Wall E

Took the kids to see Wall E this weekend. Let me start by saying Pixar has done it again. Although it is a bit preachy at times it was a great movie. It was fun, it was a good story, and overall the family had a good time with it.
I found it fun to watch for the little bits they throw into the movie that were tributes to the classic Sci Fi of the past like 2001. . . . it was great. There was absolutely no dialog for something like the first 40 minutes of the movies but it was still great. The way they got the emotions and thoughts of the robot Wall E during this time was very well done and easy to follow.
All I can say is if you have kids, take them to see it. If you don’t go see it anyway, it is a fun movie.
Pixar also has the normal short to start the film that they have done before. This was also very cute, and a fun short. It is too bad some of the other kids movies don’t do this.

Reactions - I don't get it. . . .

One reaction I ran across on the net when reading about yesterdays ruling on the Second Amendment –

"I just don't believe in guns. I don't like guns, period. And I don't think really anybody should be allowed to have guns," he said.

Sorry folks, but that is not how it works. It is a right. It is not and it should not be subject to whether your neighbor or the guy down the road agrees with it or not. Why don’t folks see this?
They have been trained by the liberals to not think on this issue. Let’s make a bit of a change and thing about what this guy said.

What would be the reaction of the average person if he said this - "I just don't believe in whites marrying blacks. I don't like whites marrying blacks, period. And I don't think really anybody should be allowed to have whites marrying blacks," he said.

Folks would go nuts and rightly so.

Or maybe this - "I just don't believe in free speech. I don't like free speech, period. And I don't think really anybody should be allowed to say anything they want to," he said.
Or maybe this - "I just don't believe in letting Irish folks live there. I don't like Irish folks, period. And I don't think really just anybody should be allowed to live anywhere they want to," he said.

Again folks would go nuts. . .

Why do we see how stupid these arguments are when dealing with race or free speech or a number of other issues but if it is guns all of a sudden folks don’t want to think, they want to FEEL and react to that. This is why it is in the Constitution so that it is protected and it is there for all to see so that someone can’t take it away because of what they FEEL.

This is a free country and if we want to stay that way we need to recognize that we can not take away someone’s rights to a gun, to where they can live, to who they can talk to or marry just because someone else FEELS that they don’t like you doing it. You don't have to like it, but you can't force them to your will either. They want us to accept this idea when it comes to gay marriage but not with guns? Sorry, all or nothing on this folks, if it works for you then it works for me too. . . . we are all equal remember (or at least that is what they tell me. . . .)

As long as you do your own thing and do not interfere with other folks doing their own thing in our pursuit of happiness then the government needs to get out of it and stay out. If you are not bothering anyone and someone tries to force their views or will on you that is why the Constitution spells out and recognizes (does not grant!) our basic rights in the Bill of Rights, and the second most important is the Second Amendment and our rights to defend ourselves.

More Good News

I hope the MA lawsuits start soon. . .

Here is the start of the reactions to Heller

Still Happy over Heller. . .

Had to post this one from another blog. . . love the photo and the thought. . . . .

The Greek phrase Molōn labe! (Μολὼν λαβέ; approximate Classical Greek pronunciation [moˈloːn laˈbe], Modern Greek [moˈlon laˈve]), meaning "Effort [το] take [them]!", is a classical expression of defiance reported by Plutarch, roughly corresponding to the modern equivalent English phrase "over my dead body". It is an exemplary use of the Laconic phrase.

Barack Obama – Just another politician

Obama is playing games with our rights again. . . The same guy that has said he wanted to ban all handguns when a state senator now claims he believes the Second Amendment is an individual right. He also backs the failed DC Gun Ban that was just struck down.

So what we get is “yes you have the right under the Constitution but the government has the ability to take them away anyway”. Sorry folks but not the right answer when talking about any of our rights for the POTUS. This guy needs to be stopped – Vote McCain.

It is only a short trip from ignoring our Second Amendment right to ignoring the First Amendment or any of the other Constitutionally recognized God Given rights we now have and or are fighting to have recognized.

The Battle is Joined

And here is the first shot now that SCOTUS has seen the light (or at least 5 of them did) and protected our rights.

BELLEVUE, WA – Following Thursday’s (5-4) ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment protects an individual civil right to keep and bear arms, and that a municipal gun ban violates that right, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) filed a federal lawsuit (complaint) challenging the City of Chicago’s long-standing handgun ban.

“Chicago’s handgun ban has failed to stop violent crime,” SAF founder Alan Gottlieb stated. “It’s time to give the Constitution a chance.”

You can read more here

Good news to start the day. . .

He said this a while back, after yesterdays ruling I hope he is having a total breakdown. . . These folks want to destroy the Bill of Rights one amendment at a time. Well, we won the first battle, here is to winning the rest. . . .

Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence said recently:

“We’ve lost the battle on what the Second Amendment means. Seventy-five percent of the public thinks it’s an individual right. Why are we arguing a theory anymore? We are concerned about what we can do practically.”

One of the dissenting judges coments:

Justice John Paul Stevens wrote that the majority “would have us believe that over 200 years ago, the Framers made a choice to limit the tools available to elected officials wishing to regulate civilian uses of weapons.”

I don’t get it. . . I thought that they studied this stuff. . . try reading the Federalist Papers and see the fear the people and states had of a strong Federal government and you can see that that is exactly what they meant. They feared the power of the elected officials and wanted to insure the people kept the upper hand.

I do agree that this is a good break on the court, 5/4 means that we won’t get too sure of ourselves in this victory and will keep fighting . . . .

Something to think about

With the nomination of Supreme Court Judges probably the most important part of being POTUS and the fact that if the Dems had been in power instead of Bush we probably would have lost the Second Amendment of the Constitution - PART OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS today think of this.

The Liberals on the court are:

Breyer - 69 years old
Ginsburg - 75 years old
Souter - 68 years old
Stevens - 88 years old

The next president will get to replace one or more of them. If you want someone that reads and understand the Constitution then you want McCain to pick the next judge. At least we would have a chance of a good pick. If you want a judge that will make it up as he goes and not care about what the Founding Fathers were trying to do then go for Obama and get a commie on the court. . .

5-4 it was close

We won Heller but with a very thin 5-4 vote. . . it makes me happy I voted for Bush. . . If we had a Dem instead for either of his terms we would have a different Supreme Court today and we probalby would have lost. . . . SCOTUS is one of the biggest things to think of when voting. . . Who gets to pick the next judge there has more impact than many thing the POTUS does.

Another reason to hold my nose and vote McCane in November. . . we don't need any more liberal judges on SCOTUS. This should have been a 9-0 win for us, not 5-4. . . .

Enought for now, I will go be happy that our rights won this time and think about how this will just be a stepping stone to getting all our rights back. . .

Heller – WE THE PEOPLE WIN

While the Heller case is a win for us on the Pro Bill of Rights side I think it was just enough of a win. Anti-Gun folks have been loosing all over this country. We have been successful in getting carry laws all over with only two states now holding out against CCW laws. This is a huge win for our side. Had we won by a landslide I think it would have been worse for us. As it stands now we win but we know it was close, we must keep fighting for our rights and we will do so. I think if we had won by a landslide many would have thought the fight over and would have relaxed letting the anti’s get back in the game and beat us.

Now for the fun part – they stuck down trigger locks!!! I want to see how this will effect those of us stuck in MASS. I can’t wait to hear what lawsuits this will spawn here where they charge too much for a license, they are too random on who can get one, and they are too restrictive on just about everything about guns. This should be a signal to kick things up a notch and take back our rights! Look at NH where there is only one license for Carry Concealed Weapons – to just own a gun (hand gun or rifle) and ammo and use it at home or the range all you need to be is over 18. Now that is how it should be. Simple background check to make sure you are not a criminal or otherwise restricted from gun ownership and then you buy your gun.

I am glad to hear that the NRA has started lawsuits based on this ruling all over the place, especially in CA and Chicago I think. This is what we need to push. If we can make it so costly for the gun grabbers to pass these laws and defend them (and loose) in court over it then it will start to hurt. The more it hurts the more money it costs the voters to defend these illegal laws the more likely these folks will get voted out. Vote them out so they won’t pass these expensive un-Constitutional laws and we won’t have to pay to defend them in court. . . Vote them out to save not only the Second, but all of the Bill of Rights.

I love this guys photos, stop by and take a look:

Heller and SCOTUS

Looks like no ruling today. . . they say tomorrow is it as that is the last day of this term. . . .

Man I want to know. . . .

Liberals Suck. . . . MoveOn.org SUCKs More. . .

What the heck is with this new ad by MoveOn.org? Some mom saying McCain you can’t have my boy for your war???

It is not his war, Congress OK’s it – ONLY CONGRESS can declare war. . . .

He can not take your son, we have a volunteer military

IF needed it is all of our jobs to protect this country if called.

Please MoveOn.org, don't let the facts get in your way at this point. . . you folks pump out as much BS as any group putting out ads, possibly more.

Did I serve, no, but I had no problem signing up for the draft when I turned 18 and would have gone no question if called or needed. Yes, I was lucky and did not get called or see a war in person.

Do I want my Son or Daughters going to war? Hell NO, it would scare the hell out of me. What sane parent wants there kids to go to war. . . .Would I support them if they said I am joining the military to protect our county HELL YES!!! Would I be proud of them? HELL YES!! I would pray that they had the weapons needed to kill anything that threaten them and got them home safe. . . My child's life is worth more than any foreigners. I am all for the troops killing whoever they need to to make sure they come home from these wars safe. I don't care about a few dead Iraqi or Afghans. . . if we are there to do a job do it and stop trying to make war clean and neat. Hit them, do it and come home. If in doubt, shoot it (heck if it is worth shooting once, then do it at least twice to be sure) instead of risking them shooting you.

What makes MoveOn.org think that their kid is worth more than mine is when it comes to who serves in the military? It is shit like this that shows us the liberals are all talk and no action. . . they don’t have the guts to do what needs to be done to protect our way of life, they spit on our way of life, they seem to hate our country but they are fine with telling us how to do things and taking our money. They hate the military people that protect us and make our way of life possible. In short, they are scum. . . . .

Just another reason to vote against any liberal on the ballot in November. It is going to be a long election folks

Defending the undefendable

This guy makes me sick. .. and you wonder why lawyers have a bad name. He is already playing the blame game for his client and it is at the statehouse where we elected him to be. Problem is he don't represent us. . . he is representing them. . . Child Rapist. . . .

I hope they throw him out next election.

Here is what he said about us trying to pass a law with some teeth:

“Let me tell you why it’s so wrong, It’s so wrong because in these situations . . . that 6-year-old is going to sit in front of me, or somebody far worse than me and I’m going to rip them apart. I’m going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined. That when they’re 8 years old they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep. When they’re 19 years old they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody. And that’s not because I’m a nice guy. That’s because when you’re in court, and you’re defending somebody’s liberty, and you’re facing a mandatory sentence of those draconian proportions, you have to do every single thing you can do on behalf of your client. That is your obligation as a trial lawyer.”

Let me tell you what is wrong you A-hole. The fact that you would go away from the facts and crush a child to get your client off. If you have to resort to crushing a child to win - your client is guilty. If he is not, they let the facts get him off. . . . This sick bastard sounds like he is looking forward to it. Big tough guy can beat up a little kid. . . .

It is folks like you getting this scum off and back on the street to strike again that lead to the rest of us wanting mandatory sentences. If the system was not broken then we would not need them. Any folks wonder why the legal system in MA fails us. . . .

Learn Something Every Day

Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem (Latin "By the sword it seeks peace [but only] under liberty") is a state motto of Massachusetts in the United States, adopted in 1775. It has not been specifically adopted as the motto of the state but has been accepted as an element of the arms and seal of the Commonwealth.

Can you believe this stuff??? Never would have thought the ultimate Nanny state would have this motto. . . too bad it means nothing to those running the place today or I should say to them it means they will have peace through use of the sword to keep the peasants under control. . . .

I wonder if we will ever get back to a time and place where this motto means something. . .

Hanover Bonfire

We took the kids to the annual bonfire in Hanover this weekend. . . They do it for the 4th of July/ start the summer kind of thing and everyone turns out. I put some pics up since I can't do it justice with words, and the fire was smaller this year than last. I guess they are sick of having to wait all night for it to burn out then having to rebuild the baseball field they use. They also have to make sure they don't set the forest on fire too which has happened.

All and all it was a great time. When it gets going it is like daylight out there so I added a few crowd shots to show that too. . . . fun time in small town hicksvill. . . .

The fire is a collection of pallets that the town saves all year best I can tell. The pile is a good three stories tall, was taller last year. The post in the middle of the fire is a telephone pole best I can tell. You really can't get a feel for the size of this thing. . . You can feel the heat and folks have to back off as it gets going, you just can't get close to it. . . ..

Things to Think about. . .

Great Blog to read, here are some parts of it:

"The past shows unvaryingly that when a people's freedom disappears, it goes not with a bang, but in silence amid the comfort of being cared for. That is the dire peril in the present trend toward statism. If freedom is not found accompanied by a willingness to resist, and to reject favors, rather than to give up what is intangible but precarious, it will not long be found at all." - Richard Weaver, 1962

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) once considered one of congress's fringe leftists apparently let the Democrat party policy slip during show hearings with oil company executives earlier in the month:

"This liberal will be all about socializing, uh, uh . . . would be about . . . basically taking over and the government running all of your companies."

"Should the people of the United States own refineries? Maybe so. Frankly, I think that's a good idea. Then we could control the amount of refined product much more capably that gets out on the market..." Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) 18 June Press Conference with Democratic leadership.

Remember folks, when the Feds took over a brothel in UT (if memory serves) for failing to pay taxes they lost money running it. . . . Do you want someone who can’t make money with a legal brothel running your oil supply??? Realy???

Obama already won

I guess there is no reason for an election, Obama already has his new POTUS seal done and it nicely shows how he will throw out the constitution for his feel good way of doing things. . . . Don't bother him with our rights, he will tell us what to think and how to think, and we will be happy. . .

Remember if you vote or speak out against him you are racist. . . . . ignore the facts of what he wants to do. . . you will be assimilated. . . resistance is futile. . .

Glad he got rid of the pesky E pluribus unum. . . "From Many One" kinda sounds like all those illegals and such have to become American. . . we don't want to make them do that we will become them instead after all they were nice enough to come here. . . I like "Together We Can" better anyway. . . helps us to forget all that old white guy constitutional stuff. . . . I just wonder who the WE is . . . I am sure I am not part of it since I follow the old Constitutional way of thinking . . .

Oh, and did anyone mention that it may be illegal to have this seal since it is a take off of the official POTUS seal? Not that Lord Obama cares about our petty laws and such. . . .

And lets not forget if he can get us all distracted with the new shiny seal then we won't ask him about any real issues that he has no answers for. . . .

I can see the press conference now " no comment, no comment, no answer, hey folks look, shiny trinket, go fetch. . . no more questions thanks for coming. . .."

Elf

You scored 0% Size & Strength, 71% Morality, 65% Aggression, and 76% Intelligence.

You're an Elf! You scored low in size, high in morality, high in aggression and high in intelligence to get here. The first and favorite race created by the Valar, the Elves have been in Middle Earth for many ages, and are currently the only race allowed to join their creators in Valinor. Blessed with eternal life, enhanced senses, great beauty, wisdom and skill, the race of Elves still has several black marks on it. (Kinslaying, anyone?) But hey, no one is perfect, right? Of course not, but the Elves are damn close to it.

FYI, your polar opposite is the Troll.

More Obama sh*t

The latest excuse from Obama. . . How he can call himself a man never mind American is beyond me:

From Dragonwatch:

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag Pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the Flag with the right hand over the heart.

'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting In air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this could possibly be our next President!! I, for once, am speechless. He has Absolutely NO pride in this country!!!!! This is outrageous!!!! He Doesn't deserve to be dogcatcher!!!

I have been told this was a fake news story. . . kind of like what they write all the time now in the midia but I still am not sure. This is just the kind of thing this nut would do. . .

Parents anyone?

I think we have gone F'in nutters up here to put it nicely. . . .

From local TV news:
GLOUCESTER (WBZ) ― There's a stunning twist to the sudden rise in teen pregnancies at Gloucester High School. 17 students there are expecting and, according to a published report, most of them became that way on purpose.

Time Magazine is reporting that nearly half of the girls confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. None of the girls is older than 16.

And the fools in this state brag about our socialist wonderland. . . Ya, I wonder about it all right. We are so busy being liberals around here that we forgot about any kind of family values or caring for our kids. I get weird looks for not having my kids in 5 million different things all the time and actually like spending time with them at home. . . .

Sounds like more folks need to slow down and start to figure out that we work and play sports and such for fun but the important thing is being there for the kids you have. You had them, you know how you got them. . . . if you have kids it was by choice, now raise them right and give them the time and energy they need and stop sending them off to be baby sat so you can do what you want to. You gave up that right when you had kids get over it. . . . .

And the Flip Flopping starts

We have the first flip flop of the campaign and Obaba gets it (I am sure McCain will too, give him time)

From CNN –

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama has decided not to accept public financing for his campaign, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee told supporters Thursday.

In an e-mail message, Obama said his decision means that his campaign will forego over $80 million in public funds.

But he had promised to go with public money to run a clean campaign with McCain. . . Now we see if McCain follows him on this. . . More proof that these two are still more of the same in DC no matter what they tell you. Special interest will own them both, so pick the special interest group you want in the White House and vote accordingly,. . ..

Obama Caught Discriminating. . .

Discrimination is alive and well in the Obama camp, don’t let them fool you -

From CNN –

DETROIT, Michigan (AP) -- A young Muslim woman said she and another woman were refused seats directly behind Barack Obama -- and in front of TV cameras -- at a Detroit rally because they wear head scarves.

But Aref said the volunteers told members of both parties in separate discussions that women wearing hijabs, the traditional Muslim head scarves, weren't included in the invitation and couldn't sit behind the podium.

She was grateful that the group she was with at the rally, which included her brother, Sharif, as well as non-Muslim colleagues of his, declined the invitation to take seats behind Obama after she was refused.

Still, she said, it was difficult to hear a Obama's message of unity among races.

"As he's saying it, I'm thinking, 'Well, wait a minute, I was obviously ... profiled and discriminated against an hour ago."'

That loosely translates to " we want your vote, we just don't want you. . . .". Must make him feel good to be able to send someone else to the back of the bus. . . . I can feel the unity now. . .

Obama - be scared folks. . .

“Winnie the Pooh seems to me to be a fundamental text on national security.”

- Richard Danzig, possible future National Security Adviser in an Obama White House

Folks this comment alone should be enough to see that this guy and the folks he relies on should be no where near the White House or any other part of our government. . . .

UK Gun laws shown to not work. . . .

Looks like our friends in the UK have come up with a new definition of Insanity. . .

They know the gun laws don’t work so they push them harder. You can go here to see a few screen shots of the latest ad.

After all handguns have been BANNED for 11 years the end the NEW ad with this info:

“There were 9650 firearm offences in the UK last year”

“Getting a gun has become child’s play”

Maybe it is just me but it really sounds like things are not working and they refuse to see that or change path. . . nothing like rearranging the deck chares on the Titanic is there. . .

Fun with your Kids

Had a bit of fun last night driving the oldest daughter crazy. . . she was doing a school project and need to make a flamingo. Sooooo she asked what the color of the legs of a Chilean Flamingo was. . .

This began with “what color are flamingos to start with and if they can fly why would they stay someplace that was chilly. . . . now if you assume that they stay and get chilly then the legs would turn blue. . . of course if they are pink to start with then they probably start to look more purple than blue depending on the temperature. If you let them get too chilly then they become flamigcicles and all bets are off. . . but if they freeze you can still use them for lawn ornaments. . . . ”

At this point I was hit by a flying flip flop thrown by the same child I was trying to help. . . . I tell you I get no respect. . .

Yes, I did eventually push her to google it and get the right answer. . . . Of course the first thing I asked today was if she gave her chilly flamingos scarves to keep warm when she made them for her project . . . .

Lower Gas Price. . . .

McCain finally sees the light on helping with the oil problem. He will push to get offshore drilling started again. Only by increasing supply will we get the price down. . . want to know what the Dems said:

Florida Sen. Bill Nelson also criticized McCain's plan, saying it would ruin his state's tourism industry and would not solve the problem. "I thought John McCain was serious when he said he wanted to make America less dependent on oil. I didn't think he was a flip-flopper. He knows that more drilling isn't the solution to high gas prices," Nelson said Tuesday.

Obama says a windfall profits tax would ease the burden of energy costs on working families. He also wants to invest in affordable, renewable energy sources.

Yep, if we keep supply down and increase the tax on the oil companies somehow that will lower the cost. . . can someone explain this to me? Low supply in any other product means higher cost, just look at how much the Wii or Elmo sold for on Ebay when folks could not get them in stores. And what fool thinks that the oil folks will not pass on the cost of these taxes on to us at the pump? They are in this to make money not be nice so why would they eat the cost of this tax. . . .

Dems the facts folks, and Obama and his faithful can’t change them, but they cans cost you and me lots of money. . ..

Obama gives Hillary the finger

Obama has hired someone that Hillary fired and trashed to deal with running the affairs of the running mate to be picked later. That was quite the screw you to her. . . guess she won't be getting picked which is a great thing since I think the two of them on a dream ticket would have crushed McCain easy. . .

Now he has a chance. Thanks Obama. Now if we can just get more of the truth about him out there we may yet save the country and our economy from a communist leader

Knife fights

File this one under folks will find a way to kill each other. . . . .

ORLANDO, Florida (AP) -- Authorities say one person has been killed and five others injured in an attack outside an Orlando, Florida supermarket.

Orlando police spokeswoman Barbara Jones says one person was fatally stabbed Monday morning in a parking lot. Four others were taken to a hospital.

One is in critical condition and another is in surgery. The conditions for the others involved are not yet known.

Jones says one person was treated at the scene. All appeared to have some injury from cutting.

It's not yet clear what prompted the fight. No arrests have been made.

Nice Safe Calf. . .

From FOX news:

As they got closer, the couple saw the man brutally beating the toddler behind his truck and throwing the child on the ground, according to Singh. Two or three other cars stopped, an unusual number to be passing through the remote area surrounded by a dairy, a cow pasture, a cornfield and a farmhouse, he said.
"What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking," Singh said. "They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn't have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it."

Gald to see all the gun laws in CA are making it a safer place. . . Can you bet they would have been all over this if someone with a permit had stopped and taken action? Instead they had to wait for the cops and the kid is dead. A gun could have prevented this in the hands of one of those passers by. . . But we will never know. No ID on either of them and no missing kids reported which makes me think that they will probably find out this nut killed mom too. . . . With wack jobs like this running around folks ask why we need the right to carry?

The United Kingdom. . . Once Great but no more

Here is a great description of what formally Great Britain now just Britain:

You’re talking about a place where you can’t wear your hat in a bar anymore because it makes it harder to identify you on CCTV cameras. The UK has 0.2% of the world’s inhabitable land mass, and 20% of the world’s CCTV cameras. You can receive Anti-Social Behavior Orders, which are court orders telling an individual how he must behave. Chucking refuse into the wrong trash bin or overfilling your own is a felony offense. Of course England needs more government control.

And these fools want us to be more like them??? WTF? No thanks, not a chance.

Looks like one of the blogs I read every day got hit. . . no more Voice in the Night. . . .

So, Kvegas if you see this one I hope all is well down there and you didn't get in too much grief over the blog.

Hang in there!

It's funny how you feel like someone is a friend just because you read their blog. . . I never met them or talked to them but it is still a strange feeling to see the blog gone. . . like I just lost touch with a friend.

anyway since I don't have any email or such for ya KV, hope you see this and are doing OK. . .

Gitmo Detainees and the SCOTUS

I am not sure I really understand all the hype over the prisoners at Gitmo getting recognized as having rights is such a bad thing.

Hears why. We keep telling everyone the Bill of Rights does not grant us rights (such as to bear arms) but that it recognizes “God” given rights. Folks, we can’t have it both ways. If these rights we are so proud of having are not granted to us as citizens but give to us by God or Nature then everyone on this dirtball has them just by being born.

So, if we all have these rights, the government can’t take them since they do not grant them. . . so the folks at Gitmo have them too.

I don’t like it, I don’t think they are nice folks down there and I am sure they want to kill us but we can not have double standards. I also don’t like the Enemy Combatant slight of hand. If we are at war with them then they are prisoners of war, if not, then they are criminals for what they have done, either way we need to deal with them properly.

I also hear and agree that our soldiers do not fair treatment if they are taken prisoner. Although I hate the way our guys are treated we can not become them to deal with it. We can only work to bring them to justice for what they have done. Personally I feel if we become them and ignore our own laws then we have lost this fight already.

All of that being said I do have to admit that I think a lot of the bad press we have given ourselves for “torture” is pure BS. We need to be able to get info out of these folks to save lives. But come on folks, if they have been in jail for two years how much relevant info do you really think you can get out of them. . . . I think the intense interrogation or “torture” is only justified when they are first caught before those that send them know we have them and when the info we may gain is fresh and can do us some good. You start getting to six months, a year later and I don’t think they will know much we can really use.

Well that is my two cents on this mess, agree or not that is what I think.

Boston Globe BS

Gotta love this from the Boston Globe on the Entwistle murder trial:

Jurors soon will see graphic photos of the bodies, but first, Ritchie likely will give them their first glimpse of the suspected murder weapon: a long-barreled .22-caliber revolver owned by Rachel Entwistle’s stepfather, Joseph Matterazzo, 61, who, in a fatherly attempt to bond, taught Entwistle how to load and shoot the weapon.

Ritchie disclosed yesterday to Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Michael Fabbri that 10 partial fingerprints were lifted from all over the hand cannon, but they “lacked quantity and quality” to successfully compare against 25 sets of fingerprints from persons close to the case.

They are not to bias on this . . . a ‘hand cannon” they call the gun. . . ooooo evil gun. The thing is a .22. It is in no way shape or form a hand cannon. They try to get you to see a big gun like Dirty Harry would use but that is not what it is. It is a .22, a very small caliber gun that most folks would learn to shoot on. Not much kick, very small bullet and hardly worth the fear they are trying to invoke about it.

Any wonder the Boston Globe is loosing readers still? I got stopped in the grocery store a few months back by them wanting to give me $20 or $50 bucks in gift cards to the store if I signed up for their paper. . . I laughed and said no thanks, I want real news when I read a paper, not your liberal propaganda. . . I wasn’t alone, he didn’t seem to get any takers while we were there.

No More Subaru

No More Subaru - AND THERE WAS MUCH REJOICING!!!!!

Well last night we turned in the old Subaru for a new Pontiac G5. I have to say it was mixed emotions to part with it. It hurt a bit as it was Dad’s car and all but what hurt more was that it was paid for. Of course the fact that the car was paid for was the only reason I kept it since it was a Subaru and SUCKED as a car but for the most part it ran and was paid off.

Now it finally will cost more to fix than a new car so it is toast. I took it to a non Subaru mechanic I trust and was told that if I was thinking of a new car now would be a good time. . . The ox sensor was gone and the catalytic converter was gone (both have already been replaced once in the three years I have had the car. He also told me the catalytic converters in these car tend to fail ever few years due to the gas additives or something, so I can expect to keep replacing them every few years for big $$. Those two things were $900 to fix (don’t want to think about what the dealer would have wanted for it). Then you can add the water pump and timing belt were over due and could fail any time $1200 bucks in the next few months. Add to that breaks and tiers that are worn and I was looking at $2500 to $3K in the next six months assuming nothing else died on that piece of crap. Not to mention that I have already had to change the alternator twice, Spark plug wires, took an act of god to replace the air filter, and a number of other things (usually they wanted a grand to fix things every time it went in the shop for an oil change or sticker) and I don’t know what Dad fixed while he had it. . . .

So it is gone. Don’t ever buy a Subaru, they suck. My GM cars have all gone over 100K mile with none of these problems. My S-10 Blazer had 180K on it when I traded it in after 8 years on the road. My pick up has 110K miles on it now and the only repair other than tires on it has been break lines after 10 years on the road and a fuel pump and alternator at 9 year on the road. Now that is a good car.

Add to that the fact that I work for a Japanese company and know how they screw the workers so if I am spending that kind of money I want to spend it with a US firm. I want to keep the money here in the US. I don’t care if Toyota or whoever build the cars here, the money goes there to corporate so sorry folks, can’t do. . . .

I will post a photo tonight or in the next few days when I can, rather booked for the next day or so.

Thoughts on the G5 so far? Great car for what it is. It is a 4 cylinder econo box. Not a lot of pick up but the ride is smooth and she handles well. OnStar seems cool and I like the fact it can play MP3 CDs and I can also tie in my MP3 player to the stereo. It came with XM Satellite too but I can’t see paying for that when I can put in a cd or listen to local radio. I would have killed for XM years ago when I traveled a lot and lost radio stations but that is not an issue now. OnStar does a bunch of cool stuff beyond just unlocking doors or calling 911 for you. They also check the car monthly and send me a report by email on anything it needs like air in the tier or an oil change – now that is cool. . . I will post more in it as I drive it and believe me you will hear the good and bad if there is anything worth posting. . .

Summer PSA

Note to self, don't leave a full unopened can of coke in the car when the temp outside will be in the mid 90's. . . the can will be a weird and new shape when you get back in the car after work and will have a little hole in it where all the carbonation snuck out. . . .

ALL CAPS

What is it with folks and sending email in all caps? Is it just me or do these folks not get it? I don’t remember when I was told but now it seems like I always knew that you didn’t do that, caps are like yelling, and you don’t do that in polite conversation.

Have you ever had to deal with this? I have a few folks at work that send me requests to do thing in all caps, sometimes with a few !! too. I am not sure how to breach this with them that it is a bit rude and insulting. . . Any ideas on how to deal with them without seeming like an a-hole?

Springtime in New England

I love spring in New England. For the last few nights it has been seriously HOT, HUMID and to make it worse the raccoons are having at it in the back yard.

At least I am told that is what is making all that noise out there. There are two of them that start off on different ends of the woods in my yard and slowly work towards each other as they scream at each other. This would not be so bad if I didn’t need the windows open for the air but come on. . . I wonder, can I rent them a room for a night or two and then they can get it out of their system and I can get some sleep. . .

I tell ya, a few more nights of this and I will be looking at that paint ball gun again. . . I have been thinking of ways to tie it into my air compressor and maybe if I get some paint balls and freeze them good and solid I may be able to deter these two horny critters or at least get them to go someplace else. . .

Another Mass Moment

Our speaker of the house Sal DiMasi has a lovely comment today on our income tax. There is a push to put on the ballot this year a repeal of our income tax. By law if this ballot initiative passes it must be implemented by our government. What did Sal say? "I'm against doing it and I find myself hard-pressed to say that I would try to completely implement an elimination of the income tax," DiMasi told a Daily News editorial board yesterday.” In plain English he is saying “I don’t care what you vote for I will do what I want anyway”

Here is another the quote from Metro West Daily

House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi said he does not see the state carrying out a repeal of the income tax - even if voters approve the binding ballot measure in November.

A BINDING ballot and they will not do it!!! That is ILLEGAL!! I hope it passes, I hope they don't do it, and I hope we can get them all busted for their actions! I don't work for them, they work for me!!! Maybe this slap in the face may get enough folks to wake up and vote the dead wood out of office so we can get them out of the way and start to fix this state.

Another quote:
"I can't see myself doing that in the future, but I know people are hurting and I know people want to send a message maybe at some point in time that their taxes are too high."

Sal, I hate to tell you but my taxes are too high NOW, not some time in the future - wake up you idiot. . . .

When are we going to vote out these ass holes that think that we work for them. We have a number of good reps and senators that work for the people the problem is they are way out numbered by these fools that think they are better than us and it is their job to tell us how to live, what we can and can’t do, and ignore our votes. Someone please explain to them that they don’t let us vote to humor us, we vote to tell them what to do. They work for the PEOPLE, not the other way around and when we vote on something they do it. If we can’t get them to see that at the state level how will we ever get things fixed at the Fed level. . .

I hate this commie state. . . .

When It Rains. . .

Just found out the damn Subaru needs like $2k to get fixed to pass inspection again. So I can spend money I don't have on fixing it or getting a new car . . . Nice choices. Seems the Catalitic converter died again, only four years old but the garage tells me they have a short life due to the junk they put in the gas these days. . . Thanks Mr. Government for messing with my gas and car - Now I can't afford to fix or drive it. . . .

ARRRRGHGH

I need a new job near home

Gas Price

Can someone please explain to me how elimination of the tax breaks and the additional taxing of their profits will cut down the price I pay at the pump? Back when I was in business school we learned how to price our product so that it covered our cost and let us make money. . . if you raise the cost of business for the oil folks, they will pass on that increase to us.

Someone please slap the hippy that came up with this BS answer. THE ONLY WAY TO CUT THE PRICE IS INCREASE THE SUPPLY!!! Why don’t folks get that? If you want the price to drop we need to start drilling in Alaska and in the Gulf so that we have our own oil. We will also need to ok the building of new refineries so that we can turn this oil into gas and other useful stuff. At the same time we need to be working on a way to get away from oil and let the Middle East go back to being a bunch of tribes running around in the sand that no one cares about. . . Unfortunately the idiots we have running for office this year will not do this. . .

Obama’s Birth Certificate

What is it with this guy, he seems set to make bad press for himself. What is the big deal about the Birth Certificate that he won’t release it? Someone will get a copy at some point and it will get out. You would think that he would just give it out and deal with the issues instead of letting it build up pressure like it is now. The more he tries to hide it the worse it will look when it eventually comes out. . . On the plus side this guy is a danger to us all so if he is hell bent on self destruction I am all for it – if it keeps him from winning the election go for it Obama, keep hiding stuff for maximum damage when it does get out. . ..

Obama the new Messiah

Have any of you heard his “This is the day“ speech? He is going care for the sick, heal the planet, get jobs for the jobless, stop the oceans rising, end the war and many other things. . . it was not a political speech, he sounded like a religious revival speech. . . . These folks scare me like no other. They use to claim the conservatives were religious nuts but they should listen to themselves. These folks are not a political party any more, they are a cult and them some – I wonder who is paying for all the Cool Aid? And further down the slope we go. . . .

If you look over the speech it sounds good to start, go after Al-Qaida, get more money for the workers in the country ect. . . too bad his past actions show he will not do this. He has not and does not support the military, he wants to raise taxes which will raise the cost of everything we buy since companies will pass on this expense to us as part of doing business. . . then he ends the speech sounding like a cult leader – and like all the other politicians that he tells us he is not like he then goes on to promises things there is no way he can ever do. . . .

Here is the end of the transcript -

The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge — I face this challenge with profound humility and knowledge of my own limitations, but I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people.

Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that, generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless…

(APPLAUSE)

… this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal…

(APPLAUSE)

… this was the moment when we ended a war, and secured our nation, and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.

(APPLAUSE)

This was the moment, this was the time when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.

Thank you, Minnesota. God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.

Foreign Oil

News flash. . . I missed who said it on the news report but they are claiming we could be free of the need for foreign oil in 15 years if we push for it like we did to get a man on the moon in the 60’s. Wow, too bad I have been saying that for a number of years now. . . . If you can tell me how to get us to actually do it then I will be impressed.

B-2 Bomber

On a side note we lost a B-2 bomber on take off the other day. The crew is OK. The cause? Moisture they say got into the electronics. You would think for the price ($1.4 billion) they would have made the thing water tight. . . Guess a sensor was damp and some folks knew how to fix this but they had not told everyone that flys or work on the plane so this crew did not know about this issue or how to fix it.

Weekend Update

Well that was a long hot weekend . . . hit almost 90 both days. The bad part was I was dumb enough to be out in it working in the yard. On the good side I got some of the brush cleaned up and the pool has been put up for the summer. We got one of them smaller ones with a metal frame say 15’ and 3’ deep. Good enough to keep cool all summer. This year we have lots of stuff to do in the yard this year after letting it go last summer due to all the construction getting done. . .

Looks good on paper

Looks good on paper. . . Go give this a read, good for a laugh

History

It is said that those that don’t study history are doomed to repeat it. It seems liberals in our education system don’t get it.

This morning I asked my daughter if she knew what day it was (she is in 7th grade). She said no so I said it was the 64th anniversary of D-Day and she shocked me with the reply “What’s D-Day”. That hurt. . . I thought our schools were good, that is why we moved here.

As I was reading blogs this morning I think it was Marko that said we have almost lost all the folks that were there and it is going to be up to us to remember what they did and why. It look’s like we are failing on that. I don’t understand how the schools can avoid teaching about WWI and WWII when they are responsible for the world we live in. Those wars defined who would be super powers in the world, and where the boarders would be in many parts of the world especially the Middle East and it gets little mention in school. I can see I am going to have to take an even more active roll in the kids education . . . I am starting to wonder what do they teach in school that I don’t have to fix when she gets home?

And I worry what will happen when we get to repeat things because we failed to learn from them last time. . . .

Cool Stuff

Now THIS is just plain cool when it comes to underwater stuff. . .

Vote McCain

After the BS they are pulling in DC, this is all I need to know - Add in that Obama is unqualified for the job and a racist and that just pushes me further into the McCain camp. I don 't like him but I fear the alternative. . . .

From MArooned

GUN CONTROL

McCain: Voted against ban on assault-type weapons but in favor of requiring background checks at gun shows. Voted to shield gun-makers and dealers from civil suits. "I believe the Second Amendment ought to be preserved — which means no gun control."

Obama: Voted to leave gun-makers and dealers open to suit. Also, as Illinois state lawmaker, supported ban on all forms of semiautomatic weapons and tighter state restrictions generally on firearms.

Marines' youngest to get Medal of Honor dies at 80

From CNN

JACKSON, Mississippi (AP) -- Jack Lucas, who at 14 lied his way into military service during World War II and became the youngest Marine to receive the Medal of Honor, died Thursday in a Hattiesburg, Mississippi, hospital. He was 80.

art.lucasobit2.ap.jpg

Jack Lucas, seen here being acknowleged by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in March, had been battling cancer.

Lucas had been battling cancer. Ponda Lee at Moore Funeral Service said the funeral home was told he died before dawn.

Jacklyln "Jack" Lucas was just six days past his 17th birthday in February 1945 when his heroism at Iwo Jima earned him the nation's highest military honor. He used his body to shield three fellow squad members from two grenades, and was nearly killed when one exploded.

"A couple of grenades rolled into the trench," Lucas said in an Associated Press interview shortly before he received the medal from President Truman in October 1945. "I hollered to my pals to get out and did a Superman dive at the grenades. I wasn't a Superman after I got hit. I let out one helluva scream when that thing went off."

He was left with more than 250 pieces of shrapnel in his body and in every major organ and endured 26 surgeries in the months after Iwo Jima.

Rest in peace sir, you earned it!

You vill show us your papers!

For all you folks that said it could never happen here. . . Brought to you by the liberals in DC – Checkpoints and cops asking “Papers please”. . .. (how long till they forget the “please” part?)

Under an executive order expected to be announced today, police Chief Cathy L. Lanier will have the authority to designate “Neighborhood Safety Zones.” At least six officers will man cordons around those zones and demand identification from people coming in and out of them. Anyone who doesn’t live there, work there or have “legitimate reason” to be there will be sent away or face arrest, documents obtained by The Examiner show.

This use to be a free country where you did not need the states OK to travel. Guess this is the beginning of the end for that. . . This should scare the crap out of you - if it don’t then I really don’t know what to say other than please don’t vote. . . .

Lawdog has a great post on it here, go read.

And to think folks question whether the Second Amendment is still relevant today. . . .

This day in History

From the History Channel -

On this day in 1942, the Battle of Midway--one of the most decisive U.S. victories against Japan during World War II--begins. During the four-day sea-and-air battle, the outnumbered U.S. Pacific Fleet succeeded in destroying four Japanese aircraft carriers while losing only one of its own, the Yorktown, to the previously invincible Japanese navy.

This shows you what a strong America can do should we ever get back to that point. From being kicked in the teeth on Dec 7th to turning the war around in just about six months against the mighty Japanese . . . . Some day we will get rid of the liberal/hippy mindset and get back to being a great nation. . .

Is the AP Playing election Games?

I wish I had more faith in the press. . . but after the Dan Rather BS to name only one instance I don't have faith in them any more. . .

That being said I find it interesting that the AP announced today that Hillary will be doing a speech tonight saying that Obama has the votes to be the nominee. Was this an OOPS or an attempt to effect the two elections going on today(the press comes across pro Obama a lot)? Clinton folks says that no such statement was released by them. . . .

So, I am guessing that by the vague announcement that they got around any election laws dealing with telling the outcome before the poles closed, but they may have accomplished the same ends by doing it this way. . . . I am not for either of these liberals for POTUS but I think it is worth thinking about and maybe looking into. . . .

Gun Control

Guess gun control is working ok in the UK:

Knife violence in London is now running as high as gun warfare in some US cities, it is claimed today.

One of Britain's leading trauma surgeons has told how one in three of his trauma patients is now a stabbing victim.

It look s like they have chosen to die by knife instead. . . not sure I would call that a step in the right direction. Personally I would rather have the option to carry a gun - knife fights are messy and the advantage is to the stronger thug not the average citizen for many reasons (training, surprise, number of attackers, strength, willingness to get into hand to hand, size, skill needed to defend oneself from a knife . . . )

The Demo Project

Sorry for the delay, camera transfer issues. . .
Here is a shot of the "greenhouse" that my buddy and I pulled down on my week off. I took this after I pulled the glass out of the front of it so I would not be picking up broken glass in the yard for the rest of my life. . .

As you can see it was in bad shape, but not as bad as it looked. . . the frame and guts of it were still solid. I figured a few days to get the junk out, then two days to demo. . . Ya Right!
Took the weekend to sort and toss the crap I could that we collected over the past 10 years in this house plus what we brought with us. . .

this was day two of the demo. We got it pulled down for the most part on day one of demo (day 4 of vacation) then finally got it flat on day 5 of vacation. I took a chainsaw to the wall studs then we hooked it up to my truck and pulled it down. . . figured that was safer than walking around on the roof as we pulled it apart. Just missed the new shed with it when it fell (yay me)

And hear we are on day 7 of my week off, we are done. Took thee dumpsters to get rid of all the junk and parts but it is done. Now to get some driveway quotes and get the pit filled in. . . .

How not to spend your vacation. . . .
