Guns in Massachusetts

Here is the start of my latest letter to our friends on Beacon Hill. . .

They are having meetings all over the state during the work day to discuss a mass of new gun laws, most of which should never be allowed to see the light of day in a free country. . . anyway I need to polish it a bit and get my list together to send it in.  As a working person I have been unable to get to these meetings but I will be heard. . . If you live in MA please write or call your reps to stop this madness.

I am writing you because as a working person I could not attend your hearings.  With a family to support in this poor economy I could not get the time off.  But let me assure you I am watching what is going on with our rights, and I vote in every election.

New gun laws must be based on FACT and our Constitution, not feelings.  The only laws passed based on emotion are bad laws.

New gun laws will not change things or make us safer.  There will be no effect on gun violence, or gangs who commit most of it.  Criminals will not be affected by the laws any more than they are by our drug laws.  They still get drugs to sell, they will still get guns, all we do is up the violence involved.

New gun laws will only impact those who are not the problem, lawful gun owners.  One gun a month, insurance, storage laws will not slow down the criminals.  What would you say if you needed insurance to vote or publish an editorial in the paper?  Then how can it be legal for our other Constitutional rights such as gun ownership?

Forced sale of magazines over 10 rounds?  Do you really think criminals will follow this?
Limit of 7 rounds in a gun?  Why?  There are no facts that show any mag limits have made ANY difference in crime.  All it will do is put the law abiding citizen at a disadvantage against the criminals.
Insurance for gun owners?  Again what criminal will buy this?  This is a tax on a right nothing more
One gun a month?  Again where are the facts showing a criminal will be even slowed down by this?
All you are doing is hurting law abiding citizens again
More background checks. . .  when the criminals are buying the guns out of car trunks illegally to start with why would this make any difference ?  All this does is cost more money when law abiding folks want to sell a gun or give a gun to a family member?

Let’s look at some of the facts of gun control:

At least two towns in MA have tried to pass new gun laws at the town level and failed. . . the townsfolk’s don’t want them.  IN OUR STATE

Almost all (all but one) mass shooting since 1950 were in gun free zones. . . do you think the criminal who is going to kill people cares about gun laws?

The shootings in Newtown and at Columbine high school both happened where there are “assault” weapon bans in place. . . they did not work.  Heck more people are killed every year in fist fights and by hammers than by “assault” weapons.  The most people killed in a school attack was in the early 1900’s by a bomb attack, not guns.  The most folks killed in a mass murder attack was by arson in NYC in the 1990’s

Gun control has failed to pass on a national level due to lack of support.   We don’t need it.  Please do the right thing morally and legally and let this go.  If you want to make a difference then fix the laws we have.  Massachusetts has a mass of confusing gun laws now not to mention a permit system that is unfair.  We need to make is simplified and respect the rights of law abiding citizens.  We also need to enforce the laws we have and make new laws to deter criminals from using guns or at a minim keeping them off our streets if they do get convicted of a violent crime.

States and areas that recognize our rights and have “loose” gun control laws have less violent crime than areas that have strict control or prohibit guns.  Guns are only a tool, it is the person that is the problem.

Gun sales, ownership and number of new gun owners has been taking off for months now.  People do not support gun control and vote with their money and by getting permits.  Permits in MA are so far behind it takes over 3 months to get your permit after approval.  Law says you should have it in 40 days.

Gun training classes are full all over the state.  My club is trying to get more folks trained and certified to teach to keep up with class demand.

Gun clubs are gaining new members every day here.  My club had nine new members last month alone, and two were women. . .

Stand Your Ground Laws

Folks the Stand Your Ground laws that are getting so much news today are NOTHING like what the media wants you to think they are. . .

Lets look at the dis-information shall we?

1 - Zimmerman proves stand your ground laws are bad. . . Folks the FLA stand your ground law was NEVER part of this case. . . or his defense from DAY ONE!  it was a self defense case.

2 - Stand Your Ground laws are a licence to kill. .. . . no.  Every shooting is investigated by the cops/state and can go to trial if it is not justified.  Stand Your Ground is no different.  If the investigation shows there was no threat at a level justifying deadly force response you still go to jail, even under SYG. . .

Now look at what Stand Your Ground does.

It is simple.  It says if you have the right to be there you do not have to run away from an attack.  Without these laws you must retreat, even if unsafe to do so. . . the burden is put on you the defender to show you could not retreat.  In other words the Thugs get to rule the streets because you have to give in to them and leave if they threaten or attack you.

With Stand Your Ground you have the right to say NO to the Thugs, and defend yourself appropriately based on their actions.  The streets belong to the law abiding citizen under SYG, not the thugs.

Some even prevent the Thugs family from suing you for defending yourself.

Imagine  that for a moment will you?  You are attacked, you are forced to defend yourself or family and then the attacker or his family sue you for all you are worth because you defended yourself.  You were doing nothing wrong, minding your own business when the Thug attacks, yet you have to pay him/her or the family because of the attack. . . . yes, it can go that way.  Watch what they try to do to Zimmerman even though the jury found him not guilty. . . . it is disgusting.  We need these laws to protect the law abiding folks from criminals both on the street and in the court room.

Something to think about

Autism at Disney World

We just got back from a great trip to Disney World with my two teen age daughters and our six year old Autistic son.

I have got to tell you Disney is a great place to take an Autistic child.  They are absolutely great with dealing with the issues that come up.

A few days into our trip we did a character breakfast at Ohana where my son could meet Micky and friends including Lilo and Stitch.  If you have never been to one this is an all you can eat buffet breakfast where the characters come around the tables to meet the kids and get photos with them.

Well as you can imagine my son was not really up to interaction with the characters as he was still getting use to Disney.  Things still went great (other than the first group photo he would not get in. . .).  When the first character (Lilo) came by Jack would not really interact with her.  He was a bit scared I think. . . . anyway my wife whispered to Lilo that he has Autism and she nodded.  She took her time to get him to be at ease, eventually getting him to high five her and fist bump. . . . it was AMAZING!  Disney gets some really special folks to be the characters is all I can say.  I literally brought a tear to my eye to see how she got him to open up and play a bit with her. . . . And every other character (Stitch, Micky, Minnie) were just as good with him!  It really got him to open up and play with the characters and have a great time.

We did one other breakfast and a character dinner and they were all great with working with Jack.

The parks are great too!  The first day we got there we went to guest services and told them we had an Autistic six year old in the party.  His safe place is his stroller which a bunch of places don't permit in lines.  So they gave us a tag so it was treated as a wheelchair and we could take it anywhere we needed!  They also gave us a pass so that if the lines were long and he had a problem we could talk to a cast member and either go through the fast pass line or wait our turn out of line with Jack where he felt safe then when the rest of our party got to the ride we could join them.  Disney goes way out of the way to help kids with special needs and I can't thank them enough.

By the end of the trip Jack was getting photos all over and interacting with the characters at all the photo spots.  He was even going for the fist bumps and high fives with them!  When it was time to go home he told me Micky would miss him and he was going to miss Mickey.  We assured him we would be back again to visit his friend Mickey.

This is why we go back to Disney year after year. . .  it really is the Happiest Place on Earth and they are so good with Jack.

So if you have a child with Autism I can not recommend Disney enough.  Don't worry, go, have fun, and let them help your child have fun too!  They are great!

Bloomberg Bus Tour

You can read about it HERE

The basic game is the gun grabbers/anti gun folks know they are only a very small percent of the people in this country.

They want you to think they are 90% not the 1% they are. . .

How do you do this??? have a bus tour that no one knows about.  Email your supporters at the last minute to show up with your friends in the news media and hope the other side can't get together fast enough.

This way they can pretend they have all the support and the pro gun folks don't have a chance to counter the protests. . . which is what they want because when the pro side shows up they vastly outnumber the anti gun folks and they know it.

It is all a game folks, don't let them fool you.  This is just another lie from the Anti Gun folks to make them look important. . .

The Dream Act

The vote today is simple. . .

They want to reward criminals and let them stay in our country.

Oh sure, they will show you old folks, kids and anything else they can to play on your emotions so you will ignore the facts. . .

FACT - They BROKE IN to our country
FACT - They stayed here and got welfare and other assistance they were nor eligible for.  They stole tax payer money
FACT - they took up resources our own people need - jobs, health care, schooling - that we pay for with our taxes and used a system already stressed by our own folks.
FACT - by coming here illegally they broke our laws from day 1 and show they do not respect our country or our laws

This is a game to get more folks to vote for the Dems and nothing more.  If they know who these illegals are why are they not deporting them?  Why are they not upholding the law as the swore to do when taking office????

Why should they get preferential treatment over those immigrants that came here legally and followed our laws to do it, sometimes waiting YEARS to get here?  What do you tell those legal immigrants?  That they were fools for respecting our laws and doing it by the book???  No, deport the illegals and uphold our laws.

DEPORT THEM

Shooting in California at College

OK, let’s see if we have all the bases covered for the latest shooting:

Gun Free Zone?  YES
State that won’t let folks protect themselves?  YES
State with massive gun control already on the books?  YES
Bad guy gets gun anyway?  YES
Students defenseless?  YES

See folks, gun control does not work, and does not make you safe.  The mad men love it because it gives them a place to go where they know no law abiding folks can fight back. . .  great plan if you are the bad guy.

So far only one down based on the news.  If this turns into a drug deal gone bad, gangs or a lovers attack I bet it will be out of the news by Sunday. . .

More news as it breaks. . .

June 6th. . .

The day that changed it all. . . twice. . . .

Remember folks this was D-Day in 1944, and the start of the Battle of Midway in 1942. . . . both pivotal in our winning WWII

Thank you Vets for all you have done for our country.

Why are we not watching Impeachment proceedings?

This is nuts . . .  lets look at it:

  • Benghazi. .  4 dead Americans including the Ambassador. . . Probably a gun running operation to our enemies.
  • IRS used to attack political opposition during election
  • Selling arms, aircraft and tanks to Muslim Brotherhood
  • IRS getting thousands of medical records
  • Gun running into Mexico
  • Voter Fraud
  • Illegally putting US troop into Libya
  • and on and on . . . .
Yet no one has the guts to do what is right and impeach him.

WHY?

He needs to go and fast folks.  He is ruining this country the way they claimed Bush was. . . but he is real and he IS doing it.  Time for the folks in DC to get some balls and actually follow the oath they took and protect us from this domestic enemy of our Constitution. . .

New Jersey Gunman

You can see the story HERE

Folks this should be listed as more proof gun control does not work.

NJ has some of the harshest gun laws around, you need a permit for a BB gun last I checked there.

Yet we still have a madman getting a gun and taking kids hostage.  He has been holding them for over 12 hours now. . . .

This is a fail folks.

Time to end gun control and start to look for a real way to identify people at risk for this kind of breakdown and how to treat them before they snap.  None of the new laws proposed in DC would do a damn thing to stop this and they all know it and admit it.

For the average citizen gun control is about safety, for the government it is all about control of us, and not our safety.  The citizens and the government are not on the same page.

For civilians safety starts with education about guns, and expansion of gun rights.  Citizen gun control means having one and known when and how to use it. . .  .

Open Letter to MA State House

Dear State House

I wanted to drop a note as I have not heard any more out of the State House on the current batch of gun control bills that were started this year.

As the events in Boston have shown we have evil in our state that wants to do us harm.  I was embarrassed and scared for the people I saw on TV being pulled from their homes by the Police as they searched for the bomber.  The thought that our state has disarmed them and left them and their children at the mercy of a terrorist was to be blunt sickening to me.  And they are still questioning people, we don’t know if they acted alone or not. ..  sure looks like they had help. . .

Events have shown that this is not the time to be disarming the people of this state in order to fix imagined weaknesses in our gun laws.  How anyone can vote for gun control after this is beyond me.   The Boston terrorists showed our laws don’t stop criminals, only law abiding citizens.  They got guns, ammo, and bombs all without any kind of license. . . yet you want to punish me for following all laws and restrict my rights?  That makes no one any safer. . . and puts my family at risk.

Instead we need to straighten up our gun laws, make them easier to understand, and stop attacking the rights of law abiding gun owners.  The idea that I need to store my rifle at a gun club (only one in the state is licensed by the way) or should have to pay insurance to exercise my right is outrageous.  We need to get rid of the magazine limits, not lower them.  All those cops had standard magazines in their guns, what would one lone civilian be able do to with a low capacity magazine if the terrorist broke into his home and attacked his or her family?

I now a number of people that are now working towards or have applied for their gun permits.  The wait for them is now around 120 days after you pass inspection by your local police (state law says you should have your permit in 40 days) but you don’t hear about this on the news. . . why is the state delaying permits against our own laws?  You can't find guns or ammo on store shelves to purchase. . . people obviously don't want more gun control forced on them.

A good test of any gun law would be to compare it to voting. . . would you accept a law that makes you buy insurance to vote?  Or have everyone in the state go to one polling place?

Or you could look at it against our right to Free Speech. . . would you find a law that limited you to one email a month to be legal?  How about limiting the number of words you can use in the email?

Please, in the name of public safety, for the safety of my wife and kids please vote NO on any new gun control bills that may come up to a vote.

Thank you
