Bail Out List. . .

HERE is a list of some of the items we are paying for with this bail out.

Too bad many of them have nothing to do with job creation. While I agree some of these (such as repairs to the Smithsonian) are worthy causes, they don't belong in a bail out bill.

Go and read - all the PORK you can eat. . . .

Gun Info Carry Bleg. . .

Ok, I know out of my 2-3 readers most of you carry . . . .

Question. I am looking to start carrying. Every time I go to do it I feel “weird” for lack of a better term with the gun on me.

How does one get over this? Did you start carrying around home just to get use to the feel or did you jump in with both feet and start to carry all over?

I also signed up for a Concealed Carry magazine so I can start to read up and learn more about this. Did you take any classes beyond the one needed for your permit?

The idea of defending myself is not really a problem as I hold a second degree black belt in one form of Karate and will get my brown belt in another next week. I guess I keep telling myself that I don’t need the gun as I can deal with things hand to hand. . . . but I know that is wrong. I don’t want to deal with a knife or gun hand to hand if I can avoid it and it seems silly not to carry since I have the permit. I also feel the way the country is going crime will go up so I need to be ready to protect my family when we are out and about just like at home. . .

This is MA, so I am trying to overcome years of brainwashing by the state I know but any useful comment on how you may have done it would be a great help -

Wall Street Bonuses

From the news last night – Wall Street is paying bonuses of $18 billion to the same bankers we just bailed out. . .

And the Dems didn’t see a need to put oversight into the first bail out. . . . Idiots.

Here is my wish – any company that could pay a bonus can pay us back the bail out money NOW. You obviously don’t need it since you are doing so well you are giving bonuses.

Any company that paid a bonus can not get a bail out this year. End of story

If Wall Street is doing so well why did we bail them out? Oh ya, the Dems in Congress were paying off their friends. . .

Where are the jobs that this was supposed to generate? Where is the easier credit this was supposed to generate? Why are we doing another bail out?

Why is such a small percent of the next bail out focused on job creation? Where is the rest going? I don’t think payments to Democrat fund raisers like Accorn is job creation folks. . . . not to mention payments for Family Planning, National Endowment for the Arts, etc etc. . . . .

Wake up America and write your congressman to stop this madness. . . .NO BAIL OUT

New England Teachers

Funny how mass gets a D for our teachers from the National Council on Teacher Quality - says we give tenure too easy and keep bad teachers while not retaining young good ones.

I find this really funny after reading in the Boston Globe yesterday how MA is one of the least Religious states in the nation. If you read the comments to that article all the self important fools were shouting about how great we were not religious and how that was because of our high level of education here. Some even went as far as saying that our (New England) great education let us avoid religion since we were too smart for it. . . . and how the south was a bunch of dumb Red Necks and that is why they are religious down there. . .. Before you get too excited know this – the South did as good as or better on these scores than we did. New England got either D or F on the scores (three of each covering all NE states). The south got Ds, two Cs and a B. . .

Guess that doesn’t really hold since we don’t have that good a school system here any more does it? What I do think holds is that we have poor teachers, can’t keep most of our good teachers because we give tenure to easy and protect poor performance. We also seem to have lots of Liberals that want a socialist state, high taxes, and chase away business and jobs. We also have lots of gun control in the cities like Boston so we have high crime rates. It is funny what passes for smarts around here. . . .

Every day I am here I just get more and more determined to move south when the economy turns enough that I can sell my house. Oh ya, another thing about MA – you are stuck here. . . . People are leaving faster than moving in so you can’t sell. . . .

I love this state. . . .

More Bail Out Info

There's $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There's even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons.

Yep, no pork in this bill folks. . . no wonder they want to force it through before we know what we are paying for. . .

And for MA:

Massachusetts' share of the "stimulus" bill? $11 billion.

Number of jobs "created or saved" in MA, according to a report in the Boston Globe-Democrat? 94,560.

Assuming this is accurate, the net cost to taxpayers? $116,328 per job.

Yep, real winner there. . . . can't wait.

Hears to HOPE that the Senate Republicans have CHANGEd to conservatives and vote against it.

Do as I say, Not as I do. . .

Obama and his latest double standard:

From Here

Mr Obama's sartorial standards are looser than Mr Bush's. The report said the US capital "flew into a bit of a tizzy" when, on his first full day in the White House, Mr Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation, the paper found: Mr Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

"He's from Hawaii, OK?" Mr Axelrod told the paper. "He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there."

He is quick to tell us we can't keep our house at 72 F but he can keep his warm enough to "grow orchids". . . this guy turns more and more into a joke every day.

From the campaign trail:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

Throw on top of this that he is tossing out formality in the Oval Office. You don't need a jacket to go in any more. . . . what ever happened to respecting the office? He is getting lax already.

I am glad to see that he has already forgot who he works for and that he is not our king or any better than the rest of us. If you can do it as POTUS then you have no right to tell us we can't do it. Despite what they told you in Chicago the rest of the country does not live on double standards or put up with it.

Bail Out and the Election

Do you need any proof beyond this that we really had two Democrats running for POTUS this year?

From CNN:
The sources say Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader, wants a "smaller, narrower" bill. Another group of Republicans including Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is working to craft a larger package that would include more infrastructure spending.

So McCain is not trying to cut spending but increase it! This guy is a RINO in a huge way. . . is it any wonder he could not get the vote?

What is with these folks? They don't get it. . . we are in trouble and need to STOP spending and get things under control. . . you can't spend your way out of debt for God sakes folks. . . .

Maybe they can vote McCain out next time around and put in a Conservative. . .

Bail Out WTF?

I am hearing rumors that the bail out that passed the House last night includes a tax rebate/credit to Illegal Aliens. . .

Anyone hear about this? What the heck are we paying them for when they don't pay taxes and don't belong here?

This thing is something like 85% pork. . . remember that in two years when we have our next elections. The government has no money to give away, it is yours and mine that they will TAKE with taxes and piss away to get Democrats to vote for them. Most of this bill will do nothing to create jobs or stimulate our economy. . . .

I am glad the Republicans did not get in on this so that the Dems can have all the credit when it blows up in their face. Unfortunately it will take us with it. . . .

Another Win for Freedom

From the NRA:

Fairfax, Va. – An NRA-led coalition of self-defense civil rights groups including the Second Amendment Foundation and the California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) has prevailed in a Second Amendment lawsuit challenging a ban on firearm possession in San Francisco public housing residences.

Good News, another win for the Second Amendment. And they are already talking about going after San Fan and LA on other gun laws!!!

Another win for the Constitution!

Icevill MA

Well, woke up to a nice ice driveway today. My brother in law even plowed it yesterday before it really started to rain to get most of the crap off the driveway. Still ended up with at least a half inch or more of ice over the whole thing. . . at least it is not 6" of ice and snow I guess. . . .

Looks nice and shiny but hell to try to walk on. Almost couldn't get the trash cans back from the end of the drive last night when the ice was wet. . . .

Threw down some salt and here is hoping that things warm up a bit so it will melt, otherwise it is going to be fun getting in and out of the homestead. . .

Bail Out

Well, it passed in the house (knew it would) but the Republicans seemed to have suddenly remembered who they are after 8 years and said no. He got 0 that is ZERO Republicans to fall for this. If it works, the Dems get the credit, but if it fails (and it will) they get the blame. This happened once before in 94 (I think) when Clinton tried to pass a huge tax package. It was the start of the Republicans rebuilding and taking the House back two years later.

The fight has started and the Republicans may actually have the balls to stand up to Dear Leader Zero. We may actually have a chance at preventing some of his crap from passing. . .

It is not much but it is a start. . . .

Obama Approval Rating

Well, as week one of Glorious Leaders rule ends we find his approval rating has dropped 15 points already. . . from 83% to 68%

At this rate he should be down to Bush's 25% by early March at the latest. . .

why does this surprise folks? You bought an empty suit that was all talk and had never done anything but seek higher office. You bought it and now that he actually has to do something and make a decision since he can't vote Present anymore you don't like what he is doing.

Let the terrorists go - yep, closed Gitmo
First interview with Islamic paper so he can say it is all America's fault - done
Fill next bail out bill with pork such as money that won't be spent til after 2010 - done
Partisan BS - yep - told the Republicans I won so deal with it. . .
and more to come . . .

He is out of touch with the real America. We were blinded by our need to see a change so much that he got in. . . . now we get to deal with the fall out. More tax and spend, more policies that failed to help in the great depression but will work now if we only try HARDER. . . to sum it up more of the same BS, just a D instead of an R after his name. . . .

This rating is going to keep going down as more and more people learn how far left this communist is. We are toast if Congress does not stop his plans to turn us into the latest version of Soviet perfection. I bet the drop next week will be good too. . . . You ain't seen nothing if his capital gains tax increase or the 401K takeover goes through. . . that will destroy our economy as he drives more and more companies out of the US. . .

Just think, slightly under four years to go. . .

Global warming my ass

From Gunslinger -

"The earth's temperature peaked in 1998. It's been falling ever since; it dropped dramatically in 2007 and got worse in 2008, when temperatures touched 1980 levels.

Meanwhile, the University of Illinois' Arctic Climate Research Center released conclusive satellite photos showing that Arctic ice is back to 1979 levels. What's more, measurements of Antarctic ice now show that its accumulation is up 5 percent since 1980."

Ya, how is that warming working for you. . . now they want to call it Global Climate Change so they can take credit whichever way it goes. . . I think it is time they shut up and start to do some real science instead of the political shit they keep shoveling at us. . .

Mayors Against Guns

From Say Uncle

Wow, it looks like the list of Mayors with corruption charges against them that are also on the Mayors against guns list is growing again. . . .

Anyone else see a trend or pattern here?

Stop trying to take my rights away you corrupt PoS. . .

Bail out BS

Can someone please tell my how this is going to help our economy? sounds like more Pork to me -

$4 billion to Acorn - Ya, the folks currently getting investigated and charged with voter fraud for the Democrats
$600+ million to the National Endowment for the Arts - Art is great, but not going to save the economy
$? millions for "Family Planning" - note most of this will probably go overseas too. . . .

And on the economy - One the way in to work I heard an ad for cheap vacations in the Bahamas due to the economy. . . . my only thought is if you can afford a vacation take it in the good old USA. There is plenty to see and do here and we would be helping keep Americans employed with our vacation money. . . .

More Snow

Nice commute in today. . . if all you folks that can't drive in snow would stay home like you did to day snow day commutes would be much better. I think I may have actually gotten in early today. . .

401K takeover?

From the net:

Reports have surfaced in recent days over House Democrat attempts to make significant changes to 401(k) plans in our country. They first want to remove the tax break we currently receive by contributing funds to a 401(k) plan. Then, they wish to enroll everyone into a government run retirement plan where you would be required to put away 5% of your income to earn a 3% return

Ain't that nice, they will take our money, give us less of a return, and decided when and what we get back. I am beginning to think the Dems really want to see if they can push us into a civil war. What the hell are they thinking? Where do they think they get the right to take my money? I am pretty sure that is against the Constitution someplace, I will have to dig a bit.

You folks still happy you put Obama in? If you have a job, you should be scared about what they are going to do to your taxes, your savings, and what will be left for your kids. . . . .

Forget socialism, he wants a full soviet USA or maybe we should say USSA. . ..

slow day

Not much to post today as I am on the road for work. . . .

Obama and Buyers Remorse

One week in and a poll of VOTERS says:

Obama shares my political views - 38%

Obama is left of my political views - 49%

Expect this to get worse as he tries to force through another bail out - oh, sorry, stimulus bill. Somehow funding abortion is part of the bill. . . Not really sure how that creates jobs or fixes our economy. I know what it does say - PORK

Obama is already spending his political capital to get pork pushed through that you, I and our kids will be paying for.

Obama keeps pushing that he will fix things like FDR. . .
Unemployment when FDR took office - 20%. Three terms of FDR unemployment dropped to 20%. . . . ya that worked. . .

Going to be a long ride folks

Update - OK, at the start of his third term it was still 20% - until WWII started. . .

Folks, what pulled the world out of the Great Depression and specifically the US out of it was WWII. . . . We don't want to go there again. Obama is missing the historical point here and not seeing that the policies of FDR did not work. . . .

Obama's first few days

An interesting post on what he has done so far is HERECheck Spelling
This article from a UK paper does a good job in showing how he is learning the hard way to play in DC. So much for his Hope and Change as far as working with Republicans to fix our nation. He seems to be doing his best to say "I won we do it my way". . . how is that working so far?

He also got pissed off at the press when asked a real question. . . . can't see more of them coming eh?

Then he tops it off by starting a war with the biggest conservative talk show host around. . . .

For a guy that was supposed to be smart and ready for the job he is starting to fall apart quick.

This may be good, if it keeps up we may just end up with stagnation in DC and Obama won't be able to do as much damage as he promised to our country before he is tossed out. Anyway he is making it look like 2010 will be another good year for the Republicans . . . .

Bail Out Bull

Findings of the Congressional Budget Office (run by Democrats, by the way) that only $26 billion of the House stimulus bill's $355 billion in new spending will be spent in the current fiscal year, and less than a third of the total will be spent by the end of 2010.

Isn't that nice? All we really needed to spend was $26 billion but we had to add in the pork so it went up to $355 billion. . . . folks, that is your money and mine. More important it is our kids money.

And now they want more? and do you know what they are going to spend it on?

Further proof that we are still going in the wrong direction in this country. And you know what? Congress controls the spending . . . who has been in control of Congress for the last two years and still is controlling Congress? Yep, the Democrats. . . .

Sorry, can't blame Bush for this one.

Mass Moments

House Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi will resign tomorrow at the end of the day. . . for those keeping track this is the third in a row that have had to leave office due to "legal issues". In other words they got caught and resigned so they could keep their pensions instead of getting tossed out and loosing it.

This state is rotten from the top down. This is the danger of a one party system. We have so few Republicans or Independents in office here it makes no difference. Who do we call to get the Fed in here to check them out? Of course if they do then we may need to hold another election to fill some vacant seats. . ..

What are we DOING?

As normal on a Sunday night the wife and I sat around watching Extreme Home Makeover. That was a very depressing show this week.

As I watched them show off this little town in Kansas (Chapman) where they were rebuilding a home for a wounded GI that was lost in a tornado I could not help but wonder why?

We spend BILLIONS of dollars overseas in Africa and elsewhere. . .. How can we justify that when we have folks at home that need the money. This little town of 1400 was left to rebuild on it’s own. Months had gone by and many folks were still living in temporary housing and trying to fix their own homes. The two schools in town had not even started repairs yet and the kids were using temporary classrooms.

Further proof that the government is messed up. Extreme Home Makeover came in to do the one house but when they saw the damage they ended up helping another family rebuild, building a tornado safe house for the town, and helping an old lady with a new garden at her new home so she could stop going back to the empty lot where she us to live to tend the gardens.

I swear I wanted to cry. How we can leave our own to live like this while we get all upset over how they are living in another country disgusts me. I don’t think we should be spending one penny on rebuilding any other country until we are finished fixing things at home.

Look at what we still have to do at home – we have areas still recovering from hurricanes and tornadoes and FEMA or any other aid is long gone. They tell us the very infrastructure of the county is falling apart (roads and bridges). These folks are left to rebuild on there own while we send their tax money overseas. Sorry, but that is wrong. If you are going to spend my money that you take in taxes to help anyone I want it to be another American.

We have lost our way, and Hillary wants to spend MORE on foreign aid? WTF? Obama will probably let her the dumb shmuck. I don’t know what to say or do. I wish I did but I am in MA and my government doesn’t listen to us. Maybe your congressmen listen to you. . . If so drop them a line and tell them to cut foreign aid until we are fixed here at home.

Battlestar Galactica

OK, I am eagerly awaiting tonights show. . .

Who the hell is Starbuck and will the rest of the cast find out who the 5th Cylon is?

This show is only getting better. It is too bad that it will be over soon. I know they are setting up to do a prequel but who knows if it will be as good or get a following.

I read an interview with the original Starbuck from the late 70's show. He thought the new one was too dark and not enough hope in it. I don't know. . . I think the show mirrors the real world a lot and it fits with today's problems. I like that they made a complex show that had to deal with many issues much like was done on Babalyon 5 a few years back.

Both shows are very good but reflect the time the were writen in. . .

Anyway here is to another episode and hope that we get a few more answers!

Happy Birthday

Other have covered this much better so I will only say:
January 23, 1855, John Moses Browning was born. Happy Birthday!

And I will someday get my hands on one of your masterpieces - a real 1911. . . .

Win Win!

Well, not only is Kennedy out as far as getting Hillary's Senate seat but now this bit of good info from Say Uncle:

Hillary Clinton’s replacement, Kristen Gillibrand, is reportedly pro-gun:

A big gun supporter, she’s been given a 100% approval rating by the NRA — she’s one of the extremely few Democrats on a federal level to win official NRA endorsement — and, this fall, she voted in favor of a controversial bill to repeal District of Columbia laws prohibiting the possession of semiautomatics.

This is good news for us. It has been my experience that folks that support gun rights also tend to support the rest of the Bill of Rights. Sounds like the good guys won on this one

Obama is pro choice

I think yesterday Obama came out officially supporting the right to choose.

GOOD. The Federal Government should not have a say in this issue. Sorry to you religious types that may disagree but I think this is a choice between mom and dad and her doctors if needed. I am not you and I am not "God" if you believe in one. It is your personal choice and you will have to answer for it in your way. If it ain't my kid I don't get a say.

Personally I could never support an abortion if the mothers life was not in danger but that is me and I don't have any right to make you do what is right for me. (unless you are interfering in my life or with my rights but that is different)

Pro Choice is Small Government and Government out of our personal lives as it should be.

Why do I get more and more scared every day Obama is in office? I keep thinking "He is doing the right thing. . . when will the other shoe fall?" I keep thinking I am getting set up for him to do something really stupid like attack the Bill of Right. I feel he is hiding something or trying to lull us into a false sense of security with him.

We will see

Update - He has screwed up. The pro choice thing I can live with. . . I don't want the government funding it. I am hearing on the news that he will reverse the Bush rule about the government funding abortion in and outside of the US.

This is wrong. The US government has no job paying for anyone's abortion, inside the US or in some foreign country. The government has no job being involved in it at all, so they most definitely should not be funding it.

Obama, get with it and stop wasting my tax money on this crap. Someone wants an abortion they can pay for it. I am not going to pay for it. You need to get your head back out of your ass and go back to the important stuff - The ECONOMY and the WAR. Forget the rest it is not important right now. And stop spending my money!

On TV Tonight

Folks want to spread the word so here we go:

One of Olofson's attorney's, Herb Titus, will be interviewed live tonight on Lou Dobbs. The program airs at 7:00 pm EST on CNN, so check your local listings in your time zone. I'm told significant information will be disclosed, and hope to have an update to this story soon to include documents just made public. [More]

Obama So Far

HERE is a list of actions so far. As things are now they look good to me. The more the power of Government is limited the better. Lets hope he keeps restricting power instead of trying to grow it like Bush did for the last eight years. . .

Gitmo is still my only worry. These are not nice folks we are holding there and I want to know more of his plans to deal with them before I get excited he is closing it.

Obama to close Gitmo

Sounds great. . . what will we do with the thugs and terrorists that we are holding there?

I do hope you are not going to bring them into the US or release them into the US since this is where they want to be to cause trouble. You do know that right Mr. President?

I have to say I don't like this one bit. I doubt any of them have useful info at this point since they have been out of circulation for so long but for God sakes folks lets not let them run around free. The other ones we let out we ended up having to fight all over again and recapture or kill. Let's do try and learn from out mistakes shall we? I keep hearing about how smart Obama is. . . lets see him prove it.

Update:
I am not sure I like where this is going. The radio folks are starting to sound like the loony left did getting all worked up over Gitmo being closed when we don't even know what they are going to do with the prisons held there.

While I agree this may be a bad move, I don't know until I hear what they will do with these folks. If there is any chance they will get freedom or even be let into the US then I am all for jumping all over this. If it just means we change the prison location and put them on trial then I am not as worried as long as we insure they will go to prison or back to their home country when this is over. I don't want any of them staying here where they can stir up trouble.

Folks, Obama probable will suck as POTUS, we will see. We gain nothing by becoming like the left and screeching about everything he does before we have all the facts. Lets build a sold case against Obama before we start to yell, we will get more folks to listen to us that way. . .

Caroline Kennedy Drops Out

For personal reasons - I didn't know "you arn't going to pick me" was a personal reason. This looks like a case of "you can't not pick me because I am pulling out of the running"

I am glad to hear it. I hate to see when someone gets appointed to a position like this due to name only. She is a hypocrite who's claim to public service is working to get folks to send their kids to New Your City Public Schools while she sent her's to PRIVATE SCHOOL. . .

This is America, you don't get you job due to your name - at least not in the public sector and that is the way it should be. It is time we stop treating the Kennedy's as royalty. We don't have Royals here remember? I hope folks learned something from all this.

Now the question is will they pick someone qualified or just another political hack with a different name. . . .

Boys are Trouble

And they start young. . . . my son is only 20 months old and he is driving us nuts.

Now lets start with how I dealt with my two daughters years ago. Put up gate - child stopped. Child cries. Put child in front of Sesame Street – all is well and child does not move until show is over. . . Child moves – put in new show. . .

Now for the boy. . . .. This kid should be a combat engineer. He can get over, under, around or through anything we put in his way.

Gate in the door way, scale gate and try to go over. Grunt (thank God he doesn't know sound travels) as you climb and get caught and put in front of the TV (or toy). Wait for parent to go back to doing something and go back to the gate - push the chair up to it and go over. Parent takes chair away - find toy big enough to climb and repeat. . . .

Gate with bars so you can’t get a foot hold? No problem, clime the couch, up to the cat tree and over. . . . Take away the cat tree? Couch to top of gate and over. . . . (smile at parents with look of "you make this too easy"/"that is all you got?")

Telephone out of reach, Pull on cord so you can get handset. Get caught when handset hits floor and put in front of TV(or other toy). Wait for parent to stop watching (see above) and push over chair, toy or other step so you can climb to phone height and bingo! You are at the phone. Tired of Mom and Dad using it? Turn off the ringer so they can’t hear it then you get all the parent time you want. . . .

Have I mentioned that he doesn’t talk yet? No need I guess as he gets most of what he want – on his own if needed. . . .

This is like living a big game of chess. Every road block I have come up with has only been temporarily with him. He comes up to the “new” road block, tries the old trick which does not work. . . OK, sits down and stares at the new problem. You can smell the smoke (and an occasional gear stripping) as he works out how to get over/under/around/through the problem. Finds solution then waits for parent to stop watching. . . .

I am slowly loosing the war of attrition to a 20 mo old. I can’t come up with obstacles as fast as he figures them out. . . . I wish someone had warned me about Boys. . . The two daughters had me totally fooled that I knew a bit about what I was doing as a parent. . . For those of you that watch Family Guy I think I am living with Stuie. . . He even has the "I am going to take over the world" look down.

I am so screwed. . . .

Mass Pike and 128

What the hell is with you folks! Two days in a row you have to smash into each other by the pike exit. 4 car pile up yesterday and a 2 car today. You idiots, the roads are clear, weather is good and you still can't drive for crap!

Tomorrow stay home so I can get to work on time will ya. . . or at least have your accident someplace more convenient - say within walking distance of your home to make it easier on us all. . .

LOST is back!!!

Tonight, the new season starts!!!

WOO HOOO

Obama's First Day

Well so far so good, the world has not ended. As I try to be neutral (I am an Independent) and follow the Constitution instead of a party I figured I should point out a few things that have come to my attention that Obama has done that may actually be good!

Obama actually did a couple of things I agree with today -

He froze the pay of all White House Staff making more than $100k/year.
He is also putting in place an order to open up the Freedom Of Information Act. It should make things more transparent.

Both of these are great moves. I hope he keeps them in place when they are used against him and the Dems, that will be the real test. . . .

This bugs me Pres. Obama

Got this over at Gunslingers. . .

Headlines About Bush's Inauguration:

"Republicans spending $42 million on inauguration while troops Die in unarmored Humvees"

"Bush extravagance exceeds any reason during tough economic times"

"Fat cats get their $42 million inauguration party, Ordinary Americans get the shaft"

Headlines About Zero's Inauguration:

"Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $120 million"

"Obama Spends $120 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party"

"Everyman Obama shows America how to celebrate"

"Citibank executives contribute $8 million to Obama Inauguration"
I know it was historic and all but with our nation in the shape it is we did not need a POTUS that will piss away money like this. I really find it telling that Bush got shit over his costs and Obama got a pass from the Media that elected him.

This does not bode well for our country. The media has an important job of keeping us informed and the government transparent as much as it can. It has give up this job and sold us out in the name of Obama. I hope they find their way back to what they should be doing and give Obama the same scrutiny they gave Bush - that is their job. If they abandon that we are all in trouble. We need a neutral media that goes after ALL the folks in DC, not just the ones with an R after their names.

No more globle warming. . .

Found this over at Moonbattery Original is HERE:

At December's U.N. Global Warming conference in Poznan, Poland, 650 of the world's top climatologists stood up and said man-made global warming is a media generated myth without basis. Said climatologist Dr. David Gee, Chairman of the International Geological Congress, "For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming?"
I asked myself, why would such obviously smart guy say such a ridiculous thing? But it turns out he's right.
The earth's temperature peaked in 1998.
What's more, measurements of Antarctic ice now show that its accumulation is up 5 percent since 1980.
In other words, during what was supposed to be massive global warming, the biggest chunks of ice on earth grew larger. Just as an aside, do you remember when the hole in the ozone layer was going to melt Antarctica? But don't worry, we're safe now, that was the nineties.
Dr. Kunihiko, Chancellor of Japan's Institute of Science and Technology said this: "CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or the other … every scientist knows this, but it doesn't pay to say so." Now why would a learned man say such a crazy thing?
This is where the looney left gets lost. Their mantra is atmospheric CO2 levels are escalating and this is unquestionably causing earth's temperature rise. But ask yourself — if global temperatures are experiencing the biggest sustained drop in decades, while CO2 levels continue to rise — how can it be true?

Dalai Lama on Terrorism

HERE is a neat post that brings up the Dalai Lama's thoughts on Terrorism. It is rather a surprising take on it. I will have to see what else he has said on it.

Overall I admit I have huge respect for the Dalai Lama so I admit I am bias. I never thought we would agree on this one though. . .

Good Luck Sen. Kennedy

News is that he collapsed at a lunch and had a seizure. Now I am about as opposite as can be of Sen. Kennedy as far as politics. I have looked forward to the day that he retires but I didn't want it like this. I had hoped that he would retire to deal with his heath issues and live out a peaceful life after politics. . . does not look like that is to be right now.

I have had family members die of cancer and I can't say I would ever wish that on anyone. If this is the end I hope it is quick and painless - the torture cancer can put you through is not only hard on the patient but also on the family as some of you may know. . .

So, Sen. Kennedy I wish you well and you and your family will be in my thoughts.

And now it is Done

That is how you do it folk. A peaceful passing of power. No one was hurt, a new party is running things and we are all one for today.

Tomorrow we will go back to fighting over the best way to lead the country but for today we are one.

And for all the Euro Weenies and the UN out there that cry about how many guns we have here. . . you know what? Not one of them was used in the change of power. It can happen that way when everyone acts like an adult and with honor.

We have made history, we have our first black President. I wish him well and a long and happy life. That does not mean I will agree with all he does, and will make my feeling known when I think he goes against the best interests of our country and our Constitution.

I hope he can do what is needed to truly bring us back together as a people and fix our economy. To do this he will have to stand up to Congress who is already working to push partisan laws such as gay marriage and gun control on us. We don’t need more division, we don’t need Congress limiting our rights. I hope you are up to the job President Obama, because we desperately need someone who is. I hope you will continue your move to the middle and will govern reasonably and by our Constitution. I hope you can bring back the greatness that was once this country. . . .

It has started. . . .

Once again we show the world that even though we disagree with each other and have a knock down drag out election, once we have a winner the transition of power is peaceful. The winners and losers abide by the election and come together as one people to see our new President take office.

This is what makes America great folks. How many other countries can have all the issues we do, the fights and disagreements but still come together to peaceably transfer power from one party to the next. . . .

We are a lucky people - We are Americans

Another Funny

Found this at "Say Uncle" - Link on the side. . .

With all the snow we got around here I just had to post it. . ..

Funny

No matter what side you were on in November, this is just funny:

Obama Forever?

For the last eight years I have listened to the left as they yelled, screamed and feared that George W. would not leave office at the end of his second term as prescribed by law. . . I know the left does not believe it but he will leave office today. Had he tried to stay in power he would have been removed by force if needed by the citizens of this great land, both on the left and right. The two term limit was set down as law in the 22 Amendment although almost all Presidents followed the two term limit since it was “set” by George Washington.

The 22 Amendment reads:
Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

Section 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

Now there is a congressman trying to stir up trouble by removing this Amendment now that his guy is in office:
109th CONGRESS
1st Session
H. J. RES. 24
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
February 17, 2005
Mr. HOYER (for himself, Mr. BERMAN, Mr. SENSENBRENNER, Mr. SABO, and Mr. PALLONE) introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

Can I say this is a bad idea? If Obama has any of the brains I have been hearing about and really does want to unify the country he will help to squash this quick. This kind of partisanship has been going on for 8 to 16 years now depending on who you talk to. It has not helped one bit. The term limit for the President is a good idea, good enough that it has passed all the hurdles to be an Amendment.

Now we have had bad Amendments before (see Prohibition of alcohol – 18th Amendment) but most have stood the test of time for a reason. And for all those pro Obama folks that want him in for life remember what you do will go for the next guy too. . . . How would you like George W. in for life?

Obama needs to unit this country; we can not stand long if we stay divided this way. He won’t be able to do that with idiots in Congress trying to pass crap like this while our economy and our way of life crumbles around the voters heads. . . . And the jokers that proposed this bill should be thrown out by the voters next time around. They forget who they work for. . .

Today is Historic

Ignoring the fact that Obama is a Socialist and I am against almost everything he plans to do to us I must admit that today is historic in a good way too.

Today the first African American takes the office of the President of the United States. Now I would be much happier if it was Condi Rice being sworn in but that is not to be – at lest for now. This is a great day in that fact alone. This country has made great strides in equality that have let us get to this point. Of that I am proud.

Yes, this man will be President. As an American he will be my President. I don’t have to like it and I will complain about everything he does that is against the Constitution but I will respect the office if not the man.

I wish him health and success at keeping us safe. Beyond that I hope his socialist agenda fails and he does little to no damage to us in the next four years. Bush was bad, Obama has the potential to be worse. For now, that is all it is – potential. Time will tell

Today is Obama's big day

And it remains to be see if it is for good or bad that he becomes POTUS. Either way I thought this was appropriate:

This makes me sick. . . .

Lisa Gladden (D), a Maryland state senator, made the following asinine statement last week :

It doesn’t matter if the state of Maryland is broke as long as Barack Obama is President of the United States – this is great!

I don't know how to answer that. . . . WTF? How can anyone say such foolishness with a straight face. And they put this person in office? She needs to go read over her job description again. I don't care who is getting into the White House if you are a state senator you should care about the health of your state above all else, that is your F'ing job. . . .

I pray that once the Chosen One gets into office tomorrow the insanity will subside and our country will once again focus on what is important instead of the color of our leader - our country and fixing it.

Socialism is Bad um’k?

I was reading how bad socialized medicine is on one of the blogs I read, TOTWTYTR. He has it right – it is a dream that don’t work in the real world. You want socialized medicine then you should be forced to live under it in Canada or the UK for a year before you try to bring it here.

Beyond that though Obama will be pushing a number of Socialist programs on all of us. I hope that Congress will stop him like they did/do our good Governor here in MA but we will see.

All of this leads me to ask the question “Why would any American want to push Socialism on us?” I don’t get it. Socialism does not work, look at Europe and the issues they are having.

More importantly look at US, the good old USA. . . . We are the last and only Super Power in the world today. We have the country everyone seems to want to get into by legal means or otherwise. . . We have a great standard of living (if not the best) and we have always been able to expect our kids to have a better life than we do. We have the highest level of technology around. How did we get these things? Not through Socialism.

This country got to be the great country it is by good OLD values. Not socialism, not “Christian” values, not anything but good old AMERICAN VALUES. We built this country by allowing people to take risks, work hard and sometimes even invent things - and dealing with the results. If you did well they you may make some money or even become filth rich – if you fail then you get to start over. People kept what they earned and only gave a bit to the government to run our defense and needed services. Key word here is NEEDED. The government did not deal with what you wanted – only what was really NEEDED to live such as roads and basic laws. People decided how much they could afford to give to charity not the government and these private charities took care of the poor and sick that could not care for themselves. People were responsible for themselves and their families and their actions. You broke the law you paid the price, no matter what your childhood was like. . .

Look at it from the other side - No socialist country has made it. The USSR was the biggest and best attempt at this ever and it still failed. It could not compete with us and fail trying to. Corruption is a natural part of life and Socialism seems to thrive on it. The USA had risk and reward and became a super power. The USSR has Socialism and “social security for all” and failed with the people only able to dream about things we took for common every day while many went hungry. Socialism leads to corruption, power grabs, police states, food shortages and lower standards of living. Prove me wrong if you can – I would love to know where it has worked past the first optimistic generation at best. . .

Our Founding Fathers built this country on the ideal that the best government was one that governed least. (Yes that means a small government that is not into everything) The more we move away from that model the more problems we have. The move problems we have the more we move away from the model. It is time to wake up. We are well along on the past to Socialism but we are not there yet. We can turn this around but we need to do it now. Stand Up, Speak Up! We need to make sure the government knows that we don’t want to go down that path. Will it hurt? Yes, but far less than it will if we stay on this path.

It is time to exercise our patriotic duty to dissent with our leaders and let them know what we think. It is time to go back to the old tried and true ways that built this country. We need to go back to speaking English, holding people responsible for their actions and letting them rise or fall based on their own abilities. We need to stop wasting our future and our kids future by spending like drunken sailors on things like bail outs of private companies, and nation building. Stop sending huge amounts of cash overseas to Africa or the UN or any one else just so we can feel good about ourselves. We can’t spend enough to fix the world. We need this cash at home to fix our own house first. We need to fix our own schools and roads and so many other things. Only when we have our own house in order should we even consider the charity work we are paying for in other countries today. This is a big world - we should not have to shoulder the load on our own. We should help when asked but only to the extent we can afford and we should never be running things in another country. If you ask for help then you need to put your own people on the line to do the work - we will work with you - but we will not do it for you. We will help you up but you have to do the work yourself.

We need to go back study the writings of our Founding Fathers who built this great land and learn from them. They did not want us involved in so many things our government has gotten into. The idea of a government this involved in our every day lives would be beyond belief for them. They did not want us sending troops and money all over the world to try to control things. They were outright against nation building and said so. They wanted us to have open trade with other countries but other than that leave them alone to fend for themselves unless they are a threat to us. They did not want us interfering in other countries except in self defense! (And in self defense we need to stop caring what the world thinks. You threaten us we will destroy you – end of discussion) When has it ever helped us to get involved in another nations affairs that didn’t involve us directly?

They had a reason for this. Lets go back to living by our Constitution and governing by it. We should be an example for the world for sure, but not by forcing it on them with our cash or military. We need to go back to being the country everyone wants to be like because we are successful, live in peace, and enjoy a good life with our children. We do this by keeping to ourselves and live by our own Constitution.

Battlestar Galactica

OK, it is back and better than ever!

What a start. The show was a bit on the depressing side, but not quite Platoon or Saving Private Ryan. The two surprises on the “who is a Cylon” front were awesome!

SPOILDER ALERT
Don' t read further if you taped the show and have not watched it yet

(why the hell have you not watched it yet????)

OK, Who is the 5th Cylon? Tighs wife Ellen or Starbuck? I don’t know where this is going to go but I can’t wait for the ride to start up again with the next show!

They set things up so Starbuck looks like a Cylon, she finds her crashed ship and body then destroys the evidence but is she Cylon? How can she be #5 if Ellen sees Tigh at the end and says they will be reborn. . . Talk about a great twist!

There are 12 Cylon models, so where does that leave Starbuck? Is she a 13th no one knows about or is she a hybrid too?

And do the “Earth Cylons” have a resurrection hub somewhere that they use? Can all the Cylons use it to replace the destroyed one?

This show brought out more questions than it answered. I can’t wait to see the rest of this series to see how they wrap it all up.

Obama to be crowned tomorrow

OK, I am already sick of all the hype and he is not even Lord President yet. If he was a republican this would never be happening. The hype is disgusting and continuous. In this economy he blew $200 on the party for his taking office. Far more than Bush did but they will never tell you that.

I saw a write up yesterday that supposedly covered the points Obama will cover in his speech. . . he sounded like a conservative

He wanted to end the “do whatever we want” attitude in the country
He wanted to “go back to American Values”
He wanted people to “be responsible”

All I could think is wouldn’t that be the best thing ever if he turns out to be more conservative than Bush (not that it would be hard)? Maybe he will shift to the middle in order to actually bring the country together instead of playing party politics. It is a nice dream, I doubt it will happen.

Can you imagine the left if it did? They would go nuts! You could hear head popping all over the country as he shifts further and further to the right on them. . . .

I am sure he was just talking and it means nothing like most of what he has said but it is nice to think about. I would love to see the tree huggers and the left throwing themselves in front of busses because Obama turned out to be a middle of the road President. I don’t think they could handle it. They are freaking out over his pick of a priest to do a prayer at the inauguration ceremony for God sakes. Can you imagine the outrage if he stays in the middle to govern? They think the left has just bought the country and that they can now do as they want. . . . Wait for the surprise when it don’t work that way.

There is no way Obama can live up to the hype they have pushed for him. The media has played him up so much I don’t think there is any way he can possibly live up to the hype. Because he is just a guy, he will fall short and the left will go for blood when he does. They don’t get it. Even when they are in charge they don’t get it. . . We will see . . . And as for repeal of the 22 Amendment so Obama can serve forever? Don’t see it happening folks so move on. We have bigger issues to deal with today they your fantasy of Obama ruling for life. Heck I bet by summer the left will have turned on him and he won’t make a second term never mind a third if he could. . . .

6 more inches of snow last night

This is great. Anyone have Al's address so I can send him a bill for cleaning my driveway?

I want my global warming and I want it NOW!

Boston Glob Lay Offs

Hey now there is a surprise. The liberal rag the Boston Globe is still loosing ground and is looking for 50 people in the news department (I use the term loosely) to take a buy out or they will have to start laying folks off.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Boston Globe. I get the Sunday Paper from them because I like the comics and the wife likes the ads they have. The rest of it gets used all week to start the fireplace. . . . What? You didn't think I wasted time reading it did you?

Battlestar Is Back

Tonight on Sci Fi Battle Star Galactica is back! Last 10 shows start tonight. Can't wait to see what happens. There is supposed to be a big surprise and twist so if you are a fan, don't miss it!

Miracle Landing

Folks I am sure by now you have all heard about the A300 landing on the NYC Hudson River.

All I can say is I am amazed no one was killed or even badly hurt. Worst case I have heard of was a few broken bones. . . not bad considering. . ..

I think we have three main things to thank for this:
1 – The engineers of the A300 – it is my understanding they thought to put a button in the cockpit that with one push seals closed all the valves to the outside world helping to make the plane water tight. They also designed a plan that could float for a while if you didn’t open the back doors. Well done. Even though you are French we will give you an atta-boy for a job well done.
2 – The cabin crew who had the piece of mind to stick to their training and not open the back doors. They also got everyone out quickly and effectively onto the wings and rafts instead of the freezing water. . .
3 – Last and probably most important Capt. Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger who put this bus down on the water without flipping, cracking open or otherwise damaging this plane with no engines. This guy had the worlds biggest glider and he managed to land it on water in one piece. He then had the guts to stay with it and walk the plane twice to make sure everyone was out before he left the aircraft. Sir that shows guts! We could use a lot more folks like Capt. Sully in this world.

I also think a thank you is in order for the quick response of the boats in the area and the first responders. This event shows what Americans can do at there best. You all showed us what we can be if we would only live up to it. Thank you for your great example! Heroes one and all.

Update - I just heard that the pilot is former Air Force. Can I say NO SURPRISE? As soon as I heard what happened I said "any bets he is ex military?". Further proof that our guys are the best in uniform and after too. . .

COOOOOOLLLLLLDDDD

-2 F on the way in today. . . . .

Obama and his crooked cabinet

Here is a new kind of Hope and Change - Obama does not care that Treasury Secretary-designate Tim Geithner is a crook.

He is guilty of tax evasion. He knew he had taxes to pay and didn't for years. Yet he is OK as far as Obama is concerned. All is forgiven. You see he paid the taxes just before Obama picked him for his new job. . . . .

Ya, if you or I didn't pay our taxes you think we would get let off and forgiven by the government. . . no me either.

To top it off it is more than just being a tax cheat. He got reimbursed by his employer for the taxes he supposedly paid each year. So he knew enough to file with his company to get the tax money back but he didn't know he had to pay the taxes? And Obama wants him to head the Treasury? And Obama knew about it all before picking him? (he did)

Obama is just more of the same in DC. The only Hope and Change here is our hope that something would change in DC. Keep hoping cause it ain't changing. . .

DC is going from just corrupt to Chicago level corrupt. (well, I guess that is change) We ain't seen nothin yet. You want corruption, ask a liberal. . . .

You do what WE SAY newbie

Can some one tell me when we gave up our rights to live free? Just because you are the new guy on the block does not mean you are now in charge of the rest of us. There is an opinion piece in the Patriot Ledger HERE that states “Suburban growth should trigger gun law changes”

It goes on to discuss how folks are moving into all the small towns on the South Shore of MA and the growth is causing them to put housing near the gun clubs. Now please note that most of these gun clubs have been here since the early 1900’s. Scituate is something like 1929.

The writer thinks that the gun clubs should have to shut down or be limited due to the new homes. . . .

When did America turn into this crap? What the hell is this guy thinking? I don’t understand how the left can think they have the right to move into my town and tell me that my gun club that has been here for 80 year needs to close because they don’t feel safe. Are you kidding me? You are the new guy in town, shut up and deal.

Folks, if you move into town then you deal with the gun club. If you don’t feel safe with me shooting at the range near by they don’t buy that house. No one made you move into my town, and if you want to cause problems go do it someplace else. If you didn’t know about the club when you moved in that is not my problem - it is yours, do your homework on the next house and good luck selling this one.

If you really think this is a safety issue than the town should change the zoning and not allow you to build down range of the club. The town should not in any way have the right to close or change the way the club runs.

It makes me sick that we have a generation of morons who FEEL they have the right to screw with me and my life because they want to. They move into town and all of a sudden we need to change the way we do things to fit the NEW person? I don’t think so. You move into my town you change the way you live to fit in here, we are not changing to fit you. Don’t like it then move back to where you came from.

Seems this is a major immigration problem and not just with the folks from outside our country. A simple reminder then – you are the outsider who wants to become part of US, we don’t want to become like you. If we did we would move to where you came from . . . . Since you came here it is up to you to conform to the way we do things. Deal with it or move – it is still a free country for now. . .

Mass Gas Tax

Looks like it will be going up to $0.50 per gallon . . . .

Can you say we will get screwed again here?

UPDATE

They also talk about using the gas tax to get rid of Pike tolls and consolidation of our different mass transit departments in MA. One problem. Once they all merge they will not lay off anyone. . . so we get to keep all the hacks and friends and family of our politicians and their salaries. What is the point of the merger again???

I love MA

Funny

OK, got this joke by email today. . . It probably would be funny if I didn't live in MA

Two guys work for the city: one furiously digs a hole, the other quickly fills the hole.

A confused passerby asks, "Why do you dig a hole and fill it up again?"

The digger leans on his shovel and replies, "The lazy jackass who plants the trees is sick again today."

Obama's Magic is failing already?

Obama take over in a few days. You would thing the DOW would be going through the roof with all the news of how Zero is going to save us all. . . . .

The reality is that the DOW had gone down for the last six sessions . . . . maybe the folks that actually know what is going on don't like Zero's plan for more bail outs. Maybe they see the real cost of all this government BS on our economy and how we will pay for this for years. Our kids and grand kids will be paying for this mess. And even with all the hype things are getting worse.

We put the wrong guy in office and now we will pay for it for years. . . . It will be a long wait until 2010. I hope we can contain the damage until then. I also hope the Republicans can get their head out of their ass and see that turning into Democrats Lite will not get them back in power. We need real Conservative Constitutionalists in power to turn this country around and help us rebuild.

You want to see us become a great country again we need to do a few key things:
Stop Nation Building. If they are no threat to us ignore them. If they are a threat squash them and move on.
Cut taxes - Big government is the problem not the solution. More money in the hands of citizens and private business will rebuild our economy
Cut Welfare - this is a hold over from the great depression and it didn't help then either. WWII got us out of the depression, not welfare.
Cut the number of Government employees (state and fed) - this goes with smaller government
Force the government to go back to the Constitution. It is only allowed to do what the Constitution says. If the Constitution does not give the government the ability to do something than it can't do it. All rights not spelled out in the Constitution belong to the state and the individual, not the FEDS.

Yes this will hurt, deal with it. We are in a bad place and getting out will hurt. Folks in the government will be out of work and have to get real jobs. too bad. The government needs to be run like a private business. No more HACKS on the pay roll

Foreign Policy Fail

Found HERE:

Yet the arms that cartels can and do buy from the open U.S. market -- completely illegally -- leave Mexico's police force and even its military outgunned. There are nearly 7,000 gun shops along the southern U.S. border, about three for every mile. They sell thousands of hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, AK-47s, and "cop killer" guns and bullets that cut through Kevlar body armor. The weapons quickly flow south, again with barely a nod from U.S. Border Patrol.

The folks over at Foreign Policy web site need to stick to what they know foreign policy (at least I hope they know that) since they don't know guns. For the record you can't buy hand grenades or rocket-propelled grenades anywhere in the US at a gun store. . . You also can't buy fully auto AK-47s or any other machine guns (and haven't been able to since 1936 I believe). No "cop killer" stuff either (no such thing) as armor piercing ammo is illegal too. You can buy semi automatic guns, and hunting guns and hand guns.

Mexico needs to stop blaming us for it's problems and clean up it's own house. Why is it that the gun control nuts can't see it doesn't work (look at Boston, NYC or DC) and when it is pointed out to them that it fails they blame somedude for it. It is always the fault of the easy access to guns in the next town or next city or next state - and for some reason the "next town, city or state" seems to have lower crime with them lax gun laws than the "Gun Free Zone" place does. . . .

They don't get it and never will. That is why we need to dig in and get ready for a long fight to protect our rights with Zero in charge. . . .

Mayors Against Illegal Guns

And another one goes down. . . the current number of members of Mayors Against Illegal Guns that have been arrested and charged. . . . .

Sounds like a group I want running things. The name is deceptive as they are really an anti-Second Amendment group so they want to disarm us and rule us. . . . yet they keep getting arrested. . . .

Writers block

OK, show of hands. . . How many of you come up with great blog ideas on the ride home or into work but forget about them before you can write them?

Ya me too. . . .

COLD (and snow)

Folks, you know it is cold out when you can feel your mustache freeze on the walk from the car to the office (say 2 min outside). . . .

And we are getting 2-5 inches of global warming today on top of that. . . . I can't wait. My driveway is all black ice due to the slight thaws during the day that freeze before I can get home to do anything about it. . . now we will put snow on top of that. . . . Ya Hoo

Repeal the 22 Amendment

The Dems feel that Obama should not be limited to 2 terms in office, so they want to remove this amendment. He has not even taken the oath yet and they pull this crap. . . . They really think Zero is GOD. . . what is with you folks. . .

Representative José Serrano (D)NY introduced H.J. Res. 5, which would make a third term possible for Presidents. Or a fourth? What about a lifetime career?

Serrano’s a Democrat. Does he want Clinton back? Or could it be that he and his cronies are setting up Obama for a nice, long run a la Chavez and Castro?

More HERE

Lets just say this guy is nuts and hope it goes as far as the last attempt in 2005 did - which is no where. Presidential term limits are a good thing. We should have term limits for all government positions so that folks will not make a life out of it. Government should not be a career, you are there to serve the people, not yourself.

Our Glorious Leaders drift further and further away from any connection with the working "man" who makes this county work. Without the middle class there is no America yet our leaders have lost touch with our needs and values. They are more concerned about the terrorists in Guantanamo, or the illegals coming over the border or the criminal on the street that wants to mug us than they are about us. They want to limit our spys, release our enemys and prevent us from closing our borders or defending our selves. All to keep the money flowing in to their election campaingns from the unions and special interst. They sold us out and want to do it again.

Keep an eye on this one folks, and pray it does not pass - nothing good can come of it. Should I be more scared that they want Obama in there for ever before he has proven he can do the job or the fact that this law could let a George W. Bush stay in there next time one gets in? You say "na, he would get voted out" and I would say you are a fool. Both sides steal elections these days and we have done nothing to stop them. This won't help.

Snow Update

Boston area 2"-4" tomorrow and F'n cold. . . . I blame Canada and Al Gore. . . .

Facebook

OK, I got my Facebook account set up and even linked to a few fellow gun bloggers. Is it just me or is it rather amazing who you can get back in touch with on this thing?

I am rather embarrassed that my wife set up her account and got flooded with folks she knew . . . me not so much. . . . I guess I am/was more of a geek than I thought. . . Too much D&D in school I guess. . . .

I admit I am not looking to have millions of friends on Facebook. I want to at least know the person some how that I am connecting to - either through reading their blog or having met them at some point or even just having emailed back and forth so I at least know a bit about them.

I am glad we didn't have this when I was in school. . . I would have killed way too much time on the net and Facebook. . . I think I would have gotten creamed on my grades and then the folks would have killed me and that would be that. So I am here today to play on Facebook and blog because I could not do this years ago when I was in school. . . .

WOW - Atlas Shrugged in WSJ

I never would have expected to see this kind of write up in WSJ.

Maybe they do see the impending train crash we are headed for. . .

Obama may be in for a very short popularity period if the media starts to turn against him already. I think he will quickly become one of the most unpopular leaders we have ever had once the media has no more Bush to blame and Obama is running things. They will smell the "blood in the water" and take him and the rest of DC apart as the economy falters more. . . .

This is going to be a long, ugly ride

Cali losing people. . .

From Komo News:

California's loss is extremely small in a state of 38 million. And, in fact, the state's population continues to increase overall because of births and immigration, legal and illegal. But it is the fourth consecutive year that more residents decamped from California for other states than arrived here from within the U.S., according to state demographers.

A losing streak that long hasn't happened in California since the recession of the early 1990s, when departures outstripped arrivals from other states by 362,000 in 1994 alone.

I don't know why this surprises folks, they tax the hell out of you and treat you like a criminal and wonder why you are leaving?

I think we will see more of this in MA soon too if it has not started already. Liberal ideas are great but don't work in the real world. The folks stuck paying for them don't like handing over 40%-50% or more of their pay check to the state so they move. I know that when I can I will leave MA and be happy about it. Right now I could not sell my house if I needed to so I am stuck like many others here.

I will be very interested in seeing what happens if and when the market turns around. If Obama has not destroyed the rest of the country I think you will see lots of folks heading out of MA for a free state. . . . I think the companies and jobs will follow them too. Companies don't want to pay taxes any more than you do. . . .

Gun sales still strong

I hope Obama aka Zero gets it and stays away from the gun issue. Folks are buying them like no tomorrow and I doubt they are doing it just to hand them back over.

We have so many other more important issues to deal with in this country like JOBS and the ECONOMY that I hope he has some of the brains they all say he does and goes to fix the important stuff instead of further dividing the country over taking our rights away. . .

We will see, less than a week until the Golden One takes office. . .

Obama Bail Out in trouble?

With Obama as popular as he will ever be he is pushing for another bail out.

60% Americans are against it unless it includes cutting their taxes too. . . .

This is not what Obama signed on for. His plans will need to raise our taxes not lower them. This is probably the start of the inevitable downward slide of his popularity. Right now he is still golden, but once he takes office he will have to do something and this will not make him popular. He has already upset his base by not being as left as they want, and he probably will have to stay to the center to actually fix anything or at lest have a chance at fixing it.

I don't think he will even get through the 100 days without a major loss in popularity. Buyers remose is on its way economy size. . . we will see. If he goes after the Second Amendment it will be even quicker as he will alienate the gun owners and normal folks that will see him as distracted from the real issues of the country, the economy.

I don't think he can win this one. It will be a long four years but when done I think there is a good chance he will be even less popular than Bush is. . . . and our country may be even more divided than it is now.

There are still some good folks out there

Go, Read

In the News

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has a simple, blunt message for hunters in Wisconsin: When a DNR warden asks you to give up your legal firearm, do so, plain and simple, no matter what.

What's more, that goes for all citizens, the agency has asserted. Citizens with firearms, the DNR argues, should always do exactly what law enforcement officers tell them to do, regardless of the circumstances of the situation. [More]

Funny, I though that questioning the government was patriotic right Hillary? This is bull. This is how they want us to learn to be sheep and never question the government. You folks ever heard of crooked cops? How about crookend DNR folks? One should never have to give up anything gun or otherwise to the government when no crime has been committed and the item is legally owned.

Folks, the government works for us, not the other way around. Don't let them tell you otherwise. Our founders would be horrified at what we have let the government become. . .

HEY MORE SNOW

Can't wait! More snow due in here on Thursday. . . Couple of inches so they say at this point. . . .

Love that global warming folks. . . .

ARRGGGGG

Mass Gas Tax

Our lovely Governor has started to say he likes the gas tax idea. . . . we still have not looked at what we can cut in this state but we need more taxes.

How much you ask? How about $0.20 per gallon additional tax?

Notice that they say this now while gas is cheap. If it goes back up to $4 a gallon we will still have an additional $0.20 we pay the state on top of it. We will not see this tax go down. I bet we will still have Mass Pike Tolls too even though they say this will let them drop the tolls. . . this state never gives back money. . . .

I really wish I could move out of this state. Problem is we are all stuck here. You can't sell your house for a decent price here as everyone is leaving and no one is moving in. . . wonder why? Trapped like a rat in MA. . . .

You know I am starting to hope the crazy Russian is right and the US breaks up into multiple countries. I will happily move to the most Red one we end up with. I would love to live somewhere where the Constitution actually means something . . . .

OH MY GOD WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE

Folks, this may be the end. The news today said we may have reached the day that the last Twinky is made. . . . the factory that makes Twinkys can not get a bail out so may shut down. . . . .

The end may truly be near. . . . .

Fed bail out

From the Boston Herald

Federal regulators are asking financial institutions to monitor their use of government money received under the $700 billion rescue plan and other support.

OK, Fox- Hen House. . . Anyone?

This is nuts. Here, have billions of dollars and you keep and eye on what you do with it and let us know OK?

Gotta love this. Any wonder why the fix ain't working?

Cell Phones Again. . .

Now they want to ban ALL cell phone use in the car. Hands free or otherwise.

Folks this is getting ridicules. Cell phones do not cause any more accidents than singing to the radio or talking to the guy in the passenger seat does. The government has no reason to be messing around with this. We don't need new laws to fix an imaginary problem.

How will a cop know if you are using a hands free or singing to the radio? If you are driving erratically can they already pull you over for that and ticket you?

There are no facts backing this up. They claim a cell phone is as bad as being drunk. . . prove it. Don't tell me you have studies and you know it and all that crap. SHOW me the data. If you can't show me GOOD, SOLID SCIENTIFIC DATA than shut up and go back under whatever government controlled rock you came from. Stop trying to force the government and your feel good crap into my life.

You want a new law? How about this. . . The government is not allowed to pass any more laws without proven scientific facts backing them up. No more feel good BS like the cell phone ban or gun ban or smoking ban or . . . .

More snow this morning. . . .

From an email. . . . an MA snow diary

AUG. 1
Moved to our new home in Massachusetts. It is so beautiful here.
The city is so picturesque. Can hardly wait to see it covered with
snow. I LOVE IT HERE

OCT. 14
New England is the most beautiful place on earth. The leaves are
turning all different colors. I love the shades of red and orange.
Went for a ride through the hills and saw some deer. They are so
graceful. Certainly they are the most peaceful animals on earth. This
must be paradise. I LOVE IT HERE.

NOV. 11
Deer season will open soon. I can't imagine anyone wanting to
kill such an elegant creature. The very symbol of peace and
tranquillity. Hope it will snow soon. I LOVE IT HERE.

DEC. 2
It snowed last night. Woke up to find everything blanketed in
white. It looked like a postcard. Went outside and20cleaned snow off
the steps and shoveled the driveway. We had a snowball fight today (I
won). When the snowplow came by we had to shovel the driveway again.
What a beautiful place. Mother Nature in perfect harmony. I LOVE IT
HERE.

DEC. 12
More snow last night. I love it. The snowplow did his trick again
(that rascal). A winter wonderland. I LOVE IT HERE.

DEC. 19
Snowed again last night. Couldn't get out of the driveway to get
to work this time. I'm exhausted from shoveling. Damn snowplow!

DEC. 22
More of that white shit fell last night. I've got blisters on my
hands from shoveling. I think the snowplow hides around the corner and
waits until I'm done shoveling. That Asshole!

DEC. 25
"White Christmas" my busted ass. More snow. If I ever get my
hands on that son-of-a-bitch who drives that snowplow, I swear I will
castrate the dumb bastard. Don't know why they don't use more salt on
this ice.

DEC. 28
More of the same shit last night. Been inside since Christmas day
except for when "Snowplow Harry" comes by. Can't go anywhere. The car

is buried in a mountain of white shit. The weatherman says expect
another 10 inches of this shit tonight. Do you know how many shovels
full of snow 10 inches is?

JAN. 1
Happy New Year. The weatherman was wrong (AGAIN). We got
34 inches of snow this time. At this rate it won't melt until the
4th of July. The snowplow got stuck down the road and shit for brains
had the balls to come to the door and ask to borrow my shovel. I told
him I broke 6 shovels already, shoveling out the snow he plowed into
my driveway. I broke the 7th shovel over his head.

JAN. 4
Finally got out of the house today. Went to the store to get food
and on the way back a deer ran out in front of the car and I hit the
bastard. Did about $3,000.00 damage to the car. Wish the hunters would

have killed them all last November.

MAY 3
Took the car to the garage in town today. Would you believe the
body is rotting away from all the frigging salt they keep dumping all
over the roads. It really looks like a piece of shit.

MAY 10
Moved to North Carolina today. I can't imagine why anyone in
their right mind would want to live in the God forsaken State of
Massachusetts.

Israel and Hamas

Why is it that the “Pease” protesters who were demonstrating against Israel got into a riot?

Why is it that the UN is calling for Israel to stop attacking Gaza but has said nothing for the past two years as Hamas lobbed rockets into Israel?

Why is it the news folks are all over every child injured or killed by Israel but don’t talk about any of the Israel children hurt or killed by Hamas rockets?

This is all bull. The Israel’s held off long enough and now they have more than the right to fight back. I think they have done well with a very restrained response. If they really want to stop this the only choice Hamas has given them is to carpet bomb Gaza out of existence. Any other option will only delay things until Hamas starts sending rockets into Israel again.

Sorry liberal idiots. Hamas has vowed to destroy Israel. They won’t stop and you are letting them play you like a fiddle. You are blinded to what they are doing and willingly fall for all the BS propaganda they put out. They are terrorists and as such deserve no quarter.

I don’t care much either way on this as I am American but since Hamas started this I hope Israel finishes it once and for all. It won’t be long until they get hit from Lebanon so the terrorists can open a second front in this war.

Israel has every right to exist, they have tried to talk to the Palestinians and got nothing but attacked for it. Every cease fire gives them time to regroup and rearm. I hope Obama learns from this and does not endanger us by wasting time talking to these folks.

Obama - And so it Starts

Well here we go - I called it!

CNN reports on it here

Obama is going to turn the US in to one big Massachusetts. This sucks. The Congresscritters on his own side are already blasting his new plan to save us all. . . sound familiar?

You want to know where we are going? Look at MA. Deval Patric ran on the same platform as Obama, has an overwhelmingly Democrat controlled statehouse legislature to deal with and he still can't get things done. Why? Because his ideas are so far left that his own side won't do it because they want to stay in power.

Obama and Congress are going to spend the next 4 years fighting over who's vision will be the one that leads the country. In the mean time nothing worth crap will get done, our enemies will get stronger and we will get screwed. Just watch. It is MA all over again in the economy sized package (sorry for the pun).

We are in for it good. Remember this in 2010 and vote out any incumbent on your ballot. . . .

New Meds for Terrorists

The a new medicine has been developed for dealing with Terrorists. . . well, not so new but we had best use it before Obama gets in and stops us or we will never be safe from them.

More HERE

Got this from BorePatch I think. . .

A Free State?

Would you move if a state or states broke off from the USA and went back to doing things by the Constitution? If they were going to go back to the way things were before welfare and hand outs and had low taxes but expected you to earn your keep would you move there? Imagine a place that actually respected the Bill of Rights and was ruled by people that got voted out of office now and again and were answerable to the voters. . . Where Unions and Special Interests did not make the rules, but hard work paid off and you actually kept most of your pay?

I think I would have to give it a lot of thought. I probably would if I could manage to sell my house here in Liberal Land and go. I would love to watch the socialist receding in the rear view mirror as a bad memory. . .

For JayG

I don't know why but I saw this and the first person I thought of was Jay G. . . I figured the guy that drew it must know him. = )

My Name is JD and I am a Geek

OK, I was just watching the Discovery Channel which currently has a program on on how they make stuff. They are talking about a new type of bullet "proof" glass.

This stuff will stop .50 cal and is better than all the others (so they say)

The secret? Aluminum Oxide in the glass. It is still clear with a slight tint.

As a geek the first thing I thought of was "OH COOL they made transparent aluminum"

If you know Star Trek 4 then you know what I mean. . . . .

Yes, I am such a geek. . . .

Another Mass Moment

They now want to test our kids in school and decide who was fat and who was not then send home a note to the parents to fix it. . . .

Can you say slippery slope? What comes next? I can tell you easily - what good is a rule if they can't force you to do something about it? The next step will be that if you don't get your kid back to what they call a healthy weight you will get some kind of punishment. . . you will get a fine or who knows what . . .

And lets not even start on the damage to the child of being publicly called fat by the school. I don't care what they say word will get out, it always does. You think this helps the kids? You think we have problems with them having eating disorders now due to Hollyweird you ain't seen nothin yet folks. This has not been thought out, if it had it would be a dead issue already.

We need to slap the fool that came up with this quickly! Deval Patrick needs to be removed from office next time around and taught that we don't need the state messing with our family's. Folks know when they are fat Deval. My doctor shows me where my kids fit on the height and weight scales every year when they get a check up. The schools do not have any business in this. If my doctor is happy then the school can go to hell with what they want.

Which brings up our schools. We need to take them back too. BS ideas like this just encourage them to think they know what is better for my kid than I do. I will tell you what, you DON'T.

Teachers have one job only. Teach my kid. And in many Mass schools they can't even do that right. (Charter schools score best on teaching kids here and Deval just gave into the unions and said we won't buld any more charter schools, see my earlier post on that one. . . ) When it comes to what they eat or do outside of school just butt out, it is not your business and you have NO SAY in it so SHUT UP. I am the parent, deal with it. You want to have total control over a child then have your own kid and keep you hands off mine.

Deval Patric strikes again! "Together we CAN" mess up this state beyond recognition. Keep it up. I pray we wake up and vote him out soon. . . .

Never thought I would see the day

That a politician did not take a pay raise. . . but it is here. This from the Boston Herald:

One Republican lawmaker has already refused a pricey 5.5 percent pay increase for state legislators Gov. Deval Patrick recommended yesterday, saying the raise is a slap in the face to struggling families.

The hike would raise legislators’ base pay from $58,237 to $61,440, even as they consider slashing millions from the state budget.

“I cannot in good conscience accept a raise in legislative pay when there are so many families across the state who cannot afford to meet their household expenses,” said Rep. Karyn Polito (R-Shrewsbury) in a statement.

Why am I not surprised that in this state it was a REPUBLICAN that did the right thing? Yet we still leave the Dems in charge. Any bets on what she just did to her chance to get re-elected or otherwise ground to dust by the Dems in charge for making them look bad?

We are going to go down fast now that the economy is not turning around even with Dear Leader Zero getting ready to take over. We are going to spend our selves out of existence at the State and Federal levels . . . . can't wait. . .

Update from the Boston Globe - More Lawmakers do the right thing:

Representative Viriato deMacedo, the ranking Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee, said he would donate the raise of $3,203 to a Plymouth food pantry, which lost $150,000 in funding in the last round of budget cuts.

House Minority Leader Bradley Jones said he would not accept the pay hike. Representatives Karyn Polito, a Republican from Shrewsbury, and Democrat Garrett Bradley of Hingham are also planning to reject the raise, according to State House New Service.

Representative Harriet L. Stanley, a West Newbury Democrat, said she too would donate her raise to charity.
