The Media is starting to get it

I found a link to this over at Geek with a 45:

The psychological profile of a mass murderer indicates he is looking to inflict the most casualties as quickly as possible. Also, the data show most active killers have no intention of surviving the event. They may select schools and shopping malls because of the large number of defenseless victims and the virtual guarantee no on the scene one is armed.

This is from this article that came from a TV station web page. . .

Is it possible that folks are starting to wake up to the fact that gun free zones don't work and actually attract problems?

We will see

Mass Moment

Only in MA will they give a disgraced and resigned State Senator access to her office so she can clean it out before she goes to trial for multiple issues:

Wilkerson resigned last week from the office she held for nearly 16 years, stepping down a day after she was indicted by a federal grand jury on eight counts of attempted extortion stemming from an undercover FBI operation. – Boston Globe

So they let her clean out her files and toss out a bunch of stuff. . . . I hope the FBI has all they need to get the conviction or else they should go after whomever let her in to destroy evidence.

This stat is such a mess that this bit of news took the back seat to a second arrest in the Boston City Counsel this time, Chuck Turner got hit for also taking bribes to get a liquor license for someone. . . took $1K to buy him.

I hope the FBI goes through this states government with a fine tooth comb. We have corruption to spare as this shows. I bet we can keep the FBI busy for some time around here. . .

Take a Fall

While sitting in Karate class yesterday trying to teach a new Green Belt how to do a proper fall it hit me. Out of all the things you learn in any of the styles of Karate that are out there probably the most important or at lest the one you are most likely to use is learning how to fall.

I have always been good at this, it just sort of came to me and I have to say that it has saved my butt on a number of occasions. Between dodging kids toys in the house in the dark or walking on the lovely New England winter Ice and Snow it is a rather useful thing to know.

We started him with the basics, just a simple roll backwards and catching himself on the mats. You start by sitting on your heels and just letting yourself roll back. You stop the fall with your arms out at about a 45 deg angle and by tucking your chin to your chest to protect the back of your head. You want to keep your arms fully extended so you can slap down with your palm and forearms, if you land on your elbows or hands you can hurt yourself. . .

Anyway we got him started. It is amazing how many people are afraid to fall. Unfortunately that seems to be part of the problem, cause then you tighten up and really hurt something instead of going with it. . .

Ah well, that is the useless info for today. Another class tonight if I am lucky. . .

Funny

28.5 miles per gallon

Created by The Car Connection

Not sure what to say on this one. . . . I guess I am a sucker for these things

Cat Funny

OK, if you have cats you have to read THIS

A great tale of a three species hunting game. . . (cat, dog and human vs. mouse)

Gov. Patrick

Just heard a quote from him "I am not hostile to a gas tax"

Folks, the Dems in MA have yet to meet a tax they didn't like. Why is he bothering to say the obvious. . .

Maybe if we taxed the illegals in the state they would object to that? who knows. . . .

Mass raising taxes again. . .

Bend over, here it comes. . . .

In order to pay for the Big Dig they want to raise the tolls on the Mass Pike and the Airport Tunnels. One toll is going from $3.50 to $7 if they get their way. Now the hacks on Beacon Hill want to raise the gas tax instead by say $.09/gallon to pay for the dig instead.

“Yes We Can” Patrick has the answer. . . He says the tax hike won’t be soon enough so the tolls have to go up. You know what this means. . . We will get hit with both, they will raise the tolls first then the gas tax. Don’t expect the tolls to come down after the gas tax, they only take money, they don’t give it back. . . .

So any of you fools who voted no on 1 wishing you had voted for Question 1 yet? When will you learn, the folks you keep voting into office want all your money, they know how to spend it better than you do. When will you learn that and vote in some new blood. The economy is tanking and they are going to raise your cost of going to work, if you are lucky enough to have a job here. . . . We need term limits and a second viable party in this state.

Massachusetts – Proof that the one party system does not work. . . . If you don’t believe that now, Obama will prove it, just wait.

Obama’s Change

Can someone please tell me what “Change” Obama is really making with his new administration? Last night on the news he had picked another Clinton person for his team.

I also noticed that they have switched from being called Washington Insiders during the campaign to Experienced as they get added to Team Obama. I believe the wording was something along how the experience they bring to the Obama team would be a great help. . .

Well all I can say is you suckers voted this idiot in and his change is best summed up by The Who – “Meet the new boss- Same as the old boss”. . . . . feeling like you got taken yet? You should.

Scary Stuff on Obama

This shows some scary stuff on how Obama got elected by the uneducated. . .

Auto Bail Out

Some good stuff over at American Thinker on the American Auto Industry problems. ..

Mass Moment

Our great Rep Barney Frank wants to give the auto makers $25 Billion.

Here is the Mass Movement part - If they can't use the money to become a viable company then they have to pay it back. . . .

Yes, that is right, if you spend the money and still go broke you have to pay us back. . . . he does not say how they are to do it . . . .

Barney, I know you are not too quick on the uptake but if they are broke they won't have the money to pay us back dude. . . . Good thing you got a nice government job that does not require thought on your part. . . Thank God good ol MASS will never vote you out right?

National Ammo Day

Remember today is National Ammo day so go buy some ammo for the guns you just bought. . .

You know you want to. . .

Gun Sales

Comments from Geek with a 45:

What I do think is very important is that this has actually happened: humpteen zillion arms have been transfered to private hands and scattered all over the nation, with no realistic hope of ever tracing or getting them back. More will follow, as fast as they can be manufactured.

I also think that it's very important that this fact can not escaped government notice. It can't possibly escape notice; NICS keeps getting swamped.

I remember a tale told about the days of the Clinton AWB. At that time, the AWB bills under consideration still had confiscatory language in it. Despite that, Americans still imported, built and bought several million fighting rifles in the months leading up to it, rifles which were not being purchased to be turned back in. As the tale goes, klaxons lit up @ FBI headquarters, faces went pale, bricks were shat, and quiet, tense conversations were had on the wisdom of the confiscatory language.

I am certain that right now, klaxons have gone off, faces have gone pale, and bricks are being shat as we speak. Let us hope our government grows the necessary wisdom that goes with it.

Purchasing a fighting rifle, aside from the obvious benefits of having a fighting rifle, makes a definitive statement whose import is not lost. At the very minimum, this statement tell us that the American people loudly reject the claim that fighting rifles do not belong in their hands.

Not only that, but they refute the matter in a spectacular way: they place themselves directly on the line: "Why yes, Mr. Gov't Agent, that 4473 form certainly does say "AR", "AK", and "Forbidden EBR" on it. What shall we make of that?"

Scituate Rod and Gun

Still closed. Looks like the NRA will be by in the next three weeks to go over safety changes that have been made and see if they can suggest any more.

There is also talk that they may test the bullet found against the one 9mm that was used that day to see if they match. I don’t know why they did not do this up front since it may clear the club of any issues. . . . Or it would let the club know for sure that they have a problem they need to fix.

My bet is someone in the neighborhood was in the woods shooting where they weren’t supposed to and hit the house. I still don’t see how a 9mm can ricochet a half mile (or a quarter mile, depends on who you ask) and still have the energy to smash a window then go into a wall. . .

At least things are moving forward. I am hoping the range will be open soon. . . .

Funny

I lover this idea:

If you have a company and need to do some lay offs, the best way to sort out who goes first is to walk around the parking lot and see who has Obama bumper stickers... and can them first.

Sounds good to me, they voted him in. . .

From CNN

Wow, they are actually expecting Obama to keep his word. . . He may be in trouble. This from CNN:

I want you to hear something President-elect Barack Obama said just about a year ago:

"I am running to tell the lobbyists in Washington that their days of setting the agenda are over. They have not funded my campaign. They won't work in my White House."

Just this weekend The New York times published a list of names -- a rather long list of names of people -- who are working on Obama's transition team or who have accepted jobs in his White House who are either former lobbyists or who have close ties to lobbyists.

Republican Party is DEAD

They just don't get it. . . Time for a new party

Now they are turning Anti-Gun too. Republicans, the other Democrats. . .

This is News?

Gun owners have been saying this for a while and now a study backs it up:

Found this HERE

The other statistic that emerged from a study of active killers is that they almost exclusively seek out "gun free" zones for their attacks.

In most states, concealed handguns are prohibited at schools and on college campuses even for those with permits.

Many malls and workplaces also place signs at their entrances prohibiting firearms on the premises.

Now tacticians believe the signs themselves may be an invitation to the active killers.

The psychological profile of a mass murderer indicates he is looking to inflict the most casualties as quickly as possible.

It goes on to say that the cops need to go after the shooter as soon as they get there and not wait for back up which gives him/her more time to kill folks. . .

If you had listed to those of us that own guns you would have know this years ago. Now if you would just wake up to the fact that an armed citizen is a safe citizen, not a criminal we would really make some progress here . . .

Public Service Anouncment. . .

No Karate tonight. . . We had a chimney fire instead. . . .

Well that was exciting but there was not damage to the house. We need to get some work done on the fireplace and get it inspected before we use it again but all in all I can't complain. The fire crew was here quick and got things put out while it was still in the chimney.

So, since it is easy to forget this stuff, if you have a fire place, get it swept today. . . Going to be a long winter and you will want to use it. Be safe

Global Warming BS is starting to show. . . .

From a paper in the UK

A surreal scientific blunder last week raised a huge question mark about the temperature records that underpin the worldwide alarm over global warming. On Monday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore's chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record.

Snow in London
A sudden cold snap brought snow to London in October
  • Read more from Christopher Booker
  • This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever". In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years.

Why I love Day By Day. . .

    Tolerance and Obama Borg

Very interesting read HERE on what a kid ran into at school when she had on a McCain shirt one day and Obama the next. . . .

Makes you wonder what we are teaching these kids. . .. but it is not to have an open mind or be tolerant of others. . . .

    Liberals. . . Who Knew?

Now this is funny, found it at Alphecca:

Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.

“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”

    Tolls go up. . .

For those of you that voted against Question 1:

    From the Boston Globe
The plan, which is subject to public hearings and a final vote, would take effect Feb. 9. It would increase tolls at Weston and Allston-Brighton to $2 from $1.25 and at the tunnels to $7 from $3.50. Fast Lane users would pay $1.50 at Weston and Allston-Brighton and $6 at the tunnels.

Say HI to your new tolls, you can get ready for more hikes in what you pay the state too. . .

Thanks for bending over for them. . .

    Slow Blogging

Busy day, not much blog time. . .

    Ready for more Mass BS?

They want to get rid of the tolls on the Mass Pike west of 128. . . .

Then raise the tolls on the pike east of 128, and from the airport. Airport tolls will go up from $3.50 to $8.50.

They say they will get rid of the Mass Turnpike Authority to save money. . . except no one gets laid off, they get moved to the Mass Highway Dept. . .. How do we save money???

Any they are now talking raising the gas tax by 9 cents per gallon too. . .

You all voted against question 1 to repeal the income tax, the Dems in charge know you have bought into their CRAP so now they are going to start raising taxes!

Thanks Fools. You thought it was expensive to live in this hell hole you have not seen anything yet. You want to move out of the state? good luck, you won't be able to sell your house. They have you and they know it. Worst part is you walked into the trap all by yourself smiling all the way.

    Good Job. . . . .

    Dow Down Again

Dow now down 372. . . I guess business and the economy don't like hope and change. . . but on the bright side Dear Leader is driving gun sales like never before. He is even doing better at it than Clinton did and that takes some. . . .

Maybe he can get the gun companies put on the Dow, that should bring it up nicely. . .

Man I wish I had stock in anyone that sold "Evil Black Rifles" right now. . . cause folks, they ain't buying hunting rifles. . .

    Obama - Dear Leader. . .

HERE is a very interesting take on Obama. . . we will see if it comes true

    Mass Pike

Hey, good news, Patrick wants to get rid of the tolls on the western pike and get rid of the Mass Turnpike Authority.

Bad news - we won't fire any one we will keep them at their pay grade and move them to the Mass Highway group. And tolls into Boston may go up as high as $8. . . .

More Democrat shell games, makes it look like he is cutting back on big government but nothing is really changing but some name tags. . ..

    Fisher House

Boston will get a Fisher House for troops needing care here in Boston!

    More info HERE

    Veterans Day

    Thanks

    Continuing the downward slide

    The DOW is down
    Car sales are down
Oil use in the US is down so oil is at about $60 a barrel
    China's economy is slowing. . .

None of this is good folks, looks like a world wide recession is here and not going any where soon. Obama has not given the market what it needs so they are reacting to him negatively. They see his tax plan as a drag on business and are reacting accordingly. . . I think we are in for a very long ride. . . . .

    Military Service

I have to admit I have not served, and I regret that deeply. I wish I had the guts and maturity when I got out of college to have joined some branch and done my time in service to the country. I also admit that as a parent I am scared my kids will do that and I will do my best to support them if they do.

What really is starting to piss me off is schools are starting to say if we have a career fair and the military shows up then we need some anti-military folks there too. WTF? They are not there to offer jobs, just push their political point that the military is bad. This is going on in Milton MA right now. They are going to refuse to allow the military at the job fairs if they can’t have the anti group “Milton for Peace”. See they don’t see the military as a job but as a political group. They say the anti’s have to be there to show alternative to the military as a carrier. . . um. . . What? Isn’t that what all the other carrier folks in the room are doing? You can talk to the military, the colleges, and others there all offering you a future with them. . . . what do the anti’s offer except hate?

Sorry, this makes me sick. We are heading for the 1960’s again and all that BS that did nothing but hurt this country again. The military is a carrier, it is not political. Kids know the choices without political groups trying to convince them the military is bad. The kids that serve are the best we have. They put the country first. They are the ones to put it all on the line for the rest of us to keep us save and the schools think this should be fought against.

I am at the point that I don’t buy it any more. The schools say they support the troops and respect them then they turn around and do anything they can to stop the kids from learning about the military. Yes, they think the troops are great, just don’t go and be one. . . seems a bit hollow to me.

    Gun Sales throught the roof

    From Say Uncle:

    In Tennessee:

During the week beginning last Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, and ending yesterday, Nov. 9, 2008, 8,525 firearm transactions were handled by TICS. Saturday, Nov. 8th was a peak day, with 2,524 transactions. This was unprecedented for November. Only one other day since TICS opened on Nov. 1, 1998 has surpassed last Saturday in the number of transactions - December 21, 2006 saw 2,600 transactions. TICS statistics seem to support all other reports that this will be a peak year for gun sales.

We know Bryan Miller says that the reported increase in gun sales is a conspiracy propagated by the evil gun lobby. Looks like those evil Wall Street analysts are in on the conspiracy too. And I’m sure the FBI is also lying when it reports an increase in NICS activity. And based on Cabela’s numbers, it doesn’t look like it’s the hunters buying.

    More here.

These are gun sales, not ammo, not parts, GUNS. Rifles, pistols, revolvers. . . .Obama has kick started part of the economy anyway. . . .

    Funny Shirt

OK, now this is funny. . . Not sure I would have the guts to wear one of THESE in MA. . .

    Veterans Day

To my Parents, my in-laws, my grand fathers, my great grand father and all the other family members both here and who have crossed over and for all the Vets out there:

    THANK YOU!

Because of what you do I and my family are safe and secure, and we know it!

    New Shooter Report

OK, I have a friend Kelly from work that found out I was a gun nut and asked if I would take her shooting. . . . . oh ya, twist my arm to go to the range. . . .

So after many missed days due to other commitments on both sides we finally got down to the range this last weekend.

The day stated with a short class on the four rules, the range rules, and going over the different guns we would be shooting. She is a bit of a geek at heart and wanted to know the technical stuff behind them too so we covered that stuff also. I then covered how to hold the guns, and how to aim properly with standard iron sights and the peep sight on the AR-15. We figured out which eye was dominant then headed for the range. . ..

The first up was the Nylon 66 in .22 LR. This was a great start and she was on the paper at 25 yards right away. After 20 rounds or so she wanted to move up.

The next in line was the AR-15. I thought this was a good pick due to the lack of recoil on these guns. She did great but felt it was a bit heavy on the front end for her so we moved on. I went to the WASR 10 next (AK clone) so she could try something with a bit more recoil. . . She loved it. Did I mention she did great on the target with it too? I think this was a hit due to the noise and how light it is. It has the 16” barrel instead of a 20” like my AR. . . Anyway things were going good.

Just for a well rounded day she also did a few shots with my lever action Marlin 1894 which went over well. She admitted at this point that she wanted to try the guns because she had been intimidated by them a bit but that was not a problem any more.

Since her boyfriend is in the British Army I couldn’t let the day go without bringing out the Enfield. She really wanted to try it as her boyfriend kept quizzing her about it as soon as he found out she was going to shoot one. . . . . I had her start shooting this one from a rest so the kick would not be a problem. That was the best part of the day. . . It went something like this. . .

BANG! “giggle, giggle” BANG! “giggle, giggle, THIS IS COOL” so I think she liked that one.

We then did a bit with my .22 pistol and my .380 which she did well with but not as well as the rifles as can be expected. Still got on the paper though at about 20 yards. . .

We ended the day back on the AR-15 shooting a metal plate at 100 yards, she hit 4 of 10 and was thrilled. . . .

I think it is safe to say we have brought another one over to our side, not that it took much encouragement. She was very interested in trying them to start and since we went slow and let her work up to the heavy fire power she enjoyed the day. Score one for the good guys!

    Gun Sales throught the roof

From Mad Oger - (a gun dealer)

Sure, we had good sales today... made a few bucks. But let me tell you... I'd rather have had McCain and Palin win and not have sold as much as a BB Gun today. When you buy a new rifle, you should do so with a big grin in your face... not a jaw set in grim resolution. Guys who can barely keep their heads above water, buying whole cases of ammunition... untold personal sacrifice... to keep some ammo socked away... just in case. Just in case our fears or founded. Normally, such a purchase means good times for a weekend with friends. Not this time.

Our sales volume was extremely high and we've not see the like of it. I personally did over 23 Thousand Dollars in Black Rifle sales. That was just me. The other guys I work with all did between 5 to 10 each themselves. It was a madhouse. We are almost completely out of black rifles. We've got a few left. Monday, probably by lunch time, the crumbs will be licked clean.

Folks, that scares me. When folks buy guns "with jaw set in grim resolution" that is not someone buying a gun for fun and sports, that is a person buying a gun to save themselves and their family. We are getting closer to the edge and folks think Obama will push us over.

    Pray he doesn't

    Obama Ready to Rule

So they say on the Sunday news show - more here

I hope one of his team reminds Dear Leader that he does not rule us, we are free people and he is there to serve us. . . . otherwise this may be the shortest Presidential Honeymoon ever. . . 100 days? He will start getting shit on day 1 with that attitude. . .

    Funny

Got this from over at Ambulance Drivers. . ..

Now that there is funny. . . and accurate as we will find out thanks to Dear Leader

    Obama Day?

Are you folks nuts? Do you really think that we need another holiday because Obama lied his way into office?

If this passes we are worse off than I thought. . .

Dear Leader will be a problem, and will F-up a bunch of stuff, I don't think you folks will want an Obama day reminding you of the damage he did when this is all over. . ..

    Funny

OK, this is wrong on so many levels but it is just DAMN funny

    Dear Leader

It looks like Dear Leader is busy picking the old guard for his White House. So much for hope and change, looks like more of the same in DC.

It will get ugly soon as he is obviously making no attempts to reach across the isle with these picks. I can see four more years of a very fractured country thanks to more of the same kind of thinking in the White House.

We are going to get Clinton III mixed with the social divide of a Bush III, the worst of both so it seems.

I hope the conservative movement learns from all this and can take Congress in '10

Now that it is over. . .

I want to know where to get some. . .

    Dow is UP

Well, looks like the DOW is on the way up today. Lets hope this starts a trend. . .

    Guns

From Say Uncle - in Texas:

Sullivan was among hundreds scrambling to buy a weapon Thursday at the gun store Cheaper Than Dirt! - which sold $101,000 in merchandise the day after the election, shattering its single-day sales record, said store owner DeWayne Irwin.

2Stories were similar across Texas, where residents are fiercely protective of their Second Amendment rights and now fear stricter gun-control laws under Democratic President-elect Barack Obama.

Make sure your elected officials know you support gun rights. Make sure to remind them that the last Assault Weapon Ban is what lead the Republicans to control of congress. . .

Folks must really trust Obama to be driving gun sales so hard. Gun sales are one of the only things to go up in sales for a number of months now. . . . That does not sound like folks really thing Obama is pro gun or going to be able to turn around our economy.

We will see what the stock market will do today. . .

    So it starts

Obama is talking about forced community service for our children run by the government from 7th grade through college.

    NO WAY IN HELL

I have no problems with kids doing community service as the PARENTS see fit. This is not the job of the Government. This is just a tricky way of saying we want more time to make sure your kids think the “right” way and listen to the “right” ideas. This is indoctrination and we need to call it what it is and fight it.

They have already messed up the schools enough. It is time we took control of the schools back and forced them to teach what is important in a NEUTRAL was. I don’t care about sports, or clubs, or any other BS they say we need. I want my kid to be able to think for him/her self, to know math, science, English and history and be able to discuss it – not just parrot back the liberal crap. IF there is time left in the school day after that then we can add in the sports and drama club again.

Public school is not supposed to be there for them to brainwash our kids, it is there to TEACH them to think and be functional adults. It needs to give them the skills to get a job and help rebuild this country and make us competitive in the world.

Pay attention to what your kids are doing in school. Discuss it with them. Don’t let them take over our kids.

Dear Leader is there by our vote, he works for US! don't let him forget that!

    Update -
In this economy where will he come up with the money to do this? More taxes? Good way to drive us further into recession folks. Remember that all those great taxes he will put on the big companies will not be paid by them. They will just mark up their product or lay off people and you will end up paying it. One way or another it will be passed on to you so they can keep their profits up. That is the way it works - get over it.

    Great Thought

Any wonder why I love Day by Day. . . . I am sure this guy has read Starship Troopers after seeing this one:

    Main Stream Media

WTF? I just heard a clip with the talking heads admitting they don't know anything about Obamas world view, or thoughts on China, or much about him at all and that there is a bit of a creepy cult of personality about him. . . .

NOW THEY FIGURE THAT OUT? talk about FAILING your basic reason for existence!

Yo Mr. Media - You were supposed to dig into his background like you did to McCain so you could educate the voters on what they were getting BEFORE the election. You have failed and now we don't have a clue what we put in the White House.

And no, it is not your job to make Obama successful (Chris Mathews). It is your job to keep him honest and tell the people of this country about what he is doing so we will know if he acts for or against us who elected him. He works for US.

Thanks for F'ing up the most important job you have to throw the election for Obama. . . way to go.

Forgive me if I never trust your BS again. I still can't believe you admit to dropping the ball this bad.

God help us we will make it two years to take away Congress from the Dems and we can start to clean up the mess you have made

    Funny

OK, I have to admit I am finding it amusing listing to the radio telling me to make sure I watch what I say or do and stay on the right side of the barbed wire. . .

The weird sound effects they keep playing to make it sound like they are broadcasting from a hidden location is rather funny too. . . .

I have to say I hope they get over it by next week because it will go from funny to old quick. . .

    Dow Down Again

Dow is still going down . . . . we are down about 700 points since the election. . . .

This is the biggest post election drop in history they say hit us yesterday . . . .

Not sure I like where this is going. . . .

I hope Dear Leader can get us out of this. . .

    UPDATE
two days and dow is down 928 points. . . It better start going up soon or Obama will be in trouble before he sets one foot in the White House. IF the market really hates him this much we are in for a very bad four years. . . .

    Just a joke I hope. . .

OK, now this is just funny. . . .

I hope the change will be control of Congress by a vote with Conservatives taking over. Any other option is more costly than most realize:

At least 618,000 Americans died in the Civil War, and some experts say the toll reached 700,000. The number that is most often quoted is 620,000. At any rate, these casualties exceed the nation's loss in all its other wars, from the Revolution through Vietnam.
The Union armies had from 2,500,000 to 2,750,000 men. Their losses, by the best estimates:
    Battle deaths: 110,070
    Disease, etc.: 250,152
    Total 360,222

The Confederate strength, known less accurately because of missing records, was from 750,000 to 1,250,000. Its estimated losses:

    Battle deaths: 94,000
    Disease, etc.: 164,000
    Total 258,000

It would be far worse a second time around. . . .

Well Obamabots, welcome to the real world

I guess he is not paying his followers for their work. . . maybe he is spreading their wealth for them. . .

You can see a clip on it HERE and they are not happy.

and so the buyers remorse starts. . . . much quicker than I thought it would. . .

Thanks to Breda for the heads up

    Market Down

    Market down almost 500 points.

This is not good. Lets hope it is a one day thing an not the markets view of Lord Obama that is doing this. If they don't like glorious leader then we are all in trouble. . .

    On to Happy Thoughts

Going to be bringing a new shooter to the range this weekend. A friend at work has always wanted to try shooting so asked about it when she found out I was a gun nut. . ..

Anyway here's to a hopefully successful trip to the range. She wants to try a bunch of different guns so I thought we would start with the standard .22 and work up to the AR and AK that she wants to try. I will be bringing an Enfield and my Marlin 1895 in 45 long colt too. For the pistol side of things I have a 22 Revolver and a .380 auto.

She is rather psyched about it so this should be good. we have gone over the four rules and such and will take it from there.

I hope we have good weather for Saturday. . . .

    The Brighter Side part 2

Well now that Lord Obama has been picked by the masses the rest of the country will learn what it is like to live here in MA. You see Obama ran on the same Hope/Change BS that our current Governor did.

This is good and bad. Bad side - obviously it works on the masses and they buy in and vote for the BS. On the good side our great leader here in MA is so far left that he has not been able to get much passed in our own Democrat controlled legislature. Even the other Dems can see how bad his plans are and don’t pass his crap.

So that is what we can hope for people, stagnation in DC for the next 2 to 4 years. . .

    Quote of the Day

    From Atomic Nerds:

You know it’s going to be a fucking banner day when the first words of the household are “C’mon, get up. We have to go help piss on the last smoldering ashes of the Constitution today.”

    Buyers Remorse

OK, any bets on when the Buyers Remorse will start to set in on Obama?

He is all talk and no action, has been his whole career. When do you think folks will catch on?

Will he make 100 days before his numbers tank or can he make it even that far?

    On the Bright Side

As of January 20th, all of this is now the Democrats fault. After that date anything they can't fix or that they break they will have to take the heat for since they control Congress and the Presidency.

They won't be able to hide from their screw ups any more. . . .

Well, we have Obama standing in for Jimmy Carter, ready to weaken the country at every chance. I want to know who will be the next Ronald Reagan to come save us in four years.

Here is to holding out for at least two years so we can get Conservatives or at least Republicans back in control of Congress so we can stop this idiot. I can't roll over any more than the left did with Bush, we need to start thinking how we can delay his agenda and take back Congress in two years. . . .

The fight for out freedom goes on. . . . .

    Question 1 in MA

Thanks for voting this down so badly folks. . .

Now bend over and take it because you just gave the big OK to fraud and taxes in MA.

I bet the folks on Beacon Hill can't wait to get back here and increase spending.

Say good bye to any money saving ideas now. . . .

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
    light, feeling pretty psyched.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
    and I decline.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

    slam, but neck, right? Right.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

    Bets Anyone

On how fast Israel is going to hit Iran now to stop the nuke plant before Obama gets into power?

You didn't think he would bring world peace did you?

    Tipping point

    So we are there. . . .

We have reached that point where we have gone over the top and started our decline. at least 51% of the people voted for a communist.

I hope we can tie him up enough that he can't do anything for two years, then we need to take back Congress. It is going to be a long fight but if we want even a chance at stopping our slide into oblivion we need to stop Obama's plans.

I have heard talk radio here already starting to push folks to do anything they legally can to slow down or prevent Obama from working his plan. You know they will silence free speech with the "Fairness Doctrine" as soon as they can. Who knows what will come next.

All of this has gotten me thinking, when did we peak? At what point did the country start to fail? Was it the 1960s? Or maybe with the New Deal in the 1930s? Or does it go back to the Civil War when states lost most of the control and the Federal Government took over. . . . .

All I know is the USA I knew and loved is gone. I fear what will be here for my children. Socialism never worked anywhere in the world, and we just put a bunch of idiots in power that think it will suddenly work. . .

Our enemies are rejoicing at his win as they backed him. They know he is weak and will further fracture this country. As Obama takes from the workers to give to the welfare scum the country will further divide along have and have not lines. I think we have all but guaranteed a new phase of the war on Radical Islam. Within a few years (if it takes that long) I can see us forced to expand the war in the Middle East, and dealing with attacks at home.

I can also see us headed to third world status. Our economy is a mess and this fools tax and spend plans to socialize things will push us further into the recession. Companies will be closing or moving out of the US thanks to his taxes and the Unions who will now be able to strong arm their way into control with the open ballots Obama wants. Cost will skyrocket for companies in the US and they will be passed on to us. The cost of living will go up, but don't expect a pay raise.

Socialized medicine will mean none of us get the care we need due to the long lines and wait lists (see United Kingdom wait times). Crime will go up as groups like the Black Panthers are emboldened with Obama and his Black Liberation in charge. They already stopped folks from voting, what is next?

He will do all he can to kill the free market, the very thing that made the USA the success it was.

Welcome to the brave new world folks, we are in for one hell of a ride.

    Welcoming our new Overlord Obama

Well, with the news so far I figured this fit

    George Bush

    Dear George,

If Obama wins the Presidency it will be due to you.

Thanks for doing what the enemy's of this country could not. You have insured a Marxist in the White House, with more taxes, bigger government, and destruction of the Bill of Rights. Just what we needed.

You may have put the one guy worse than you into power. . . . .

    Way to go. . . .

    Obama Thugs part II

Looks like a couple of Black Panthers have been arrested trying to intimidate folks in PA as they try to vote. . . Also hearing rumors that Republican observers have been tossed out of some polls.

Obama moves forward to steal the election. I will say it again, he may yet win this but it won't be by legitimate means, he will not be the legitimate President of the USA.

I can see why the talk shows are already stirring up folks to resist anything he tries to pull if he gets in. I hope the lawyers can stop him since he has all bu invalidated the vote. . .

I would love to see his face if McCain pulls out a miracle and wins this somehow with all the Democrat voter fraud

HERE is a look at voting problems

Update - Guess there is film on the TV of the Black Panthers dressed like cops stopping whites from voting . . . they got busted but if they are doing it in one place they must be doing it in other ones. They really want to stir up some good trouble.

Update - Thug Report HERE This is the kind of activity that gets folks to go down paths we don't want to folks. This is the US, we are not supposed to have this crap here. It won't surprise me if someone gets shot pulling this crap. . .

Update on Voter Fraud - here is a big red flag folk

    Interesting Fact

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

    • Number of States won by Democrats: 19, Republicans: 29
    • Square miles of land won by Democrats: 580,000, Republicans: 2,427,000
    • Population of counties won by Democrats: 127 million, Republicans: 143 million
    • Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by Democrats: 13.2, Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: ‘In aggregate, the map of the territory Republicans won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…’

Taken from the Front Sight Blog

    Today is Historic

I will vote on the way home as the line was out the door and through the parking lot at my polling place on the way to work this morning.

I am happy and scared as today goes on. It is great to see the big turn out at the polls, but it scares me that these folks want to vote but have failed to learn what the candidates stand for. I am thrilled we may hit historic turn out but I think this will lead to an Obama win.

I don’t see how any can vote for him. He has too much baggage for me to ever vote for him or even see how he can legitimately serve as POTUS:

Birth Certificate – if he has nothing to hide here why does he have the records sealed, this should be a non-issue
Supporters – include know Middle Eastern terrorists like Hamas and local terrorists who kill cops and our soldiers like Bill Ayres.
Racist – you don’t spend 20 years in that church and not know what is going on. You sure as hell don’t take your kids there – that is a bad call, poor decision making at best. . .
Second Amendment – he is against it. I don’t care what he says, look at his record
First Amendment – he is against it – look at the truth squads he sent out to squash any dissent.
Fascist – He wants to create a “military like” police force in the US to keep us safe. . . we don’t need it and no President should have that kind of power.
Communist – he wants to “spread the wealth” – sorry, you should be able to keep what you earn. If you are able bodied and don't work, go hungry, not my problem.
Taxes – he will raise them – don’t care what he says, when he lets the Bush tax cuts go away everyone making 25K or more a year will see their taxes go up. You are rich if you make 250K, sorry, 200K, oops, 150K. . . .
Lack of experience – he is qualified but Palin is not? Sorry, and she is only VP, he is going for it all. He does not have the background or any leadership experience to speak of going for him. He is not qualified on his best day for this position.
Muslim Faith? - He has called himself Muslim in an interview and was corrected by the interviewer. . . is he Muslim? I don't think so but I think he may lean that way too much for my comfort while we are at war with the radicals. . .
Missing Facts - The news folks gave up their jobs and fell in lock step with him. They should have been digging on everyone's background, not just McCains. I think he has too much we don't know about to put him in the White House. What will come out that we don't know about?

So it is a mixed feeling day. It is good to see folks vote, but I wish they were making an educated choice instead of one based on “FEELINGS”. Feelings are great but you don’t run a government on them. . . .

    Author Unknown

    'Twas the night before elections
    And all through the town
    Tempers were flaring
    Emotions all up and down!

    I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
    Had cut off the TV
    Tired of political crap.

    When all of a sudden
    There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
    Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
    They wanted my pay
    To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

    He snatched up my money
    And quick as a wink
    Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

    He then rallied his henchmen
    Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
    To tear my country apart!

    "On Fannie, on Freddie,
    On Biden and Ayers!
    On Acorn, On Pelosi"
    He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
    On this one final note-
    IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
    GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

    Voter Fraud is Everywhere

Well, Obama should win with the help of ACORN. . .

    From the National Review -

Re Dixville Notch, several readers point out that the town has 19 registered voters.

Yet 15 voted for Obama and 6 for McCain. Which adds up to...

You gotta admit that Acorn operation's pretty thorough.

Gotta love this. If/When Obama "wins" remember he will not have won leagally. Voter Fraud gets you the election but it won't get you recognized as the President by most folks. If you think Bush divided this country then I will say it again - "YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET!"

This country will fractur under an Obama win due to the number of illegal votes he got. He may become president, but it won't be legitimate. My best guess is the lawyers will start up tomorrow and it may be weeks before we actually know who is going to the White House. We may never know who legitimately should be going there. . .

    Range Report

Spent yesterday down at a friends range since mine is temporarily closed due to stupidity.

It was a good day. We started out getting my Dad’s Enfield sighted in. Now I usually use the black targets but my buddy convinced me to try the orange marked on. All I can say is WOW that was different. It was much easier to see where the hits were on the orange background as the holes show up as black. Within 15 rounds I had the new front sight lined up and the gun running well. It was only 50 yards away and iron sights but for the Enfield that is less than point blank if that is possible.

    It was a great time.

I then moved on to the AR-15. It was off a bit on the windage but with a few clicks she was nice and centered too. She shoots a bit high at 50 yards but again for this rifle I expect that. The lowest setting is good out to 300 yards so you would expect it to be a few inches off at 50 yards. She was maybe two inches high at 50 yards. I may tweak this one more and zero it for 50 but I am not sure yet. Hey, it is an excuse to get to the range again for more “testing”.

    = )

Anyway, I have to say I still LOVE the Lee Enfield. Mine has been “sporterized” meaning that the wood stock has been cut down so it looks like a normal sport/hunting rifle but she still takes the stripper clips and shoots nice and straight. I can see why the English Army liked this rifle so much. Talk about ability to reach out and touch someone. . . .

Anyway it was a great day even if a bit cold. I have yet to have a bad day at the range if that is even possible. . .

    Quotes to Think On

From No Looking Backwards here are some quotes to think on before you vote:

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

    ~ Samuel Adams

"How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of."

    ~ Suzanna Gratia-Hupp

How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

    ~ Ronald Reagan

Remember, politicians lie. Ignore what they have said they will do or who they back, look at their voting record and you will see what they will do. You will see that Obama is not the Hope and Change we want, but a communist/Marxist who will pull us out of this recession and put us into a DEPRESSION by doing the same crap they did in 1929 and getting the same results.

Get out and VOTE your mind, not your heart. . .

    VOTE TODAY

Get out and vote folks, no matter what you think, every vote counts!!!

With a bit of luck and if the Gods still watch over us we may not have to see Obama in the White House!

    Vote Vote Vote!!!

    Halloween

Well, Jack had a good second Halloween:

His sisters had a good time too. . .

I did OK with my cloak and a long poll and an oil lamp. I even had a car stop and tell me it was a cool costume. . . not bad for something I came up with at 2 in the afternoon. . . . we had a long night walking around but every one had fun.

Hope you all had a safe and happy Samhain or Halloween. . .
