D-Day/Midway

Folks - today is a day to remember D-Day and all those who gave all to get us a foothold in fortress Europe and start us on our way to the defeat of the Nazis.

What seems to be forgotten is it is also the time to remember those who fought and died on the other side of the world a few years earlier to help turn the tide with Japan. Over three days a small group of American pilots gave all to defeat the Japanese and start the long fight to Japan. Midway was a critical victory for us - not only for the military but the folks at home. . . we had gone against Japan and won a battle in a big way. . . . first time we had done that. . .

So lets take a moment and think about them all. Half a world and two years separated these two events but both were critical in our winning WWII.

Thank You vets for all you have given us. May we be truly worthy of your gift.

Vote McCain

After the BS they are pulling in DC, this is all I need to know - Add in that Obama is unqualified for the job and a racist and that just pushes me further into the McCain camp. I don 't like him but I fear the alternative. . . .

From MArooned

GUN CONTROL

McCain: Voted against ban on assault-type weapons but in favor of requiring background checks at gun shows. Voted to shield gun-makers and dealers from civil suits. "I believe the Second Amendment ought to be preserved — which means no gun control."

Obama: Voted to leave gun-makers and dealers open to suit. Also, as Illinois state lawmaker, supported ban on all forms of semiautomatic weapons and tighter state restrictions generally on firearms.

How it should be

In Tennessee we really do pull off the road and stop for funerals......nobody moves until the last car has gone by.

What follows is a message from Vicki Pierce about her nephew James' funeral (he was serving our country in Iraq ):

However, the most incredible thing was what happened following the service on the way to the cemetery. We went to our cars and drove to the cemetery escorted by at least 10 police cars with lights flashing and some other emergency vehicles, with Tennessee police handling traffic. Everyone on the road who was not in the procession, pulled over, got out of their cars, and stood silently and respectfully, some put their hands over their hearts.

When we turned off the highway suddenly there were teenage boys along both sides of the street about every 20 feet or so, all holding large American flags on long flag poles, and again with their hands on their hearts. We thought at first it was the Boy Scouts or 4H club or something, but it continued . for two and a half miles. Hundreds of young people, standing silently on the side of the road with flags. At one point we passed an elementary school, and all the children were outside, shoulder to shoulder holding flags kindergartners, handicapped, teachers, staff, everyone. Some held signs of love and support. Then came teenage girls and younger boys, all holding flags. Then adults. Then families. All standing silently on the side of the road. No one spoke, not even the very young children.
The military presence
, at least two generals, a fist full of colonels, and representatives from every branch of the service, plus the color guard who attended James, and some who served with him . was very impressive and respectful, but the love and pride from this community who had lost one of their own was the most amazing thing I've ever been privileged to witness.
[]I've attached some pictures, some are blurry (we were moving), but you can get a small idea of what this was like.

These photos are awesome !!

AAARRRRFGGGGGGGEEEEEE

ok, that was a mess. What the F happened to our offensive line? we got beat by a better team and that is all I can say about it. Looks like the Pats were already on the golf course as far as our offense goes. What the heck happened to protecting the QB??? The defense worked at least it was not a blow out, but you can't win on defense. . . . ..
I liked this better when I just watched for the commercials, but even those were not so hot this year. . . .

AAAARRRRRRRGGGGG

Oh My God. . .what the heck happed to the Pats offensive line. . . .. This is the start of the fourth and these guys are killing me

First half of the game

Life Water

Or something like that, first really good commercial of the game. . . .gotta love the idea of lizards dancing to Thiller. . .. Not to mention the grasshopper that gets it and the one with the black cloud fart. . . . that was funny.

Now Career builder had a good one too with the heart bursting out of the girls chest and going and quitting on her. . . Follow your heart it said, this was a good one too.

Ads have been good so far, hope they stay that way since the game is killing me. How the Pat can mess up like this is beyond me. I am looking for them to come back in the second half. . ..

Game Day

IT”S GAME DAY!!

This is the day that we in Patriot Nation have been waiting for. I think this will be a good game, and I was going to expect a close game – that is until they started talking about spygate again. Now I think the Pats are gong to have an axe to grind and something to prove so I expect they will be out for blood even more than normal. If you look back at when this first happened, the team they played after it broke they took apart and them some. I think the Pats will win, and it is not going to be close. Then now have not only the perfect season on the line, but something to prove.

And when all is said and done, if they do win, you can thank congress. It was some congressman who dug this all up again because he wants to know what happened. Why the NFL (a private business) is any of their concern with everything else going on is beyond me. Personally I think our congress has a number of things that rate more important on the things to do scale than dealing with this mess but who am I. He wanted some air time and he got it. Unfortunately for him (I think he backs the Giants) all of this will probably just push the Pats over the edge and on to that 19-0 they are looking for. . .

Super Bowl

WOW, we are playing the Giants for the Super Bowl. This should be a great game. My only fear is that they are on the upswing since the start of the play offs. . .. They are going to give the Pats a run for the money. The Pats are going to have to play better than they did yesterday to win this. I think they can do it, the big question is do they want it bad enough? The last meeting with the Giants was one hell of a game, so I am looking forward to this game for a change. It will be nice to have a Super Bowl that is not a blow out for a change. . . .

Pats do it!!

Well I missed the first half of the game and then some but I got home in time to see the end of the third quarter and the fourth. . . .what a game! It was a bit of a close thing but the Pats are not to be denied!

Now it is off to the big game, against Green Bay I would guess but we will see what the night brings. . . . . . I would love to see a perfect season, 19 and 0. Miami can take that and stuff it!

Pats go 9-0

WHAT A GAME!!

OK, a show of hands, how many of you thought the Colts had us again in the 4th? I have to admit having lost my faith in the Pats there for a few moments as I watched them rack up penalty yards. . . they had over 100 penalty yards, what the hell happened to them?

But once again they pulled it off in the end. I don’t know how they did it. One more magic spurt of energy at the end to win the game. I have to admit I enjoyed watching Paton Manning looking so bummed out on the sidelines. Unfortunately I also have to admit I think there was also more than just a bit of luck in our win like the Colts missing the first field goal attempt. What is it about the Colts that they seem so good at playing against the Pats? I really thought they had our number there for a while. I even thought about turning off the game as it was getting hard to watch.

But in the end all is well, 9-0 record and a bi week to recover from this one. . . . Here’s hoping they go all the way this year! Unfortunately we will probably have one more meeting with the Colts in the post season so we better be ready for them.
