th
Well Jack got through his first 4th of July without a hitch. We started the morning at the Hingham parade which as usual was a great time. The girls got balloons and candy from the floats and Jack did OK with the musket fire and the sirens off the fire trucks.
We had a great spot to watch it all and things went well except for the old antique fire truck that broke down near us. . I felt bad for them, it pissed on the road then started to steam so they stopped and pushed it into a driveway so the rest of the parade could get by. I doubt it was any more than a bad hose but you still had to feel for the guys running it.
We then went down to wish my dad a happy birthday. Been gone for over a year now and it still gets to me every time I go down there.
We finished the day at a friends house for a cook out and fireworks that the kids loved. again Jack did good with all the noise. We all had a great time and it was nice to just hang out for a bit and do nothing for a change.
well, two days to the weekend!. . . .

First Floor
Hey
We have been making progress on Nana's apartment. . . The first floor is framed in and she is thrilled to death that it is moving forward. I posted some pics of the first floor on the web page. We will be bricking in the first floor and then doing the top with a kind of barnboard so it matches the rest of the house. . .
