Breda had a link up to a great article on how people view safety training differenlty whether it is for safe sex or safe gun handling. . .

Makes a lot of sense.

Christmas Shopping

I don't know what it is but Christmas drives me nuts.  I love the other holidays we have here in the good ol USA, but Christmas gets to me.

It's not the religion part of it, I don't follow that.

I do enjoy the family part of it, I think that is what it is all about, peace, love and family.

I was almost in the Christmas spirit this year. . . . SOOO close I could taste it.  I even caught myself whistling Christmas songs a few times. . . .

Then I hit the mall - ALL OVER!

I am lucky.  My family does not really NEED anything.  We have a nice home and our health.  To go out and try to buy presents is a PAIN IN THE ASS!  I am glad I was only buying for my wife.  How she does all the shopping for the rest of the family is beyond me.  We don't have a ton of money, things are tight like everywhere so this just makes it worse.  I can't buy anything big (like I want to . . .), and I don't want to buy junk or dust collectors just to say I got her something.

Nothing like the commercial side of this holiday to bring out all the worst . . .

Well, I got her a few things, I hope she likes them. . . .

And I will again wish Christmas was more like Thanksgiving. . .  no real money to spend other than dinner and a day to spend with the family and friends which is all that is important anyway right?

Bush vs Obama

What does it mean when the latest poll says 50% of folks don't like Obama and his policy's this early in his administration?

Is it even worse for Obama when 44% answered the poll questions that yes, they wish they had Bush II back in the White House?

Seems to me Obama and the Dems are in trouble. . . . Can we keep them there until 2010? Without them destroying the USA???

CO2 Power Grab

Gotta love this one from Day by Day

Obama is continuing his push to keep us in a recession so we won't mess up the big government power grab. This CO2 crap is a bunch of bull and another move by the administration to get around the laws and Constitution of the USA to get more power!

Any wonder he has the lowest approval ratings of any POSTUS at this point in their administration? I just hope we have something left to save when the Dems get the boot in 2010

Independent for Senator in MA

Well it looks like we have a Three Way Race in MA!!

Joe Kennedy (no relation to TED) has gotten on the ballot as an Independent!  Not that you would know based on the news around here.  Of course you barely hear about the Republican running, why would they tell us about an independent.

Go check him out.  I think you will like what you hear.

Very Emotional Day

I spent today at the dedication of a building in my Dad's name. My Dad was a doctor who helped to set up the Impaired Physicians program in Maine. He was the medical director of the program for something like 13 years.

Today they dedicated a building in his name and my mother and I along with the family were invited there for the event. It was a very emotional day. I had more than one person come up to me to tell me how he saved them from addicting. I was told by a few how he saved their life. How do you respond to that? I thanked them for the stories and it was very emotional.

I got to listen to a few more stories of how he helped so many and his work on the program at the lunch they had. I then gave my own speech about Dad and it went OK - they laughed at my two jokes and sounded like they meant it and I got a standing ovation at the end.

Mom and I had a great day all around and it is still sinking in. All I can say is WOW. I knew he had done a lot and help a bunch of folks, but it is totally different when they come up to you and tell you all about it. . . .
