Massachusetts In the News

Hey, I hear on the radio MA has hit #1. . .

MA #1 in debt per capita

Tied for #3 as worst government

One of the most accommodating to illegal immigrants

Ain’t that just great? And you too can have all this. . . . just put Obama in office. He is the same as our Governor, heck he may as well be a clone if you listen to his campaign speeches. . . .

You know you want it – Political Hacks hiring family on the .gov payroll, cost overruns (can you say BIG DIG) without oversight, Socialists running things, Health care system that you can’t afford, Higher Taxes. . .

As far back as 1998, MA has been in the top three of per capita debt. Since Patrick was elected in 2006, I would go out on a limb and say it is not his fault if MA is tops in per capita debt. Alaska, MA, and NY are the top three in this category and have been for a number of years.

So far as worst government is concerned, I would like to see the source because I cannot find it anywhere. There was a document by Pew giving MA a score of a C in government performance. Poor infrastructure was the biggest problem for MA in that study. However, the C score was not the worst.

That is probably the source, we got a C, not the worst, but down at #3. . .

As for Patrick's spending, he has been stopped by his own party in the legislature. He has tried to do more then even they will let him. Add to that the fact that he is counting on and already spent income from the Casinos he wants. . . They have not been built or even ok'd by the legislature and he is spending the money he thinks they will bring in. . . . This guy is a disaster .. .

No, MA is not down at #3. Down at #3 means there is a list somewhere, and there is not.

Here is the report.

C: Alaska, Arkansas, California, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Jersey all had C scores

C-: Rhode Island had a C-

D+: New Hampshire had a D+.

So you can pretend that Massachusetts C+ was lower than the C+ of all those other states, but I am not sure there is any reason to believe that.

This looks at only four things money, people, infrastructure, and information. Education and health care availability do not show up in this study at all. You would think I would want to live in a place where I could go to a doctor if I needed one or have my kids educated if I had any, but this study is not concerned with those issues at all.

I was going with the #3 based on info on the Talk Show I was listing to. . . . even based on your list I would still rather live where they give a B or a A. . . Mass is the great illusion. Liberals think this is a great place but in reality they are killing it. Our emergency rooms are over crowed, taxes through the roofs and the schools are not all they are cracked up to be, you need to watch them every minute. This state is not a good place to live if you don't drink the cool aid

So, ... do you want to move to Utah, Washington, or Virginia?

My state got a B-.

We shut off cable and have stopped listening to the radio in my home. It's easier that way. These media shows have gotten so out of touch with reality, it just isn't worth listening anymore. I get better information from the internet, which says more about how bad the mass media has become than the reliability of information on the internet.

I can state as a fact that I haven't seen so much trade volume in my five year career here in the MUNI markets than the past few weeks. At least oil went below $100 today.

It might be a good idea to keep your bank accounts below $100k per individual per bank ($250k IRA). I've already been through one FDIC transition in the past six months.

Once my mom and in-laws are gone I have every intention of looking at a move south of the Mason Dixon line. . . .Virgina would be nice. I like what I have seen of it so far. . .
